Me too! I can't wait to get started! I've arranged with Bryan for me to go ahead and fix the cracks (cabin top and deck) even though the boat is not technically ours yet. The awesome folks at Totalboat have already shipped the materials. It should get here in the middle of next week. With a little bit of luck, I'll be grinding fiberglass in a few days ;)
@@SailLife Yes, even some tarping would help. rolls of duct tape to temp seal the deck holes. cut up a cheap tarp to cover old patches and fans inside.

As a Naval ArchItect & Marine Engineer with almost 50 years in the proffesion (next september 15 will be tha aniversary) I'd suggest a very careful check-up of all structural bulkheads, specially which is fitted under the mast, catamaran are subjects under torsional efforts anf fatigue is very treacherous.... and my second advice, don't worry about the close or open of the cabinets while the boat is docked. The flexion is different when tey are afloat, so, wait until to be floatin, and then, chech-up the opening and closing... the rest, blood, sweat and WORK!!!!
Couldn't agree more. Catamarans are somewhat closer to aircraft (imo). To your point, if they're doing a refit on land, some thought has to be given to "squaring" the boat, just like how aircraft are put into a repair jig for heavy depot maintenance. Would suck to do a cabin rebuild and then everything is out of square when it settles in the water.
@@SCFoster so true. Unfortunately this is Florida so doing work in the water is going to be costly. Getting the boat situated correctly on the hard is the next best thing although that might be difficult. These cats are flexy. I hope Mads doesn't gut and rebuild the interior only to find that it was all for nothing when he splashes it.

I doubt the OEM has reference points built into the hull, they exist in most automobiles, where a measuring system can tell if the frame is misaligned. If so then that could be used on the hard to jack the boat into alignment. If not, then it needs to go in the water to settle, then use lasers to mark reference points for post jacking alignment.
@@SCFoster I don't think you realize how every single boat, even "production boats," are a unique individual with huge variation from the designed dimensions. Every single hull comes out of the hull differently. Also fiberglass has a really large thermal coefficient of expansion. The same boat is going to measure differently at different temperatures. There needs to be quite large tolerances built into everything to account for this. When we brought our boat from Baltimore to Chicago that first winter the brass half-round strips over the mahogany rub rails literally popped off the boat when the hull shrank at about -10 degrees that firat winter. The brass rail was sticking out in wavy waves from the mahogany rub rails by six inches or more at spots and just ripped the screws that were holding it on right out and popped them into the ice and snow on the ground.
This IS a huge project, but you have proved that you've got the knowledge and skills to take it on. So if you also have the time and the money, then go for it! Catamarans are cool, and I'd love to see one rebuilt.
I really like you guys get the paperwork fixed quickly. I hope you get the AdSense situation figured out and fixed. I'll be honest, I'm glad you guys are going to have a massive project to work on, I'm really more of a boat building/repair channel guy rather than a sailing channel guy. I love the way you balance your channel content but I'm not so fond of others after the boats are complete.
I actually watched Bryan’s episodes on this boat and it’s a damn shame what’s happened. Watching him work was an experience, somehow he can totally function among all the clutter and I have to admit it made for some exciting moments!
I felt Mat like a tiger in a cage, going around in circles with his Athena DIY . Now, I feel the beast roar, and the sanding superman begins to impatiently show his muscles. I have no doubt that with Jane-Ava, this catastrophic jungle will become the most beautiful and technological Catamaran haha

