Yes, that was Enter Sandman! They're Metallica fans and specially in that part they pay tribute to the creations of humanity (you can hear a little of Bach).
gregorian chants, tribal music, banjos, EDM, bach, friggin metallica...this song is a love letter to human ingenuity and ambition but also a careful warning against egocentrism at the same time. lyrically and in terms of composition it's a pure masterpiece. it's pure art.
Not just Bach, It goes from Chanting to Chamber Singing, to Woodland Flute, to Bach, to Classic symphonic orchestra, to folk banjo, to Industrial, to Metallica, and finished with a few beats of EDM music just after the sandman riff... It's the Evolution of music in 20 seconds...
@@MrRockNRollLive Yeah, and it's the whole human history compacted there, when the lizard and snake come. Quinn listed all those musical referencies, stwjester told it's the evolution music in 20 secs… And the Metallica part actually ends in a few techno beats, to take in also the machine made music industry as well - there just in the very end, before continuing to the single grain of sand, where it's tied, like F1rst World NomaD said.
The song title is taken from a 2009 book by evolutionary biologist and atheist writer Richard Dawkins, concerning the evidence for biological evolution. Dawkins also contributes towards the album. Holopainen explained to HMV in March 2015: "I wrote him a letter a bit more than a year ago and explained the ideas we had for this album, mainly to do with evolution. Since one of the tracks would be named directly after one of his books, it felt like a perfect match to try to get him do some reciting on the album. He sent me an email a few weeks later accepting the invitation." "Later in 2014 we then recorded his parts at Hats Off Studios, Oxford. This is a huge honor for us, since Dawkins is one of our biggest heroes and his writings have been huge inspiration for the album."
If you listen really closely, (easier on the album version) there's tribal music that goes from one side of the speakers to the other, and then there's a long gregorian chant that comes in and fades to the other side, then the little piccolo type thing, then there's a lute type instrument strumming a chord, then it's the harpsichord(?) thing, then it all kicks in again. I bought this album on day of release, and only recently noticed these lol. This song is amazing to listen to on headphones. There's so much stuff, water noises, rocks crumbling, especially the huge ocean soundscape right at the end, the creaking of a boat, the ocean waves, animal noises, then the last sound is a single human breath.
as far as I have been able to disect it, it's Bach Menuetto, Bach tocatta in d minor, than there is some "rock around the clock " in there, than enter sandman and electro/techo stuff
It's a long one, but did it feel 21:30 long? That's the genius of Tuomas. He knows how to keep you interested and guessing what's coming next. I don't think they have a single song I get bored with. Some I don't care for as much as others, but I don't get bored with them. Ever. 🤘👍💯

The Greatest Show On Earth, particularly this performance, isn’t a song, it’s an event. It’s not something you watch, it’s something that *happens* to you. Wow. Just wow!
Mr. Rock N Roll, I just had a thought: You should not got a live show. Why? Because you would need a coffin to carry your body back. Because the first time you see Floor do her Dutch Windmill, you would die happy on the spot. Great reaction, though! Completely and highly entertaining! Nightwish is truly one of a kind 😊❤ Tuomas is a genious songwriter! The Poet and the Pendulum is my favorite Nightwish song but pretty much all the rest is close second, including this epic masterpiece...Thank you for reacting 😊🤘
"Female 'Freddy Mercury'..." Exactly. From creating epic songs, to how polite they are in interviews, to evolving music, to entertainment of the crowd and to singer who thrives on stage, Nightwish, in so many ways, resembles Queen.
How could you not love this band? They are so humble and funny and supportive of eachother and famil~like, down to earth and normally unaffected. Really specially
Best reaction to this performance, Hands down! In fact, after dozens of reaction videos to Nightwish, you were the first guy to even hint at having an infatuation with Floor. It's almost like it's an unwritten rule to keep that to ourselves. But I'm with you, she is just so smoking hot!!
What can one say about this performance, it is definition of epicness! To perform a song so complex like this live is not normal, this has to be one THE moments in music history! Your reaction did it justice, I remember seeing this for the first time and just couldn't believe it :)
FYI, that kickass outro before the song starts is the ending of “The Last Ride of the Day” and it is pure energy epicness. They seem to use it as either the closing song or as the setup for whatever epic piece they decide to close a concert with.
