We played this song at my dad’s funeral, as he LOVED Garth Brooks. Coincidentally, it rained hard on the day of his funeral… Well yesterday was my 25th birthday, and it rained heavy. Guess what song came on the radio… yup. It’s been 14yrs since he passed and he still finds his ways to say hi.
When I was a really, really little kid, before I ever even knew what this song was about, I loved it. Every time there would be a thunderstorm, I would ask my dad to play it for me on his sound system (this was in the 90's - so like an 80's/90's style system), open all the windows and doors, so we could listen to it on the porch together with my mom and little brother. One of my favorite childhood memories. As an adult, the lyrics hit home in a way no other song can. The guitar and thunder still gives me chills to this day. This will always be one of my favorite songs.

I wish I could get his music on my iPhone! It’s about time he did what TOOL did, and just let everyone enjoy! This song is SO great! Idk if his actions are political or what, but music is for everyone, TOOL finally realized that.
I played this song a little bit on a trip with my grandparents. We were in our camper in a RV park in a small town in texas, and a thunderstorm blew in at 4:00 am our original time zone. And the thunderstorm woke us up. And so we had a long day.
I lived this song for a lot of years when I was in a abusive marriage. It was physical, mental and emotional along with cheating nonstop. So many times I slept with a knife under my pillow. It came down to me killing him but he came close to killing me. I then left when he abused me in front of my 3 children. I thank God every day cause neither of us passed away before I was able to get away. God gave me strength and a way to finally have a way out. I was stuck in it cause he and his parents had money and kept saying if I left they would get my kids and they actually tried to after I left him. By God's grace and many prayers I finally won once I moved out of the county we were living in. I thank God that I finally won and got to raise my 3 children whom are all 3 grown now.
This song randomly popped in my head and I remembered hearing it when I was a kid but it’s nowhere to be found on iTunes. There’s only cover artist singing it. Ugh.
Was hoping they had the extended verse "she runs back down the hallway, and through the bedroom door. She reaches for the pistol kept in the dresser drawer. She tells the lady in the mirror, 'he wont do this again' tonight will be the last time, she wonders where he's been." It always gave me chills.

3:30 in the mornin', not a soul in sight The city's lookin' like a ghost town on a moonless summer night Raindrops on the windshield, there's a storm movin' in He's headin' back from somewhere that he never should have been And the thunder rolls And the thunder rolls Every light is burnin' in a house across town She's pacin' by the telephone in her faded flannel gown Askin' for a miracle, hopin' she's not right Prayin' it's the weather that's kept him out all night And the thunder rolls Oh, and the thunder rolls Thunder rolls And the lightnin' strikes Another love grows cold On a sleepless night As the storm blows on, out of control Deep in her heart The thunder rolls She's waitin' by the window when he pulls into the drive She rushes out to hold him, thankful he's alive But on the wind and rain, a strange perfume blows And the lightnin' flashes in her eyes And he knows that she knows And the thunder rolls And the thunder rolls Thunder rolls And the lightnin' strikes Another love grows cold On a sleepless night As the storm blows on, out of control Deep in her heart The thunder rolls

I felt like I was all alone for the past two years and he was home with me, sad, betrayal and it is just the way that you will be able to make it in time
I remember being small and having my mom go to the city to shop
My dad would put on his big speaker system and blast this. Now that im older i know why he did. Its beautiful. Rip Dad ❤️
Listened to this as a youngster growing my ppl turn the whole house in to a dancd house.. it was a great peaceful childhood back then growing up miss then days and my folks!! Great tunes!!
Sitting by a window watching a thunderstorm and listening to this. It's perfect! Thank you! 🌩⚡️⛈️
Hello@cathy
How are you doing ☺
Where are you from?
I'm a life time metal head but I must say this song Isa banger. Bob Segar is a beast too. I miss music that had a story line to it. They don't make em like this anymore. ⚡ 🌩
I was lucky enough to see the full video of this song when it first came out on MTV before they banned it.
Why the hell was it banned? This is a song of a generation
@@SteelGlider they banned the video because of the ending and that's also why most radio stations that play it won't play the full song. The part where she shoots him.
Just lucky; I guess. Nope no guessing; I know I am right. The other guy whispered; you and me; we are the storm. Later, love , me some flannel.
Yeah i was fortunate enough to watch the video myself. I wish times were less censored like they used to be.