Life happens. Often it is easier to just walk away when it gets to be too much rather than hold onto broken dreams that are unattainable or just too high of a personal cost to be worth it. There are so many broken dreams boats out there rotting away on the hard, laying in marinas, and especially anchored out back somewhere dericlict. Better to sell and get something out of it before it is too late. Boats left for more than a little while just turn into what we are seeing here even with the best of prep.
Mads and Ava, I have followed you from Obliex. I was very impressed with your workmanship when I visited you aboard Athena in Plymouth. The video does not show how well you finished Athena. Your patience to achieve the best of everything you have done is your greatest asset. You both look very excited about your new project. In my experience, fixing, repairing and improving a yacht are far more rewarding than actually sailing. I look forward to many more months (years) of oh glorious sanding 👍👍👍
That makes a lot of sense! I already have a loose plan in mind: 1) stop all leaks into the boat 2) airconditioning to cool down and dry out the interior 3) fix the issue with water in the port keel 4) after that there are a couple of different routs I can take :)
I would seriously look into having a decent temporary electrical service run over to the boat rather than trying to do such a major project on one 20A circuit with likely significant voltage drop on a single temporary drop cord. A 40A 120/240v temporary turtle panel would be ideal so you could run power tools, AC, decent shop lighting, etc. If it coule be bonded to a ground rod right there near the boat that would be best for safety.
Half of me says "Run!" The other half says this project should be good for DIY projects, which I love. There also is the X Factor of seeing this $hitbox of a boat turned around and made into an absolute gem...
Like you say no one should criticise Bryan because they’ve not spent a day in his shoes, my thoughts are he is the type of bloke who would help others before getting his own jobs done, he may have worked in his own way which others find unorganised, but working with clean freaks is no walk in the park either, I’m glad that you couple have taken it on and I wish Bryan all the best on his new boat as well, I will be watching both channels every week

Doing what Bryan attempted to do (such a massive project while working full time is VERY hard). I think it's the perfect project for us because I'll hopefully be able to focus on the refit full-time. It's still a lot of work but at least there is only one thing to focus on :) Did you see that Bryan has a new catamaran? :) It seems like he found a good boat :)

After watching the last rebuild for years ,I was really enjoying watching Ava giving her tours of the new places they were visiting. Now more years of boat yards with the same old sanding ,fiberglass and endless repairs. I was really hoping to finally sea a sailing channel and all the adventures of seeing new exotic places. I'm convinced Mads is addicted to dyi and not into sailing as much as the rebuild process. See ya.
I’d highly recommend getting rid of the curved glass altogether. It will always crack. It will always leak. It will always frustrate you. You’re smart, Mads. You can figure out a way to get rid of those.
We actually already got a suggestion to do that from one of the guys who used to be a part of PDQ (the builder of the boat). It's something we'll definitely consider! :)
A good analogy is to compare your project to those folks who run half and full marathons, 26.2 miles. People who are not runners can not comprehend how to run that far. Runners recognize the work and effort required and are motivated by the goal. Congratulations on finding a project that excites you and makes you want to get to work every morning.
10:30 yeah, one of the tiny stupid things I love about cats is ... they don't lean. They don't even pitch as much as monohulls (because they're so much "stiffer" in the water because they're comparatively light. So things that open side to side or front to back is fine, and it's far more often that something will stay on the surface you left it (if not always in the same spot) and not end up on the deck, even while underway.
I’m probably one of your first 500 subscribers and watched when you fixed up your first boat. Your dream was to fix up A boat and cruise. I’m the naysayer- 10 yrs of your precious life goes by so fast and most spent on the hard or fixing boat stuff with very little sailing. I’d keep Athena and travel and be a cruiser which is what you always wanted to do.
@@masterv2118 that’s fair. He actually me mentioned a couple of times that he believes his dyi content pushes views. They are way down over recent yrs. UA-cam is a job. and like everyone else, they have to do what will make them money.
Multiple things come into play here. One is that I love cruising, but I don't think I'm old enough for it yet. Not being able to build stuff and be creative gets boring. The perfect scenario for me would be a split between fixing up one boat and sailing another. That is the exact scenario we're trying to get going. Technically, we have to leave the US for 15 days every year to renew our cruising permit. So, a split of working on the boat for 11 months and then cruising for one month might be nice. And you're correct in your reply to masterv2118. UA-cam is a job, and it is easier for us to get views on DIY because we don't do the whole drama/naked stuff. No shame to the channels that do. They're just playing the game - hate the game, not the player.
I agree with you. This project is bonkers. They’re not getting any younger. By the time they finish, they will be burnt out and probably have a couple kids. Maybe ready to settle down.

