- The Taurus TX-22 was the 'Guns & Ammo Handgun of the Year' in 2019 and for a very good reason. This .22 rimfire pistol is accurate and extremely reliable. And yes, I will buy another one in the near future.
I have had this Taurus for 2 years and never had a jam. This is what I like about this channel,you guys review guns on both ends of the affordability scale .

Yup, for folks like me, lol. The Taurus Ruger folks. Love their guns. Taurus has done a great job in the last decade, imo.

My TX 22 does not like the Federal Punch, it will run them but every couple mags you get a failure to feed, they Jam up on the feed ramp, all other rounds cycle perfectly

This gun changed my mind about Taurus, which had developed a massively negative image for me personally. This is a great gun... accurate, reliable, eats cheap ammo, decent capacity, good irons, comfortable, affordable sticker price, and not super fugly.
I have a G2C and a GX4. The trigger is a little iffy on the G2C. But, once you get used to it, it's ok. Absolutely love the GX4. Never had a problem with either one. Probably have to get a TX22 now.
I have never had one issue with Taurus I've owned several of them and still do .not bad for budget guns
@seanmurrell85 I've got a GX4 too and love it. I've watched maybe 10 or so videos on the TX22 compact. All give it excellent reviews. I am getting one next week.

After 4 years and thousands of rounds my TX22 would occasionally not go into battery. I sent it back to Taurus and it was returned in 2 weeks working perfectly again. Taurus even replaced the magazine. Great gun, great service!!!
Mine had no rifling in the barrel and I sent it to Taurus and they returned it with a new barrel. Very reliable gun but the plastic guide rod does have to wear in with the recoil spring. Mine goes into battery fine after I blew the guide rod with compressed air and locked the slide back so I could run a gun oil sodden rag on the exposed rod to clean it better. Very smooth action afterward.
Taurus has really pulled through the last 7 years or so. Their guns are quality for low price.

Funny, I also bought mine in 2020, shot thousands of rounds through it. One malfunction when a first time shooter was trying it(could’ve been a bad round). I’ve never loved a .22 so much! I’ve started at least six first time shooters on it! They all loved it! 😎😃 Taurus hit a home run with this one. lol, I love that “Star Trek” fade in and out with the eerie music! Taurus definitely hit a home run with the TX22. I own a handful of Taurus semiauto pistols and revolvers and the TX22 is my favorite.
@@mixup98 I’ve had a PT-1911 which was good. A PT-145, uh, NOT so good! lol! The TX is fine as wine!! I’d buy another one in a heartbeat! Easily seven or eight different types of ammo have gone right through. I’ve never owned a .22 like this one. It’s a “10”!

I bought this 2 weeks ago. Haven't shot it yet. However, I ordered a stainless steel guide rod/recoil spring from Galloway Precision. That was delivered in a timely fashion. Can't wait to shoot it. Thanx Mixup 98

@@ron8566 it will add minimal weight to the front end. But really it's about reliability. I had a Steyr M9's oem polymer guide rod snap after just 3 shots at the range (multiple range trips beforehand) so I realised had that been a life or death situation, polymer guid rods are a no-go. Now if all you are doing is plinking, a plastic guide rod isn't a setback
@@HKBuilderDIY its plastic for a reason, you want that piece to break so if doesn't break harder to replace parts if it encounters too much force.

When I purchased my Ruger SR22 I thought I had finally purchased my last 22. semi auto, but then the Taurus TX22 striker fired 15 rnd came out. It will take more than what Sig or Glock has came out with to make me change.

Besides the serious self defense aspect of guns ,there's also the fun side of having them. It's made my entire adult life more fun and interesting.
I bought one, and it was so reliable, I also bought the TX 22 Compact model. Both run ANYTHING with no problems.
I was going to take a moment to say that those are impressive photographs your son took. Entomology and microscopy are interests of mine when I can make the time. He's clearly very talented.

People give taurus a bad ral, never understood it. My first handgun was a taurus 66. Shot the hell out of it for years with no problems. Sold it back to the shop i bought it from for what i paid. Ive had quite a few since and never a problem nor have i met anyone who had a problem. Till recently, my best friend got a g3c, sights are flopping all over, one of the mags came from the factory bent!
My very first revolver was a Taurus Titanium in .44spl. back in the mid 90s, I loved that pistol and regret ever selling it.
I have owned many Tauri over the past 30 years and to be honest, the semi-auto's have been decent performers, but literally every revolver I have owned has suffered damage (this is the reverse of what you normally hear). Broken firing pins, broken transfer bars, broken FCG parts, a LOT of timing issues (both my M44 44 mags would go wildly out of time after less than a box of ammo). Many friends had had similar Taurus issues and do not buy them. And it sucks because Taurus CAN make very good firearms, just their QC is historically poor. Maybe they are better now, I don't know.
@@stonefree1911 mine was early 80s if i remember. I have a few little pistols for carry but they all run just fine.
The 66 was well made. My friend has had one for many years and it still works perfectly. The trigger was a bit heavy but a spring kit took care of that.
I have 3 GX4s . Love them! Excellent trigger, and never misfeed