WOW! Everybody i have ever talked with about garth brooks would look at me like i was putting my phone into a microwave whenever i would tell them almost all of his songs on youtube are really just covers. They would argue with me and tell me im nuts. But then id have them listen to the LOW notes, and then, suddenly, my ears were the stuff of legends. Lol
Out of all the thunder rolls videos, this one is actually Garth brooks and not some cover artist.
Thomas Edwards To be honest one of the covers is good
Thomas Edwards love that voice
@@thevoicesaysimalmostoutofm5710 It is, but I could tell it wasn't Garth!!
Upchurch does a really good one
Finally!
I used to listen to it all the time on a CD in my dads pick up truck we would all sing along, some of the best memories i have of my brother before he left for basic training. Love you big brother and the memories we made
Heartbreaking story woven in so few words and emotions portrayed so well and sung with amazing voice...Thunder Rolls....
There’s a cover of this song and the singer’s voice is very bass and it sounds amazing! Trying to find it but it’s eluding me. Trust me I love Garth’s song but the cover is so good
Thank you so much I sincerely hope you never stop listening to my music ❤ can i get your mail so i can update you on the current
"but on the wind and rain a strange new perfume blows...
the lightning shines in her eyes, and he know that she knows"
And the thunder rolls. And the thunder rolls. Pant pant pant. Pant pant pant
Angelica haha I love that verse so much that i painted it on a piece of wood and made it a sign and hung it in my house lol
I love the original. State of mind did amazing and I enjoy the deeper tones
I don't particularly like much country music (and I'm not sure if this truly qualifies as such) but this song is freaking awesome!!
It's SO hard to find the real Garth. If you know the originals though you KNOW how it's supposed to sound. 😏
Yeah I've listened to the other versions and felt like they were wrong, I've only heard the original once or twice
@@jameszuidema2523 Well Garth wants people to pay for his music. Greedy.
@@jameszuidema2523 qQ
He is so hard to find because he doesn't want his music streamed
EXACTLY!!!!
Omg! The 2nd REAL Garth Brooks song on UA-cam I've heard today!! He or UA-cam must not know it's up or we wouldn't be listening to it. Rodeo is my favorite but I cannot find a REAL version anywhere! The other real song I found was the live version of Friends in Low Places.
This is Garth singing Rodeo ua-cam.com/video/DFT6Gkx7Cn4/v-deo.html and here is Friends In Low Places ua-cam.com/video/p0_der_5hRM/v-deo.html
On a windy stormy night in Texas on Christmas Eve with covid listening to the good stuff. I hope y'all all have a very merry Christmas ☃️🎄 glad I found this one, the other versions were getting on my nerves

Thank you for having the real version and not some not as good cover
You've got to fucking kidding me that you think that idiot cover, who has hijacked many of his songs, is better than Garth Brooks! Dude, there is only one Garth.
Kathy's_DamnGoodSong wait, I’ve read this like 8 times and I’m still not sure if you’re calling me an idiot or not lmao
@@sparkplugdoug4489 The dude that has hijacked many of his songs is the idiot. IDK why he is still on here with copyright infrigment. Well you both are if I read you post right & you think the cover is better than Garth. IDK maybe i didn't read it right, the "not some not as good as cover" is confusing & maybe that is not what you were saying. If not I apologize.
Kathy's_DamnGoodSong Lmaooooo naw you’re all good. It is confusing but I was saying that this is the far superior version too the covers
@@kathys_damngoodsong umm, you need to go back to school and relearn reading comprehension. I have read his comment like 10 times and it clearly says the cover is stupid and is saying this is the original and not the cover. Smfh. How stupid do you look getting on here and calling someone an idiot because he shares the same opinions as you? Lmao 🤣
The sound effect of the thunder makes the song go really well.
This song resonates on so many different levels. 🥰
"I don't usually listen to Country. But when I do..."
So true friend so true. Good music here
Yep
“The thunder rolls”
Agreed! Modern country is a farcry to the good days
Frfr ong ong
He came around at the right time- I'm a metal head and I could appreciate his greatness
When I hear hail hit.. I always play this song... my ex would always cry and curl in the corner.. she was afraid of tornados
Exactly me too but it’s something that I can’t get tired of
I was listening to this during a Tornado at my farm, EF-3 sized! And it was awesome to listens to ole Garth
Human nature , storms,, thunder and lightning PEOPLE ALL OF THE ABOVE
Had my mom listen to this for the first time today and she started to cry also gave goosebumps really a powerful song got to love Garth
Been looking every where for the proper version as its done by loads of other people on spotify 😩
I'd love to see you do is "WHAT HURTS THE MOST " by Rascal Flatts
There’s NO one as smooth as Garth. They honestly all sound like amateurs next to him. He’s got the greatest voice.
Eine Ewigkeit nicht mehr gehört, aber die Magie und die "Hühner haut" sind immer noch da👍

This song is one of the hits are the best of garth brooks.
Absolutely powerful. Strikingly surreal. One of Garth Brooks' best.
This song randomly popped in my head and I remembered hearing it when I was a kid but it’s nowhere to be found on iTunes. There’s only cover artist singing it. Ugh.
The combination of electric guitar and sounds of wind and thunder were absolutely brilliant 👏
Was hoping they had the extended verse "she runs back down the hallway, and through the bedroom door. She reaches for the pistol kept in the dresser drawer. She tells the lady in the mirror, 'he wont do this again' tonight will be the last time, she wonders where he's been." It always gave me chills.
My mom listened to this when I was just a little girl I never knew what the lyrics meant until today I'm so sorry momma😭

How many of us have felt like this? Women or men? It sucks.. and Garth summed it up in about 4 minutes!
This is one of the greatest country songs of all time! Certainly in the top five ... maybe #1!
As the storm moves in... the thunder rolls...

3:30 in the mornin', not a soul in sight
The city's lookin' like a ghost town on a moonless summer night
Raindrops on the windshield, there's a storm movin' in
He's headin' back from somewhere that he never should have been
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
Every light is burnin' in a house across town
She's pacin' by the telephone in her faded flannel gown
Askin' for a miracle, hopin' she's not right
Prayin' it's the weather that's kept him out all night
And the thunder rolls
Oh, and the thunder rolls
Thunder rolls
And the lightnin' strikes
Another love grows cold
On a sleepless night
As the storm blows on, out of control
Deep in her heart
The thunder rolls
She's waitin' by the window when he pulls into the drive
She rushes out to hold him, thankful he's alive
But on the wind and rain, a strange perfume blows
And the lightnin' flashes in her eyes
And he knows that she knows
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
Thunder rolls
And the lightnin' strikes
Another love grows cold
On a sleepless night
As the storm blows on, out of control
Deep in her heart
The thunder rolls