I’d keep it stock so the resale Value stays up there. No white paint or whatever. People want an Amel or oyster or whatever because it’s original.
With a refit of this magnitude I would consider building a dust collection system with a cyclone dust separator and remote start, it could be placed under the bridge deck so all you would have is a hose running to the inside or wherever you need it. Also for the electric power build a distribution center using a breaker panel with multiple outlets that way you could run a semipermanent cable over from the yards panel, running extension cords seems too flimsy. Me too; the travels were fun, but I really liked the times when MAs was refitting Athena. I am so looking forward for a new refit! Sail Life and Travels with Geordie and Tally Hoe are the highlights of my week. I can’t wait for the weekend when these vids are posted! There is something about Mad, how gentle and pleasant and calm he is. Now he’s got a work mate and she’s just as nice, so it will be double nice!

I remember when Bryan started to get to the point where he stopped working on the boat. I thought then I would love to see you both in the US making this boat glorious again. I think we are all ready to see the amazing work you both do and hearing the AMAZING work through on the how’s and why’s!!! Keep up the amazing work and hope the paperwork gets sorted out!!
A few comments. I was involved in replacing standing rigging of a Leopard and the best/cheapest source of wire/fittings was the boat builder. They had the exact specs for the boat and price was considerably less than local especially dealing with compact strand wire that many cats use. Same idea goes for the mast. Is it possible your bent mast can be sleeved and reused? Tape/tarp over the leaking holes, hatches. windows and maybe drape tarp over vulnerable fiberglass repairs to eliminate further damage. May want to evaluate how much time/level of perfection you spend on this cat project and whether you occasionally hire help. There are a few cat repair/cat kit YT projects and it seems subscribers/views drop off after 1.5 years- people can only watch so many fairing/sanding episodes before losing interest. Make sure you include having a solid hardtop/bimini in your plans either DIY or prof built if the original can't be repaired.
I saw Bryan's videos on this. It was a shame that he couldn't carry on. Life bites us all sometimes. On the bright side its going to be fun seeing Mads deal with the rest of the job. Are you able to keep Athena while you're fixing the Antares? A mix of boat work and sailing is a winning combo.
Having the workshop area under the boat is almost as good as when you were back in the shed with Athene. You can put up a temporary wall at each end and even lock stuff up there. Given the shear space a refit is going to be a lot easier than Athena. The square footage is of lesser concern in my experience.
I feel for Brian, live has its way of taking twists and turns. Hoping this helps him on his way to his next adventure and gets you a wonderful new build.
Crazy idea, during refit you can use plywood to turn the underside of the boat to a shed, and put an cheap A/C unit there..or when working in the boat just redirect the cool air up through the escape hatch.
I like how are both agreed on the project and clear that is what you want to do. It looks like a great boat, beware, catamaran prices are high at the moment so make sure it is what you want regardless of the anticipated restored value. It seems getting the structural repairs completed to a high standard and certified is the big hurdle on this one. Perhaps there are weight improvements where you can use foam cored fibreglass instead of all that plywood. I wonder if Mads will set up a CNC workshop under the boat.
No matter what you say or even think right now. Emotion IS a part of your decision. but what the heck...go for it. We are in it with you. This project is going to really increase your subs as well. Tens of thousands of new viewers inbound.
One simple reason for the cracked glass is that's its too tight in the frame as its facing the sun and when glass gets warm it expands and if its tight in the frame it cracks Looks a fantastic project enjoy

i love your channel and have watched all your oh glorious videos but when you said a years and years project it got me thinking you're a sailing channel and i do realize boat work is a big part of boating but have you ever calculated how much time you've actually spent on the water sailing compared to being on the hard doing boat work *edit don't worry i will continue watching

I've re-subscribed. The sailing stuff on Athena wasn't my cup of tea, but I'm now looking forward to a few years of work on this new one. I actively dislike catamarans for some reason I can't explain, but I can't wait to see you take this thing apart and then put it back together again.
If you go ahead, another good thing would be to make sure it's jacked up evenly and properly. I'm no expert but the Parlay Revival Vids show this process is VIP. Could be why cupboards are not opening, maybe humidity and moisture but thought I would mention it. Good Luck with the decision, its a big one.
Of the channels I've seen on UA-cam, you are the only one who I believe could be successful on a project like this. Hopefully all of the obstacles can be resolved and the project started. 🙂 Plus you can intersperse sailing and travel videos along with the build videos. Yay!
I was very very slightly worried when I heard mention of you all looking for a project boat months ago. I know content creation is hard but you were able to make very enjoyable balanced vids with both diy and cruising vlogs. My brain instantly had a massive reset as soon as I saw the Antares. This is a fantastic project and will be a gem after the completion in a few years and we get to go along for the ride. I know you will both be able to handle whatever needs to done on the boat with teamwork. I hope you don't run into yard or immigration issues as the project moves forward. I'm so excited to see what happens.

