@@heavensubculture as juliusk1 said, Rodtang Haggerty Superbon, also Tawanchai now.
Also they promoted Harrison vs Nong-O fight. Although I don't watch MMA really, they also have Demetrius Johnson, and a few asian fighters who are top tier.
Those are some pretty epic guys.
And if by "characters" you mean big-mouths who make a fuss and Trash-Talk, that's not the Muay Thai Spirit at all (respect and sportsmanship) and I'd rather watch fighters than clowns (who know how to fight I must admit).

    • @heavensubculture

@@thejoojoo9999 no I don’t mean trash talk I mean characters. They promote a lot but many of their top guys could use even more time to talk about themselves and their stories and show their character more often. Something like the embedded series would be nice. Rodtang haggerty I agree they are promoted but For me personally they feel lot more distant compared to top ufc fighters even though I follow both promotions

In Rodtang's more recent fights, especially after his lost to Mighty Mouse, he has been way more aggressive out of round 1. Seems the lost has sparked a new flame in him. Heard he also might want to transition to MMA in the future. Rodtang seems to have only gotten better as a striker since then. Which I didn't know was possible. He utilizes his elbows way more now and he grappling/clench has seemed to improve. He's a bit more active in the clench as well. He's still young so it's gonna be exciting to see how much crazier he can become.

I havent watched the full vid yet, but what I noticed with Rodatangs fight with Mighty Mouse, is that DJ kept on going for the clinch after he hit rodtang. Thus nullifying any damage rodtang could do in the pocket striking. Honestly to me that has been the most effective strategy against him Ive seen.

@@Sylaous you mean a body lock? Rodtang himself does that all the time. Also, as long as your grabbing from the waist up its allowed in Muay Thai. For example, taking someone’s back in standing in a Muay Thai fight is a high scoring position.
What do you mean by “mma” clinches, and have you ever fought in a Muay Thai match? If so, what promotion because I’m very interested in a muay thai promotion that doesn’t implement clinch rules properly.

Your answer reminds me of David Goggins telling Joe about our terrible habit. Our professors and teachers taught us to "double-down on our strengths". Its upside down, our strengths can take the backseat so we can use that effort to fortify our weaknesses. In this case, I guess that means focusing not on Rodtang's weaknesses but on our own to be able to stop him. Long-story-short, easier said than done.

To survive to the final bell and maybe get a decision you could try move and just touch him with combos overload the rodtang software with feints quick and harder punches alternate kicks inside outside high low, lead hand lead kick combos to the body finished with a step in knee. Don’t get caught up thinking he’s invincible if he boxes he can be out boxed. Make sure you do not sleep on the kicks off the hands or your leg will be butchered in no time. Be more physical than rodtang do anything you can to throw him off his confidence game posture on him frame on him grab his wrists do not just run away out of range press forward or hold the range and control his lead hand.

To me, the most comfy way of beating rodtang (I say comfy, yet fighting this man is the exact opposite of comfy) is out scoring him. When i say out score him, i dont mean be relaxed and patient, stall and stay far. I mean be fast-paced, active while on the back pedal, and out-work him. Trying to beat him at his own game is too risky. That's what he wants you to do. If you see his bouts with kanoar, the first fight against petchdam, kaimukkao, rungkit, they managed their distance perfectly with the jab and utilized their kicks the best they could. After every punch, they threw a heavy roundhouse or a piercing long knee to win the exchange. They smothered his combinations with clinches and make him have to reset everytime he engaged. They never fell for his mind games, when he showboated they showboated back. In short terms, work smarter, and harder than him.

Also don’t timidly retreat into his range and sit there and trade out of fear, the dude is going to kick your head off if you exchange at a pure Muay thai distance.

First do not go full power punch against him coz u will lose balance and he will find a way to hit you back. 2 No teep coz he will catch your kick and follow with a heavy punch. 3. Dont retreat backward, go left and right instead and try to score with 50% power punch and kick so it easier to maintain balance and your ability to defend and evade.

@@abdullaali1799 I can assure you that Rodtang knows how to do that very well. He's probably done 30min to 1h of clinch every day for the past 15 years of his life. The Thais are master at this. And they train specifically for clinch under Muay Thai rules so they'll most probably be better at standing clinch (Thai style) than most elite wrestlers.

Its no wonder why these thai fighters have great conditioning. They run 10 km everyday while most western fighters think long steady state cardio is useless for fighting and replacing them with HIIT. Thai fighters have great stamina because of all those LISS, they have massive aerobic base.