Always amazes me how Tuomas can headbang that wildly, still hit all the right keys, and not fall over backwards. The crew must glue his boots to the stage!
Love your reactions, I've been in love with Nightwish for 14? years and my heart still explodes just like yours, everytime! Please do 7 days to the wolves next!
I'm a huge Nightwish fan but also a fan of yours, Mr. Rock N Roll! It's so much fun watching your reaction videos and you are so Real & Honest with your reactions! I feel like I get to relive the first time I heard these songs by watching you. Great job! Thanks, man!

I love your Reaction to Nightwish, I am so lucky to see them live in Arena Oberhausen in 2018. When i see them, i see so much fun on stage. With Floor the fun come back to Nightwish and you are the first reactor who checked that Floor is the crowler.
I've seen and listened to all of the videos you've reacted to and then some. I've watched them over and over countless times along with several other reactions and I'm sure all the fans of Nightwish have done the same. It has been a real joy and pleasure to watch all of these with you. Your reactions and appreciations have been sensational and sincere. Continue to enjoy your ride that has just begun. :-)

The greatest show never ends bro. Lol. That is why it is the greatest show on earth. Visually stunning, sounds amazing, goosebumps, etc. You know what i am talking about.
Once again, you put a giant smile on my face. Thanks for an incredibly entertaining reaction! And I agree, Floor is the best! You may be over the top, but heck, you're just doing what I feel like doing everytime I watch NW. *thumbs up*
He'll also need someone to explain the 'technical' terminology within these lyrics. If you're interested watch the reaction video of 'The B and S Show'. There is a comment from Chris Tomashofski who really did an excellent job on this.
You asked how about the greatest song on earth. And you were true to your word. Love your reactions. It's so pure. I've heard these, but the joy of discovering such things for you, it's very pleasant to see. You go there with open mind and it's all it takes them to overwhealm you. Just keep on going. As said before, even if a few songs have been quite long (they never feel so long). There's so much for you still, different styles. You can't predict them, you just have to accept that they will do this to you. Peace and love. We enjoy it and glad you're enjoying it.
I love how you were talking about not going back to slow from heavy and then just stopped talking because you saw Floor was entering the stage. And the 'oh no, where are you going? Come back!' Very cute ;) I was waiting for you to startle at the sudden heavyness starting :P LOVED Floors 'damatic' voice when talking. It's like Mother nature, a power that controls EVERYTHING around you and inside you talks to you, through Floor
Short "Enter Sandman" riff is there as an example how music came to the earth with human .If I remember right, first version of this song was aroung 45 minutes long and then born of universe was pressed to the 20 minutes. Man, he took his time in the sun
Had a dream to understand
A single grain of sand
He gave birth to poetry
But one day'll cease to be
Greet the last light of the library
Man, he took his time in the sun
Had a dream to understand
A single grain of sand
He gave birth to poetry
But one day'll cease to be
Greet the last light of the library
We were here!
We were here!
We were here!
We were here!
"We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones
Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born
The potential people who could have been here in my place
But who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Sahara
Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton
We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA
So massively exceeds the set of actual people
In the teeth of those stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here
We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds
How dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state
From which the vast majority have never stirred?"
There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers
Having been originally breathed into a few forms or into one
And that whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity
From so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been
And are being, evolved
Thank you for listening to the song to the end. Also I could tell you appreciated the music that was playing when they came back on stage. I think you are the only reactor that reacted to it.
It is my favorite part of the song musically.
Like you I am so glad that I am around to hear Tuomas's music. He is a genius! His music goes right to my soul. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings about Nightwish!
I was looking for you, so found this reaction. Just wanted to let you know that someone honoured your request in case you hadn't noticed... ua-cam.com/video/mVsjgPne-CI/v-deo.html
Floor ... what is there to say?
Kai - his drumming, OMG those tribal beats in the middle!
Marko - can we spare a moment to appreciate his backing vocals in this son? Genius and under-appreciated
Empu - Metallica!!
Troy - Oh Troy you bring so many extra dimensions to the band,
Tuomas - We. Are. Not. Worthy. You're a genius,
Floor and Marco harmonizing is just fucking epic!
Kai is an amazing drummer. There are vids of the drum camera views on UA-cam, he's a beast!