Keep in mind the reason the cabinets right tight,the boat isn't square! Look for bulkhead damage, put long level on the aft deck p/s in direction. Then see what the deck Bow will show you.
Wood expands and shrink with the amount of water in the wood, and it had and still is wet inside the boat. *I would recommend getting the biggest dehumidifier Mads can get his hands on, and dry out the entire boat, before working starts*

Hey Mads, I'm really looking forward to more glorious sanding! :D Have you considered transforming the Antares into a 100% electric power-cat? Lose the rigging, build the roof and extended bimini to take as many solar panels as possible and use second hand Tesla batteries for energy storage for example. There's also kite propulsion systems like the Wingit that can be added to extend range for the windier less sunny lattitudes.
Come back since you are doing this. TBH I enjoy the work more then the sailing. Knowing the thought and quality that goes in to your work, this boat will be A1

I subscribed to Bryan's channel as well, when he bought this boat. He's a very capable guy with many skills but there were signs that all was not well before his channel stopped. Now he's back, and in his latest video he's moved into a new boat and seems much happier with a return of his original enthusiasm (though tidiness was never his forte). I'm very happy that you've taken over the project, there's a ton of work but I know you're not afraid of that and watching you restore it to its former glory will be fascinating.
Run. Just me, but if it is NOT a free boat, run. The windows likely cracked because the vessel is torqued. Twisting. You need to level and square the vessel before doing anything. Even the previous repairs may break once you set the geometry to design specs at factory build points in space.
Windows are usually installed incorrectly, contrary to the makers' instructions. Plastic glazing can actually expand/contract by 1/16" per foot, from the cold of night to a hard noon sun. If the mounting does not allow that, the tensions created in the glazing guarantee crazing and cracks to follow in under five years. Sometimes well under. This is one reason why 3M VHB tape can be a better choice than screws and nuts, especially if you don't know how to throughbolt in a way that allows for expansion.
The vessel appears to have sat for some time with a lot of poorly stowed weight in it that may have distorted the whole vessel. Cracked Windows may be a hint of this problem. Hurricane season is here and that may provide options for a more reasonable project. I know you are very good with any sort of repairs and can fix it but!!! Good luck with all your projects.

It's probably worth about $100k or so in its current state.if they can get the title unsalvaged. If the rig were intact probably half again as much.

@@svbarryduckworth628 That's where lasers may help. I doubt the OEM has reference points built into the hull, they exist in most automobiles, where a measuring system can tell if the frame is misaligned. If so then that could be used on the hard to jack the boat into alignment. If not, then it needs to go in the water to settle, then use lasers to mark reference points for post jacking alignment.
@@SCFoster I don't think you realize how every single boat, even "production boats," are a unique individual with huge variation from the designed dimensions. Every single hull comes out of the hull differently. Also fiberglass has a really large thermal coefficient of expansion. The same boat is going to measure differently at different temperatures. There needs to be quite large tolerances built into everything to account for this.
When we brought our boat from Baltimore to Chicago that first winter the brass half-round strips over the mahogany rub rails literally popped off the boat when the hull shrank at about -10 degrees that firat winter. The brass rail was sticking out in wavy waves from the mahogany rub rails by six inches or more at spots and just ripped the screws that were holding it on right out and popped them into the ice and snow on the ground.
This IS a huge project, but you have proved that you've got the knowledge and skills to take it on. So if you also have the time and the money, then go for it! Catamarans are cool, and I'd love to see one rebuilt.

I really like you guys get the paperwork fixed quickly. I hope you get the AdSense situation figured out and fixed. I'll be honest, I'm glad you guys are going to have a massive project to work on, I'm really more of a boat building/repair channel guy rather than a sailing channel guy. I love the way you balance your channel content but I'm not so fond of others after the boats are complete.

