- Single take hardware jam for the HWJ group weekend challenge on the theme of "Toys"
I figured the 1979 BigTrak toy needed a big track, so I added extra cheese to some cheesy cluby cheesy cheese.
The first performance mode preset sequence on the Roland System 8 was just too horrendous not to use!
Recorded from the stereo out of the MX-1 straight into Audacity with no editing, although it could use it in places...
Video created in Adobe Premier Pro with B-roll and original video with additional Bigtrak footage can be found here: • Big Trak: Roland Syste...
Unlisted version "Crack n Cheese Grommit" can be found here:

Excellent jam! I like how the melodies come and go. Great atmosphere you've created.
Hey Mark, thank you! Had a bit of fun trying to get that cheesy sound in there!
nice jam! those rolands giving very clear sound 👍🔥
It just feels lazy using them now lol the fx on the MX-1 are just great!
Old school that i like!
Thnx for live video!
No problem lol
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Happy sounding jam...have a great weekend Pete 😀🎶
Hey Michael, many thanks my friend!! And you too! 😃
Great vibe. Good sound.
Thanks again!!
This has a very film score type of feel to it... awesome work krs !
Many many thanks Marti, I appreciate your listening !
Great jam on this amazing set up ! Speaking of fun, this is fun mastering :-)))
Thanks!!
Nice to see the Roland gear out again, Pete. Yep, more cheese please✨🙂👍
Hey Steve! I picked up the M-VS1 from my old place earlier today too. Can't wait to use it alongside the System-8!
Did you find the extra cheese version in the description?? Lol
Yep. Couldn't resist repeating the word! Great news about the M-VS1. I relied heavily on mine in last week's piece. I'll never part with it.
@spacedrifter1961 I just found it Steve, it brought a tear to my eye my friend...
I hope you're doing ok?
All good here thx Pete.
@spacedrifter1961 good to hear...!
Pretty good jam!
Thanks Jean!
Nice!
Thank you Philip, greatly appreciated 🙏
Been a while, great 'comeback', Sir!
It's been a busy few months LB! Finally got the time to catch up on videos and moving the studio...! I hope you've been having a good winter?!
@@krsTBedfordStudios Ah, you've also moved! House or just the studio?
Pretty much finally done here too! :-)
A bit of both! Lol Trying to fit the studio into a smaller homestyle rather than having it 25 miles away in a commercial building! There are pro's and cons lol
It's good having immediate access to some gear though...
Did you move house??
@@krsTBedfordStudios Yeah, blimey, 25 miles is quite a trek and would be easy to lose inspiration before getting there, I can imagine!
Yep, moved in a fair few months ago, got a very decent home office/gym/studio now. Will hopefully get my arse in gear and record something to get a chance to show it off soon-ish! hahaha
Ahh that would be good, it sounds like an ideal set up..!
Excellent ! VERY clever !
Just juggling... it'd help if I could count I always feel... 😉
@@krsTBedfordStudios It's fantastic m8, I have played this quite a few times now and forwarded it . We are in different leagues. You make music, I can only make "drugged up soundz" LOL.
So impressed with the Shom album am thinking of ordering the CD now. I would love to know if Ed Wynne has ever heard it ? !
Much more exciting than the current Ozrics. They have gone off the boil.

Hi lLudvig,
I run my various synths through your SY1 MONO synthesizer pedal. It can be most bizarre....! LOL
I take your point about the SY 200 being aimed at guitarists; however the MD 200 was absolutely 100 % aimed at guitarists....and that is STEREO !
Anyway, I have made my point, and you have told me you will inform your BOSS ( pun intended ).
So thanks....

Hi again,
absolutely no problem with the tone of your communication!
In fact, we appreciate feedback like this.
I do personally see the problem that you are pointing out. I just don't think this was the intended use of that pedal. Most, if not all, guitars are indeed mono and the SY-200 is made to be used with guitars. And that connected right after the guitar and converting the guitar tone to a synth-like one.
That said, many musical applications are more interesting when "breaking the rules" so it would of course be interesting to hear what it could do to a synth.

Hi Ludvig, Thanks for your reply, but without wanting to sound rude, I think you are missing the point of my comment. The other 200 pedals are all pressed exacactly the same size to form a pedal board, a STEREO pedal board at that. That to me is the main attraction, the whole idea, the selling point.
The SY 200 throws the spanner in the works totally, breaks the STEREO linked chain. It is also the one a synth user would want the most after the delay.
I am beside myself with amazement this has been overlooked. Regards, Steve

Hi Steven,
Yes, I'm having more fun with the DD-200 now as I made it a part of my "synth pedal setup".
Thanks for your feedback about the SY-200! I will pass it forward, although that would of course not change its physical state.
As I understand it, the intention is to use the SY-200 with input directly from a electric guitar or bass.
I would assume that the engineers are correct in thinking that us synth geeks wont be the largest customer base for that model.

Hi Ludvig.
I hope your experiments with the DD 200 Shimmer setting went well !
I must express my astonishment/annoyance for the first time ever with Roland to be honest...
I use the DD 200 and MD 200 pedals now, and both are twin channel stereo, great, how clever, perfect !
I have had my eye on the rest of the line, make a full stereo set-up.
I almost parted with £300 last night for the SY 200 synthesizer pedal. Something in my mind told me to check the inputs....
To my horror it t turned out to be SINGLE CHANNEL MONO ? ! Sorry, but what on Earth went wrong there ?
Someone has slipped up. It is unusable for my purposes, and you have lost a sale, possibly thousands of sales !
Hmnnnnn
Regards,
Aaah yep... maybe they need to work on developing stereo guitars! Lol
i was listening to this yesterday, but i was kinda busy.... so i turned this up and carried on with "business"......
but rest assured, i was dancing and "gibberish singing"(as i do) my best Pete Burns/Yaz styles as this track played......
(no i cant sing like Pete or Alison)..... hahahaha i CANT sing...... kidding no one.
Great Sounds, Great feel, Great Momentum !!!!!!!!!!!!
♥♥♥
Thanks Aleks!