The Islander from same show (live at Tampere
You HAVE to hear it. It's a requirement!
The Islander Rock in Rio. Daddy Viking in a leather kilt, I love it.
The Greatest Show On Earth, particularly this performance, isn’t a song, it’s an event. It’s not something you watch, it’s something that *happens* to you.
Wow. Just wow!
Mr Rock N Roll's show combined with the Greatest Show on Earth. Made me so very happy!
Your reactions to this is gold. So enjoy your devotion to the music of this amazing band. Brilliant.
God. Best reaction ever. Literally blown away 😂😂🤘🤘
Another great perFLOORmance from Nightwish.
You make me so happy mr rock and roll. I laughed out loud a few times. You make my day, every time
If one band is worth every cent of a concert ticket it is Nightwish, NEVER failed to amaze!
That is pure energy....in the stage
This is one of my favourit Songs and Performance from Nightwish. How always ... great Reaction 😊😊👍👍
Mr. Rock N Roll, I just had a thought: You should not got a live show. Why? Because you would need a coffin to carry your body back. Because the first time you see Floor do her Dutch Windmill, you would die happy on the spot.
Great reaction, though! Completely and highly entertaining! Loved it!
🔥🤘😎🤘🔥
By the way, it wasn't Floor growling, it was Marko.
*Mind blown*
actually that cave man growling was a mix of both of them ;)
@@dhaxgaming4488: I just listened to sound only a minute ago. Now, absent a digital sound analyzer: I hate to disagree with you, but I did not hear a second voice, nor did the growls become fuller at any given time.
Contrast that with Ghost River, both times where they both go really rough, to the point they both growl -- Marko has light growls, while Floor gives Marko's growling a fuller sound body.
@@isaiahwelch8066 Then again, just before it cuts to Floor's silhouette, you can see Marco leaning towards his microphone and start sing... er, grunting.
J lo hago
Hello from Finland! I have seen Nightwish three times live, including Tampere show. I have been their fan since forever, I love them💙
So Fing Epic...jaw dropping, tear inducing, spectacular...stupendous, breathtaking. Tears.
I'm usually tough on emotions, but I cry each time I see this show...
I get monster goosebumps every time Floor starts singing in this song!!!
That ending is so epic, it gets me every single time. Such an epic, emotional ending.
I freaking love your reaction! Love it. This song is freaking awesome.
Definitely, these are the best Nightwish’s reactions!! Love it!!!
Nightwish is truly one of a kind 😊❤ Tuomas is a genious songwriter! The Poet and the Pendulum is my favorite Nightwish song but pretty much all the rest is close second, including this epic masterpiece...Thank you for reacting 😊🤘
What a fabulous voice!! ❤️ Long live the queen off metal!!
Really specially
this song is absolutely unbelievable!!!
Floor's and Marco's voices fit so well together.
FYI, that kickass outro before the song starts is the ending of “The Last Ride of the Day” and it is pure energy epicness. They seem to use it as either the closing song or as the setup for whatever epic piece they decide to close a concert with.
Lol... Yes! Tuomas is quite the headbanger! 🤘🤘🤘
Always amazes me how Tuomas can headbang that wildly, still hit all the right keys, and not fall over backwards. The crew must glue his boots to the stage!
UA-cam's Best Nightwish Reaction
I love how you get all excited whenever Floor headbangs; I'm the same! So in love with that woman!
This band has achieved perfection...
Love your reactions, I've been in love with Nightwish for 14? years and my heart still explodes just like yours, everytime! Please do 7 days to the wolves next!
...such a great band....such a great vocalist..and a very emotional reaction video...like that!
Floor is a definition of a living angel!
I'm a huge Nightwish fan but also a fan of yours, Mr. Rock N Roll! It's so much fun watching your reaction videos and you are so Real & Honest with your reactions! I feel like I get to relive the first time I heard these songs by watching you. Great job! Thanks, man!
Sen Dia ⚡️⚡️ like a boss!! I’m not even a year old fan yet!
I understand you man, this band is one of the greatest, and With this vocalist they're reaching a new level. Brutal performance and HAIL TO QUEEN FLOOR JANSEN WHO MAKES THIS BAND FLY...
NIGHTWISH. Killer performance as usual.