From what I've seen, Bryan's fiberglass work looks good. It's a shame he didn't get paint/gelcoat on some of the repairs, but I totally understand :)
Life happens. Often it is easier to just walk away when it gets to be too much rather than hold onto broken dreams that are unattainable or just too high of a personal cost to be worth it.
There are so many broken dreams boats out there rotting away on the hard, laying in marinas, and especially anchored out back somewhere dericlict.
Better to sell and get something out of it before it is too late. Boats left for more than a little while just turn into what we are seeing here even with the best of prep.
Mads and Ava, I have followed you from Obliex. I was very impressed with your workmanship when I visited you aboard Athena in Plymouth. The video does not show how well you finished Athena. Your patience to achieve the best of everything you have done is your greatest asset. You both look very excited about your new project. In my experience, fixing, repairing and improving a yacht are far more rewarding than actually sailing. I look forward to many more months (years) of oh glorious sanding 👍👍👍

I've ALWAYS found a good cleaning PRIOR to starting allows for building a proper plan.
That makes a lot of sense! I already have a loose plan in mind: 1) stop all leaks into the boat 2) airconditioning to cool down and dry out the interior 3) fix the issue with water in the port keel 4) after that there are a couple of different routs I can take :)
I would seriously look into having a decent temporary electrical service run over to the boat rather than trying to do such a major project on one 20A circuit with likely significant voltage drop on a single temporary drop cord.
A 40A 120/240v temporary turtle panel would be ideal so you could run power tools, AC, decent shop lighting, etc. If it coule be bonded to a ground rod right there near the boat that would be best for safety.
Half of me says "Run!" The other half says this project should be good for DIY projects, which I love.
There also is the X Factor of seeing this $hitbox of a boat turned around and made into an absolute gem...
Like you say no one should criticise Bryan because they’ve not spent a day in his shoes, my thoughts are he is the type of bloke who would help others before getting his own jobs done, he may have worked in his own way which others find unorganised, but working with clean freaks is no walk in the park either, I’m glad that you couple have taken it on and I wish Bryan all the best on his new boat as well, I will be watching both channels every week

Doing what Bryan attempted to do (such a massive project while working full time is VERY hard). I think it's the perfect project for us because I'll hopefully be able to focus on the refit full-time. It's still a lot of work but at least there is only one thing to focus on :) Did you see that Bryan has a new catamaran? :) It seems like he found a good boat :)

After watching the last rebuild for years ,I was really enjoying watching Ava giving her tours of the new places they were visiting.
Now more years of boat yards with the same old sanding ,fiberglass and endless repairs. I was really hoping to finally sea a sailing channel and all the adventures of seeing new exotic places. I'm convinced Mads is addicted to dyi and not into sailing as much as the rebuild process. See ya.
I’d highly recommend getting rid of the curved glass altogether. It will always crack. It will always leak. It will always frustrate you. You’re smart, Mads. You can figure out a way to get rid of those.
We actually already got a suggestion to do that from one of the guys who used to be a part of PDQ (the builder of the boat). It's something we'll definitely consider! :)

A good analogy is to compare your project to those folks who run half and full marathons, 26.2 miles. People who are not runners can not comprehend how to run that far. Runners recognize the work and effort required and are motivated by the goal. Congratulations on finding a project that excites you and makes you want to get to work every morning.

10:30 yeah, one of the tiny stupid things I love about cats is ... they don't lean. They don't even pitch as much as monohulls (because they're so much "stiffer" in the water because they're comparatively light. So things that open side to side or front to back is fine, and it's far more often that something will stay on the surface you left it (if not always in the same spot) and not end up on the deck, even while underway.
I’m probably one of your first 500 subscribers and watched when you fixed up your first boat. Your dream was to fix up A boat and cruise.
I’m the naysayer- 10 yrs of your precious life goes by so fast and most spent on the hard or fixing boat stuff with very little sailing.
I’d keep Athena and travel and be a cruiser which is what you always wanted to do.
I agree and disagree, goals change with time as do the things that bring us joy.
@@masterv2118 that’s fair. He actually me mentioned a couple of times that he believes his dyi content pushes views. They are way down over recent yrs. UA-cam is a job. and like everyone else, they have to do what will make them money.
Multiple things come into play here. One is that I love cruising, but I don't think I'm old enough for it yet. Not being able to build stuff and be creative gets boring. The perfect scenario for me would be a split between fixing up one boat and sailing another. That is the exact scenario we're trying to get going. Technically, we have to leave the US for 15 days every year to renew our cruising permit. So, a split of working on the boat for 11 months and then cruising for one month might be nice. And you're correct in your reply to masterv2118. UA-cam is a job, and it is easier for us to get views on DIY because we don't do the whole drama/naked stuff. No shame to the channels that do. They're just playing the game - hate the game, not the player.
I agree with you. This project is bonkers. They’re not getting any younger. By the time they finish, they will be burnt out and probably have a couple kids. Maybe ready to settle down.

