  • Today's video is full update on my 125 gallon African cichlid tank, showing the growth and evolution of the fish and tank setup over the past year and a half. These Lake Malawi haps have grown a ton and started to put on color.
    When I first stocked the tank, I wanted to start with smaller cichlids so that I could watch the growth of these fish over time and also share that progression on the channel. The growth spurts lately have been awesome to watch. As some of the cichlids move up in the hierarchy, some have moved down and have less color. It's been an exciting tank to watch come into its own! More updates and upgrades will be coming soon.

    Nice setup. I have a Hawk at about 5 inches that I cant wait to start seeing some color. I have a venustus, fusco, and tiawan reef already colored up and looking good. The thick boy in my tank is a jack dempsey.

    Your fish seems to be growing really well! How is your feeding schedule? how much and how many times a day? i would also really like to know how much water you change per week. I cant seem to get my haps to grow nearly as fast, in fact they dont really seem to grow. I hope to hear back. Awesome vid btw!

    Cant lie im not really into malawis but seeing them colour up over time does sound interesting. They look so different to those bland fry id never have thought they were even the same fish.

    It’s funny with the tiger becoming tank boss and being more of a kind boss, I had some young blue labs and yellow tail acei cichlids and I put them in with my full grown yellow lab and he was instantly the tank boss but he is very nice to them and the worst he will do is push them out of his little tunnel (they have 6 but like his better)

    Damn that’s some commitment there, a year and 6 months! I was very eager when mine were at that 2” that I eventually bought a few larger guys just to have something nice to look at in the meantime lol.
    I’d take out that Ahli, he doesn’t stand much of a chance with those big bruisers. He would fit in better with more passive haps like Borleyi or even peacocks. I have a mix of haps and peacocks so it’s easier to mix less aggressive fish in my experience

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  3 роки тому +1

      Haha yeah, next time I’d probably get them larger to start, it’s been a very long wait. Still cool to watch the progression though

    Great video buddy. I have a 150 with a small tiger oscar fish" about 4.5 inches long. He killed both of the arowanas I added to his tank. One was pretty big' about 8 inches. He basically killed them over night. He then killed two albino Oscar's I added. Yesterday I added another tiger oscar like him and they seem to get along perfectly. I want to house more fish in my tank. What can I do without having to remove my oscar?

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  3 роки тому

      Thanks! Sorry to hear about the fish. I’ve mostly seen docile oscars, but if one is this aggressive, I’d recommend keeping solo or with just the other Oscar that he seems fine with. I’ve found silver dollars and plecos to be the most successful tank mates, but it’s tough to say for sure given your aggressive Oscar. Best of luck
