Bought my 18 for $160 on amazon, early 2000s. Bought a 22 on cl for $200, and 14 at WallyWorld for $70 on clearance. Pound for pound, they are the best smokers on the market. Unkown BBQ hinge is great. I put it on the 22 and 18. The ss hose clamp and extra charcoal grate mod is the other must do, clamping the ring and two peroendicular grids together. I run waterless.
Started with my 22 Weber kettle and moved up to the WSM this year. I’ve done 16 hour over night smokes on the WSM and it ran like a champ. Would recommend without hesitation
Tip for the aluminum door: If the door doesn't seal along the circumference of the barrel just hold the door by the sides and bend a little inward. Will fit like a glove! 😎👍
My "fix" for the OE door was to STOP using it. After a cook or two it seals with char. No need to add fuel or water (I rarely use water) as this thing will cook for a looooonnnnngggg time without adding fuel. Best to regulate temperature by adjusting the air intake first and then, if needed, restrict the top vent; thus avoiding harsh smoke.
Get yourself a cover cuz these WSM’s drink rain! I bought the floor model at ACE and the guy insisted on charging me for the 18” even though it was the 22.” Now I buy all my stuff at ACE out of gratitude!
yep, nothing beats the flavor of PAH carcinogens basting your meats from fat dripping in fire. Grilled meat will have that but its miniscule compared to the hours your smoked meats will be bathed in this scientifically known poison.
Just ordered a few days ago the hinge from Unknown BBQ, and it fits the 18" and 22" smoker for $50. Also, Arbor Fabricating makes a larger. more efficient charcoal basket with a minion starter basket as an option. Good stuff!
I love mine. Mods that make it more convenient are to drill holes in the vent tabs and attach handles (you can just use carriage bolts if you want) so you don't burn your hands. Also you can buy an aftermarket side tray that bolts on without drilling, and another company makes a hinge for the lid.
I’ve had a 18” for 8 years, and I love it. Every once in a while, I wish it was a little bigger, about once every two years. I need to find a “gently used” one on Facebook. I wouldn’t use the 22.5” every time, but I would use it.
I got the 18 from Facebook. I thought about going up to the 22, but others have been so mixed on the the move. I like the draw some people seem to get on the 22
i have the 18 and wish i would have gotten the 22. with that being said the 18 and 14 are great, just cant fit too much on em. Now im gonna get the 22 and have all 3 😂
I love weber, i have performer deluxe BUT i cant understand why they decided to not include locking clips on wsm so you can attach sections together!?!? If you fire it up someplace and midcook wanna move it 15 feet, you have to take top section off, move open bottom section which has hot coals on it.... you cant move it as whole. The door also looks very weak and flimsy. Wsm series would seriously need an updated model.
This is the exact reason I’m going to start off with a Weber Performer and see how I like it and go from there! I have cooked on an Americana- Meco charcoal walk about grill for about a year so I’m thinking the Weber Performer will be a huge upgrade! I personally feel like the WSM will be a huge pain to take out of my garage and move around, if I had a covered porch it would be a different situation! At least the performer will roll outside, easy ash clean up, table and gas assist!
@@bassman7496 Performer is propably the best Jack of all trades as it can grill, smoke etc. BUT i gotta change my view of wsm. I bought one like 8 months ago and yes it has those cons that i mentioned but it truly is "set it & forget it" smoker. Fill up the charcoal ring and light it with minion method it is allways gonna run 220-235 f. For like 8 hours straight. I have the smallest one and i only need to fill the water pan every 4 hours or so. It will run +10 hours with weber briquettes if you fill it up and use minion method. I have had few other bullet smokers and i dont know what weber does differently because those others were not nearly as staple in holding temps. But i suggest you buy the performer, its little bit trickier to set it at certain temps but once you come in terms with the grill its semi easy to set. But its so good grill because it can do everything!
I did shoot a video of it in 2018. You're about the 20th to ask, so maybe I should dig it up and show it!! Keep Cookin!!! And thanks for watching and commenting!
So I do have the Hunsaker hanger ( I have talked to someone recently about it, dang was it you?) Actually two of them because I have two 22" WSM'S. Anyway, my favorite aftermarket company for the WSM'S is Cajun Bandit. Their stainless steel door is soooo much better then Webbers. Their stainless steel Rotisserie is fantastic. Those two items are absolute necessary up grades for the wsms. Back to Hunsaker I think is some interesting half shelfs that allow you to for example hang some ribs and chicken halfs while doing a brisket on one shelf and a pork shoulder on the other. Very creative gear.
@BBQiT I'm happy happy to see you back. Going salmon fishing this Friday. Hopefully something for a catch & cook Video of my own to post soon of my own. Have a great day 🌤
Hello. New to your channel. Was wondering if you do more of a lunch or dinner barbecue cooks (whole meal) verses just the main protein as the star of the video. I’ve seen lots of bbq UA-camrs, who just do the main ingredient. I like your videos that I have seen so far, just was wondering if you’d expand on the “whole meal portion” of your videos. Thanks for you wonderful bbq videos.
Nice review, I have only seen the 18 inch WSM in person. Does the WSM out perform your kettle in smoking or does it just hold more meat? Also does it burn more charcoal compared to the kettle for the same cooks?
For long cooks yes, I think so. But, I have the Kamado Summit now, and it's truly the best of all worlds!! Keep Cookin!!! And thanks for watching and commenting!
The lid is really heavey, and awkward. So I think it's so you don't have to put the lid down every time you open it. Thanks for watching!! And thanks for the Sub!!
Thanks for sharing! We're getting ripped off in Australia with these - small one is $460 AUD (300 USD) and the large one is a whopping $1160 AUD (760 USD)! Basically none on facebook marketplace/etc
The WSM is the hands down best bang for your buck smoker. Good price, great flavor, easy to learn and lasts a lifetime.
What Steven said!! Thanks for the comment and for the sub!

Love my 22 WSM. Replaced the water pan with a Firedial plate, and got a Lavalock coal basket. Runs like a champ.
That water pan was such a hassle, even when foiled. The Firedial is one of the best upgrades.
@@wingman12r The WSM vortex basket and plate by Hunsaker is another good accessory

Yeah, I may get the aftermarket door. This puppy has the lid hinge already installed. I just don't use it.