Way back when you first made TX-22 vids, I bought one. I had issues with sticky mags and you showed me the fix with the brush and the spray. Since that time, the TX-22 has become our favorite range pistol. We bought a Competition model as well. We've put in excess of 50,000 rounds of the cheapest 22LR ammo that exists through them. The regular model goes 5,000 plus rounds in between cleanings without a single issue that isn't 100% ammo related. We clean the Competition every 500 rounds to keep it as accurate as can be for target matches. Hands down my favorite 22 pistol of all time. I haven't been watching firearms stuff for a few years.I'm just getting back into it under my new user name. You and your son do some of the best YT vids ever IMO. I still can't thank you enough for your advice on getting the mags to run properly. The TX-22 is a very enjoyable pistol to shoot. Thanks my friends. Good to see you guys are still at it. Wow....50,000 rounds through your TX22! I'm really impressed. I don't have near that many rounds through mine but it's good to know that the Taurus is built to last. I may pick up the compact version someday and do a review on it. Thank you for the great comment and cheers from southern Nevada.

I have had mine for about a year now.. the thing seems to like just about every flavor of ammo I have fed it.
The only time I have had any "hick-ups" have been when I filled the mag by hand instead of using the loader. That took a minute to fix, but I now use the loader each time and all is well!
Cant say that it is my favorite .22 pistol, I think my Taurus 942 probably takes that spot, but the TX22 is definitely a great choice for an inexpensive autoloader!

I bought a TX22 a few days ago and its been great! one of the best 22lr pistols on the market hands down, I'm also a big fan of the G3 and G3C, Great videos!
I bought this pistol new a couple of years ago and it's been great 👍 It weighs almost nothing even fully loaded, and has zero recoil. I would very highly recommend it to anyone!
I have a small steel challenge course setup on my property, which I love to shoot .22 pistols on.
I bought a TX22 a few years back, and slapped a cheapo red dot on it, using a mount that replaced the rear sight.
Since then, I've shot hundreds, if not thousands of rounds of Aguila and Armscor through it, and I have to say that it's a great performer. I can shoot it faster than just about any gun I own, it's very, very reliable, and at the ranges I'm shooting (50 yards and closer) it's almost comically accurate.
I love to let new shooters spend some time with this gun, because they can actually hit things with it, and it's very easy to operate.
I will say that every time I clean the gun, I marvel at how cheap the fit and finish, especially on the polymer parts, is, but it runs nearly flawlessly.

Just took my TX out last week with my grandson, it's been about a year since I fired it. Between the Super Wrangler & TX22, his favorite was the TX. Thanks for the always informative & entertaining videos. I have been impressed with the TX22 for sure. BTW the mag cleaning tip was really good.
Once again, some good old father and son fun. The last shot was awesome
I've had some bad luck lately with Federal Automatch also.

Bought mine in May, 2024. I have ordered new sights, guide rod and spring. New trigger spring so I should get some serious shooting time in. I’m comparing it to my Glock 44 and it’s a tie so far except the cost on the Glock is much more.
Taurus is very underrated, in my opinion. Early on they had some reliability issues, but for years now Taurus has been putting out excellent firearms at a reasonable price.

I had one for 3 years starting in December 2019, never a issue or malfunction. I only shot Federal or CCI but never had a problem.
I did end up trading it for a Beretta 92x RDO Compact, i just couldn't justify buying 22lr anymore. I do regret not having it though, the best pistol grip I've had in hand. I might have to try the GX4XL it looks like the TX22 in 9mm! Good stuff, good video thanks for sharing!

