    3D Reefing offers the UV sweeper which does a great job for dinos in sand…comes with the holder for uv bulb, handle and bulb…it’s a clean kit for $60

    Always love your DIY segments! Reefing can be expensive and I appreciate these little hacks. Out of curiosity though, do you think this would work on cyano? I don't have a major outbreak but I've got a few little patches in low flow areas.

      Im actually testing that right now. More or less using 3d reefing d sweeper wand version to spot treat in my Nyos. Will see how it goes over the next week or so

      Excellent! I couldn't wait , so I've ordered a UV sandbed sweeper myself and am going to test it. If I can remember I'll be sure to drop a comment here with results. 👍

    Cool! I wonder if cutting a large diameter pvc pipe to fit in the filter sock holders, then running the UV light inside of this pipe would be also be an easy DIY work-around that works passively? Just have to figure out how to limit light spill at the top but still allow water to flow into the pipe. Time to do some tinkering!

      Filter sock is a great idea! you would want some kind of a cap to prevent you from accidently looking at it. but could totally Make a raise one that pop is! I like it :) may be a future project to test it out! :) I wonder how long ABS would last? may need to try printing one with ASA.

    Is keeping that UV light encased in plastic recommend? As it may degrade plastic and can harm fishes also?

    Been watching a bunch of videos and quite of few being yours. Quick question would be what’s your opinion on using in ozone vs a uv sterilizer? Which would you prefer. Or do you even recommend both.

      Depends on your goal. If it’s to battle Dino’s then UV. If it’s for water clarity then Ozone

    Some slightly dodgy chop saw techniques going on there that I wouldn't recommend to others... although I fully admit to having done them all my self at some point 😆
    Nice build 👍

      Yep!!!! Half the point of this project. You don’t want to sterilize your eyeballs!

    Can I just throw it into my filter sock in the first chamber of my nano all in one?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  2 місяці тому

      Yes you can, the risk is the UV breaking down the silicone if its in contact (which is why i made a housing) but otherwise yes it would work.. Also make sure its shielded form your eyes so you dont accidently look at it.
