Learning a new piece of equipment is half the fun, with time comes experience. Slow and steady wins the race. Great demo of the equipment and Thank you!
Hey Tony! I just figured I got the same brand of flail mower you have. It's a 60in wide in my case and it has the gearbox offset to the flail. So it gets a further offset. I've used it today for the first time and it's really well made I must say. I've got the remotes controlled with a regular valve, so it's easier to control the movement. Thanks!
I recently ordered the 65in ditch bank flail from Titan. Good to hear positive feedback on them. I'm a bit hesitant since they're on the budget end of the flail mower spectrum... but for the few times a year that I need one just can't justify getting a high end make/model. Thanks for doing a great job of videoing the mower and reviewing it!
That adapter is really neat.👍👍 And the drive shaft can be heavy and awkward to connect as well, so that certainly makes it easier. (i've thrown my back out bending over to connect them before.)
That pto adapter was definitely easier to install than the other one you installed awhile back. Those flail mowers are tough. They are almost the same as a mulcher head. The planer knives/ hammers are fix mounted on the mulcher and flail mowers pivot. Both designs are impressive at what they achieve and the finish is always good especially with planer knives being used.
Hi Tony, The PTO coupler is pretty cool. Unfortunately, for compact tractors running implements like rear snow blowers, chippers, etc. the PTO shaft is already so short, that fitting a device like this will likely not work too well. With your flail mower or a rotary cutter, the PTO shaft is much longer which will allow the use of a quick coupler. You flail mower is really awesome!
Good morning Tony! Thanks for the great demo on the ditch bank mower. Really effective equipment if you have the need on your property. I researched them quite a bit a while back and found that many compact tractors are not designed or built to carry that much weight or the forces of energy of a heavy ditch bank hanging out the side of the 3 point. I believe Tim also did a video on it and came to the similar conclusion. Perhaps if you were interested, maybe you can discuss with Titan and do a video on what someone needs to consider before buying one. In other words, how would I know that my tractor is engineered to handle "X" size or weight of mower. Just a thought. Great video and thanks for sharing!
I may just do that. I insisted on the 4' flail. Each extra foot hanging to the side makes a difference. The environment it will be worked in is a big deal too. Steep hills require bigger and heavier tractors. I don't think I would recommend even this 4' for a subcompact tractor unless on flat ground. The T264 with loaded rear tires seems to be a solid fit.
Don’t forget to check the length of your PTO shaft when using this adapter, as it adds ‘extra’ lenght to the shaft which might cause damage to your equipment when there’s not enough space
i am going to purchase a Titan 125 flail mower like the one in this video. I notice on the video you have a rubber flap that covers the rear opening and roller. This is not shown on the dealers pictures of the implement. Where did yours come from?
The old Turners i used to run had three piece flails and they would fly off like ducks in winter meaning a new hammer, shackle and r pin every time. Things have clearly moved on!
We always ran rotary cutters (Bush Hogs) growing up. This is my first flail mower. It is rated up to 3 inches. To cut that thick they use the hammer style cutters and and this thing is built heavy.
I have one of a different brand but it looks almost identical. Mine is a 65". The problem I have with mine is that the top housing is too thin and it has been welded on numerous times. I am going to have to put thicker plate on it and gussets to make it stay together. I have also had issues with the bearings on the roller. I had to replace both of them within 10 hours of running and have replaced the bearing on one side again,
How do you articulate the mower? I get the 3 point is up/ down. How do you control 90⁰ to flat/ decline or offset. I added a rear remote set to my tractor but my hoe had its own controls. Did the mower come with its own control or are you using the auxiliary lever? I never see videos on what levers people are using.
@@TonysTractorAdventure Thanks for responding! I have an auxiliary hydraulics lever for my set of rear remotes. I bought a summit add on kit that toggles 1 or 2 or push button for both. Im guessing my auxiliary lever is for the rear remotes. It's held back with a factory hook lever. Not sure why but all I ever run was the hoe. Im guessing once the hoe is off I'll take that holder off and that'll be what I use. It didn't seem to set back to center with that holder off like i thought it would. This is obviously my first tractor and property Haha. I'm just learning here but I think that's the lever I'll be using. Since the hoe had its own controls I've never had to think about it really. Hopefully all goes well. Im reading some people have detents that need removed for the lever to return to center. I'll see as I go. Thanks again for your time
I wouldn't recommend it. It has the horsepower to turn it but that is way too much weight off to one side. It would make the tractor unstable and dangerous. Even with this small 4 ft mower, I have to be conscious of the slope.
I think it is because it is older. I think all the manufacturers are moving to a solid shield for liability reasons. One of the new JD I saw the other day had a solid shield.
Jim, that is just a guess on my part from prior conversations. A folding shield makes sense to me. I am ok with making things safer, but lawyers have sure made things unbearable in some areas.
I am not sure what you mean. It may be the easiest three point hitch hook up. I hook up the hydraulic lines and align the hitch before backing in the last few inches.
@@TonysTractorAdventure im talking if u need to bolt it together cause ur leaving it on for a while or whyever u feel u should put the bolts in. Seems getting the bolts tightened up and nut on bolt be aggravating but, maybe not.
@@TonysTractorAdventure i know im talking about if u wanted to bolt it up like u said in video for long use not talking the attachment im talking the pto shaft thing.
I don't know. Maybe with the tires loaded. Not on steep hills. You would need a dual rear remorse setup like mine. The make them that doesn't offset that would surely work.