I was lucky enough to get a TX22 the first month they came out. Unfortunately it was one with the bad barrel. Taurus fixed it, and I have since picked up a non-safety model. It is one of my favorites to shoot as well. Thanks for video!! Keep up the good work sir!

worked on/shot a few mags of several varieties. have three mags and the one had several ftf's withe newer bulk winchester....kind of a flat hp nose design that samed to nose dive into the forward lip of the mag....about 2-3 round per mag. had same issue with that stuff in ruger sr22 pistol as well. i think it is bullet shape or maybe out of spec on overall length, case length, etc. works just fine in ruger revolvers. old....and i mean real old win superx hp run like a top in that same tx22 mag, but the rwo designs are very different. accuracy is fine with both and both go bang 100% when properly chambered and all!
I own two Taurus handguns one I've had for years and the other just here within the last month I completely trust both

Finally cleared the background check today!! Took it straight out the box ran about 300 rounds of federal bulk through it no malfunctions. Im very impressed thus far.
I avoided Taurus for Many yrs Since the Late 80's Early 90's. Long Story Short?? I Now got a Half dozen. They Realy Turned it Around! The G3 series & that TX 22 & TH - 9 ARE EXCELLENT.ALL Run Great! Started out Reluctantly with that G3..Live & Learn guys. Nice EDC's & At $265..ya CANT Beat em! God Bless..😊
Bought mine during the 2020 ammo crunch to keep up on my trigger time, 0 regrets, one of the best triggers of ANY polymer striker fired gun I own. Also o e of the most accurate. Awesome gun
Love the video. My tx22 only gives me a fuss when I’ve shot a ton of rounds suppresssed. All I have to do to fix it is spray some dry lube on the mags and in the chamber and it runs forever again lol

Good morning Sambo. Actually I am a retired peace officer here in Nevada. Although it wouldn't be my first choice for self-defense the TX22 is fully capable of protecting myself or my family, especially when loaded with 16 rounds of CCI hollow point ammo. Rimfire firearms can be very picky about ammo and reliability would be my first concern when it comes to using one for self-defense.
The macro photos were great. I have a high appreciation for that.

Thnx Guy! I agree with the AutoMatch, i used to shoot boatloads and never had an issue. Ever since bout 3 or so years ago i have had more duds out of a box than i can count.
I'd hate to tell you what I actually paid for my Ruger Mk II Target SS back 20 years ago... Extra magazines were readably available and most reasonably priced. I'm happy you are quite satisfied with what appears to be an excellent firearm from Taurus: they certainly have come a long way over the years!
P.S. I even know how to reassemble mine, having had a Mk I from way, WAY back when!

I've had my Taurus TX 22 for a while now got it for 259 plus tax shipping and transfer with a 50 dollar Taurus rebate so 250 and change out the door not a Taurus fan but have had a few Taurus semiautomatic and revolvers l no longer have but this TX 22 has been a gem for a rim fire 22LR semiautomatic pistol have over 2000 rounds through it a few malfunctions l think more ammo related than gun it's been the most reliable semiautomatic 22LR l think l ever had more reliable than the Ruger SR 22LR pistol l had for a long time that the TX 22 replaced but the Ruger was also pretty reliable for a 22LR semiautomatic pistol l like the TX 22 best out of the two it has a pretty good trigger gun feels perfect in your hand and 15+1 capacity and very light in weight mine runs 40 grain CCI mini mags very well
I recently (02/2024) purchased a TX22 from Bass Pro for $299 for my wife to practice with. Out of the box it was 100% failure to extract or feed truncated Federal Spitfire ammo. After using a brass cleaning rod to push spent fired cases from the chamber, I measured the chamber to find the inside diameter was .226"-.2265", while spent case outside diameter is .228". I replaced the barrel with a Lakeline LLC $124.99 with the chamber inside diameter was correct at .228". I replaced the extractor with the Tandem Kross Eagle Talon, polished the plastic seam from the center of magazine ramps to solve feed topic. When disassembled, I discovered many out of spec components that had to be corrected. My findings of another two TX22 pistols, owned by friends that I installed the Tandem Kross Victory Triggers in, had many lack of quality control, missed components, one competition model had steel components rusted, minor etching and blued over. A huge disappointment out of the box, but a great, fun, super nice ergonomic fit to the hand to shoot, After Repairs. I encountered mass malfunction, new out of the box for my recent purchased G3C 9mm pistol also, now corrected and loved. Customer Service for me was also non functional, even with pictures emailed for proof of missed quality control.
The only problem with this handgun is the company behind, Taurus its absolutely a garage. But when the tx22 works properly, it's a great relaible pistol.

Had mine for 2 years now. Great fun. Lately Federal auto match has a bunch of duds in every box. The primer mix in the base does not go all the way around. A second attempt will make it go bang. I've taken a few apart to look at. Not at all an issue with my TX-22. The TX speaks to me as I'm in Texas so ya gota have one....😜
I love my TX I have the one with the red dot optics and cut away, a wee bit heavier but wow, it's a tack driver too.

I had to take out the safety on my tx 22 because of my grip. My grip made it jam and it's a very good pistol that my dad got me
