    This was one of the ONLY bands that could swap personnel and NEVER lose their edge and professionalism!..seen'em 3 times growing up,including the '83 US Fest,which they owned!

    Thank you. Early Scorpions will never be duplicated. They broke the mold.

    This song makes me so nostalgic. It reminds me of being in high school and putting up photos of 70's and 80's bands on my walls. I'd almost hope that they'd jump out of the pictures and say to me, "I'll bring you to the show, little girl. Come to see me today," just like in the song. It's just a magical feeling, and this song brings it all back.

    Great song with a raw energy and tension. Probably my favorite of all their early work.
    If anyone ever says the Scorps suck, play them this song.

    mkerwin1--the drummer on the studio version is Jurgen Rosenthal. Rosenthal was in Uli's band Dawn Road, and came over to Scorpions with Uli and bassist Francis Bucholz, who also was in Dawn Road. In with those three and out with Michael Schenker, bassist Lothar Heimberg and drummer Wolfgang Dziowny. I kinda wish they kept Rosenthal, ur right, his fills were remarkable. Rock on my brother.

    Gotta agree with you there. I grew up in the '80s and I never got into '80s-era Scorpions the same way I loved Judas Priest, Iron Maiden or Metallica. I've always considered the '70s to be the Scorps' best period.

    Uli is a student of the whammy bar. seriously i remember reading an interview with him in creem years ago and he talked about spending hours of days of months learning just about every note hendrix ever played and imitating all of his tremelo work.

    It's Rudy Lenners on drums. Check out the back cover of In Trance, the album on which "Speedy's Coming" originally appeared. Klaus is also wearing the same shirt on the cover. Check out Uli's custom whammy bar, courtesy of bassist Francis Bucholz. For those interested, read my Uli retrospective on house of shred dot com.

    On the song Fly to the Rainbow michael Schenker composed it cause Uli only had the lyrics and didnt know what to do with it so Michael said give it here and he played the acoustics and co-lead guitar.

    Ok, true story! When I was a cub scout we would host an event called: "The Penny Arcade" I would say the time frame was 1975 or so.....Anyways, I played a game (putt-putt golf; ONE hole) and one chance to sink the putt--I DID IT! I won this 45rpm record that said "Not for Sale" Scorpions Speedy's coming on both sides (donated by local radio station that claimed this band will never make it!) :) Yes, in fair shape and STILL have it :) My first rock and roll record for 1 cent.

  • @Kanesconscience
    @Kanesconscience 17 років тому

    Early Scorpions at their best! I'm not sure if this was a live performance or a lip-synched one, as I hear Uli using a Uni-Vibe and maybe a wah, but I don't see any pedals. That tone is incredible- the custom whammy bar is a nice touch. I guess we have Floyd Rose systems to do those earth shaking dive bombs now...