Nice to see folks working to overcome the frustration of connecting PTO attachments! Thanks, Tonyman. -Ed
Yes sir. I am digging this PTO quick connection. It will become part of my life.
Learning a new piece of equipment is half the fun, with time comes experience. Slow and steady wins the race. Great demo of the equipment and Thank you!
Thank you. I appreciate your comments. I could mow all day. Fun times.
Good video, glad to see you respect the guards, I know two guys that have lost legs due to getting tangled in a pto shaft, and the mower is cool
I never take off the PTO Guards, but they sure do make it hard to work with. This adapter cures my PTO sickness. LOL.
GREAT flail mower, just ordered a regular offset 68'' flail mower from Titan Attachments for my T474.
I never knew what I was missing. The flail lower really does a great job.

I am definitely in need of flow restriction. I think the next size up on has the gearbox off to one side further. They are well made.

I have wrestled with PTO half many times. This is great.
I really like that flail mower. And that PTO shaft attachment looked very easy to connect your equipment. Enjoyed the video Tony.
Terry, thank you. I am happy with both. They make my life easier.

It works on the T264. I have already run a wood chipper, tiller, etc. Some people may need to cut the shaft down.

Nice video Tony. I like That PTO connecter. I kicked the idea of a flail mower around a few times. Looks like they do a nice job.
At this point, I give both thumbs up.
That really does look really easy thanks for the info. Great video.
I appreciate that. The PTO adapter is easy, and it works. It is well built too.
We have flails in britain and ireland for years there great for rough ground clean it up for cattle
They are relatively new in my area. I see their purpose for sure. Thank you for watching.
Nice pto adapter

Good info to share. I assume sometimes everyone knows.
That mower is tougher than woodpecker lips. I would’ve loved to have had one when I was on the farm.
We mowed a lot on the farm when I was a kid. I would have loved this. I can say now; it is fantastic.
Any videos showing your hydraulic setup for the offset mower?
I plan on doing one soon.
Maybe tym should put their pto safety cover on a hindge ? Lift up when hooking up pto.
I think all brands are getting away from the hinge adapters due to liability. That was one thing I noticed at the last tractor show. I could be wrong.
i am going to purchase a Titan 125 flail mower like the one in this video. I notice on the video you have a rubber flap that covers the rear opening and roller. This is not shown on the dealers pictures of the implement. Where did yours come from?
It is precisely the way I got it. I don't know if they have changed.

Wow! 65" inches is big. This one is 35". I suspect they make it thin to keep it light.
@@TonysTractorAdventure It is too light. It keeps cracking. It is too light for its own good.
I understand. I hope you get it beefed up.
Have you had to trim any of your pto shafts due to the extra length added by the quick connect?
It is a possibility and likely on short shaft implements. It is easy to cut them down.
How do you articulate the mower? I get the 3 point is up/ down. How do you control 90⁰ to flat/ decline or offset. I added a rear remote set to my tractor but my hoe had its own controls. great - so it allows you to negate the role of the PTO shield by extending the pto so the yoke is exposed!
The wheels turn too. The hammers of the flail mower are rotating at 1500 RPMs. The little green thing is the least of my worries.
Would the T25 run the bigger and heavier 57" offset flail mower?
I wouldn't recommend it. It has the horsepower to turn it but that is way too much weight off to one side. It would make the tractor unstable and dangerous. Even with this small 4 ft mower, I have to be conscious of the slope.
Nice review of the pto adapter. Doesn't your shaft cover have a hinge to swing it up for connecting the shaft? Mine does, maybe because it is green!
I think it is because it is older. I think all the manufacturers are moving to a solid shield for liability reasons. One of the new JD I saw the other day had a solid shield.
@@TonysTractorAdventure Guess I lucked out, mine is just barely 2 years old.

My Branson has a shield that swings but tbh it still is hard to reach into there and connect.
What size and model tractor r u running in this video?
This is the TYM T264. The new version is T25.
So if your putting on the “batwing” does that mean your tractor is the “bat mobile”?
That's right!😁
I’m Bruce Wayne
I am Bat Man!
So how hard is it to get the bolts on once its all together on the tractor? Seems itd be an aggravation.

I have never bolted the PTO quick adapter together. I think that is recommended in the higher HP tractors.

I don't know. Maybe with the tires loaded. Not on steep hills. You would need a dual rear remorse setup like mine. The make them that doesn't offset that would surely work.

Wrap a rope around the pully. Make marks where the role touches. Measure. Tractor Supply carries a full line of belts.
Can it be used with a quick connect?
I am using Pat's quick connect system in this video. It looks to be compatible with other quick hitch products.
@@TonysTractorAdventure I was referring to the quick connect on the 3 point. It is what I use for thee implements I attach to my tractor.
"Pat's" is a name brand of quick Three-Point hitch adapters. They work on everything. I have move to them.

That is ok.
