Very helpful and also entertaining. I just got a pair of the VJ XTRM 2 and Ultra 2 and I was worried about how much room at the front is too much room. Especially since the original XTRM chewed up my pinky toes in the toe box.
Normally my shoe size is 6 1/2. My last few pairs have been size 8! The toe box area isn’t deep enough and I know that my toes would suffer with longer distances if I didn’t get the bigger size. Also, I know it would be hard to address it here, but could you discuss differences in the amount of stability different shoes have? My son suffered a stress fracture 6 km from the finish line in a marathon running in shoes that weren’t right for him despite fitting his foot. Shoes with more stability would have made the difference. (PS he still finished the race, hobbling the rest of the way!)
Hey, Karen! Thanks for reaching out and for sharing your stories. We hope that your son had a speedy recovery. Thanks too for the video request to discuss shoe stability, we'll keep it in-mind. In the meanwhile, we'd be happy to chat with you about it. There are lots of ways to be in-touch, but we'd suggest setting up a virtual outfitting appointment with one of our experts (rei.com/outfitting).
Hi my size in right foot is 25.5cm and my left foot is 25cm. What is my running shoe size. I wear running shoes US 9. Is that correct my size? Thank you

Hi, Neeman. Thanks for mentioning. The video link for lacing tips (bit.ly/3jhwqpI) has been added to the description above. Regarding the finger over the laces tip shown in this video, if you suspect your shoes are not fitting correctly, this is another way to determine if there may be too much, or too little, width or volume in your shoe. That said, it's just a general guideline, and may not hold true for everyone. The idea is that if the shoe's laces are pulled tightly, and the lace eyelets are hidden underneath your fingers, that could be a sign that you're over tightening the laces to compensate for too much room in the shoe. Alternatively, if the shoe eyelets and a little bit of the laces, are visible on either side of your fingers, the shoe may be too tight on your foot, and a wider width or higher volume shoe may be needed. If you have more questions or concerns about running shoe fit, please visit us in-store or give us a call or chat, and we'll be happy to help you out: bit.ly/3jirDUM

@REI I got a shoe with a finger gap in the shoe...Though i am seeing marks on the side supports bending inside, maybe because of gap; any suggestions?
Oh wow speedcross higher volume than cascadia? That’s certainly a first for me
Wait, a thumbnail's width? That isn't exactly accurate since people have different sized thumbs..