I love Nightwish & this is my first seeing you react to them, LOVED IT! You are so hooked on Floor, you really have to go see them in concert young man! Although you may not survive it you atleast would die a happy man. Thanks for making my evening with your reaction.
She is not a queen, she is a goddess!
I love your Reaction to Nightwish, I am so lucky to see them live in Arena Oberhausen in 2018. When i see them, i see so much fun on stage. With Floor the fun come back to Nightwish and you are the first reactor who checked that Floor is the crowler.
Some Tarja fan boy said that "Floor is just an average rock singer".
Poor man! ahahahah
Tarja is goob but she pure soprano.. Not like floor, she can do anything
@@lalalayeyeye2956 I really respect Tarja, but Floor fit better the Nightwish's song.
let's be honest they're both more talented then any of us will ever be
@@thetwitchywarlock 👍👍👍
Dude i'm loving your reaction hahaha .
You making it a joy to watch and bring a smile on my face with every Nightwish reaction.
Keep on going :D
Thank you thank you thank you! I haven’t smiled so much in ages .
Absolutely love your reactions to Floor. Just awesome! When you slid off your chair I almost pissed myself!!
That flute is so awesome!
No need to imagine being there since I was there! Still the greatest gig I’ve ever been to. Gotta say man, your vids are entertaining as hell! Keep rockin’ 🤘🏻
I’ve had the unique privilege of seeing them twice, including inside a tiny century old theatre in my hometown. It is endlessly amazing.
Thank You, this was a great reaction. You reminded me of the first time I saw this epic masterpiece. I couldn’t believe how amazing what I was seeing and hearing was either.
The greatest show never ends bro. Lol. That is why it is the greatest show on earth. Visually stunning, sounds amazing, goosebumps, etc. You know what i am talking about.
This song gets me cryin every time, it´s soo intense, very well composed, floor is beautiful, her voice is amazing. Love the flute and the bagpipe.
I don't know why, but it reminds me first "Avatar". This music motive appears when Earth was young, beautiful and unharmed, just like Pandora.
Now I know where got this female Freddie Mercury thing going on! It was you! Thank you, sir! Well said =)
i love floor sooooo much
thats the definition of the absolute FLOORGASM when she made the ''beast'' voice i got mad crazy too
love your reactions! You are great at what you do! Keep going! Thank you Mr Rock and Roll!
Love your reactions, you're enthusiam is great :)
Keep it up, I need more of these reactions.
I share your love of Floor as I'm sure many do.
Once again, you put a giant smile on my face. Thanks for an incredibly entertaining reaction! And I agree, Floor is the best! You may be over the top, but heck, you're just doing what I feel like doing everytime I watch NW. *thumbs up*
That is how you tell the story or our planet from start to now. In your own time do it again but have to lyrics handy. Gives the song so much more
He'll also need someone to explain the 'technical' terminology within these lyrics. If you're interested watch the reaction video of 'The B and S Show'. There is a comment from Chris Tomashofski who really did an excellent job on this.
Thats some multiFloorgasm in just one songs, damn your reactions are flawless, totaly blown away. :D
@@MrRockNRollLive Yeah i love their transitions from slow pace ...and BOOM pure metal and goddes in centre blowing anyone away with her voice.
Yes! you finally did it, knew you would love this! Its such a masterpiece
This song and this performance is one of the greatest things I have ever experienced
Я когда даже тысячный раз просматриваю любой концерт nightwish, испытываю такие же эмоции. Удачи, бро.
I love how you were talking about not going back to slow from heavy and then just stopped talking because you saw Floor was entering the stage. And the 'oh no, where are you going? Come back!' Very cute ;)
I was waiting for you to startle at the sudden heavyness starting :P LOVED Floors 'damatic' voice when talking. It's like Mother nature, a power that controls EVERYTHING around you and inside you talks to you, through Floor
You bring a lot joy in my life.
I've been watching you.
-Finn.
Short "Enter Sandman" riff is there as an example how music came to the earth with human .If I remember right, first version of this song was aroung 45 minutes long and then born of universe was pressed to the 20 minutes.
Nightwish have published first world tour dates of 2020 and more to come. First are South America dates but later there will be US dates also....Do not miss those coming dates if want to see live performance and have live experience of floorgasm...
THE POWER IN HER VOICE...