Ps. I’d keep it stock so the resale Value stays up there. No white paint or whatever. People want an Amel or oyster or whatever because it’s original.
With a refit of this magnitude I would consider building a dust collection system with a cyclone dust separator and remote start, it could be placed under the bridge deck so all you would have is a hose running to the inside or wherever you need it. Also for the electric power build a distribution center using a breaker panel with multiple outlets that way you could run a semipermanent cable over from the yards panel, running extension cords seems too flimsy. I remember when Bryan started to get to the point where he stopped working on the boat. I thought then I would love to see you both in the US making this boat glorious again. I think we are all ready to see the amazing work you both do and hearing the AMAZING work through on the how’s and why’s!!! Keep up the amazing work and hope the paperwork gets sorted out!!
A few comments. I was involved in replacing standing rigging of a Leopard and the best/cheapest source of wire/fittings was the boat builder. They had the exact specs for the boat and price was considerably less than local especially dealing with compact strand wire that many cats use. Same idea goes for the mast. Is it possible your bent mast can be sleeved and reused?
Tape/tarp over the leaking holes, hatches. windows and maybe drape tarp over vulnerable fiberglass repairs to eliminate further damage.
May want to evaluate how much time/level of perfection you spend on this cat project and whether you occasionally hire help. There are a few cat repair/cat kit YT projects and it seems subscribers/views drop off after 1.5 years- people can only watch so many fairing/sanding episodes before losing interest. Make sure you include having a solid hardtop/bimini in your plans either DIY or prof built if the original can't be repaired.
I saw Bryan's videos on this. It was a shame that he couldn't carry on. Life bites us all sometimes. On the bright side its going to be fun seeing Mads deal with the rest of the job. Are you able to keep Athena while you're fixing the Antares? A mix of boat work and sailing is a winning combo.
Having the workshop area under the boat is almost as good as when you were back in the shed with Athene. You can put up a temporary wall at each end and even lock stuff up there.
Given the shear space a refit is going to be a lot easier than Athena. The square footage is of lesser concern in my experience.
I think there is a lot of truth to that :)

Crazy idea, during refit you can use plywood to turn the underside of the boat to a shed, and put an cheap A/C unit there..or when working in the boat just redirect the cool air up through the escape hatch.

I like how are both agreed on the project and clear that is what you want to do. It looks like a great boat, beware, catamaran prices are high at the moment so make sure it is what you want regardless of the anticipated restored value. It seems getting the structural repairs completed to a high standard and certified is the big hurdle on this one. Perhaps there are weight improvements where you can use foam cored fibreglass instead of all that plywood. I wonder if Mads will set up a CNC workshop under the boat.
No matter what you say or even think right now. Emotion IS a part of your decision. but what the heck...go for it. We are in it with you. This project is going to really increase your subs as well. Tens of thousands of new viewers inbound.

One simple reason for the cracked glass is that's its too tight in the frame as its facing the sun and when glass gets warm it expands and if its tight in the frame it cracks

i love your channel and have watched all your oh glorious videos but when you said a years and years project it got me thinking you're a sailing channel and i do realize boat work is a big part of boating but have you ever calculated how much time you've actually spent on the water sailing compared to being on the hard doing boat work *edit don't worry i will continue watching
Haha :D To be honest, I would get bored if we kept sailing. I think a mix of building and sailing will be perfect (11 months of work and then one month of sailing)

I've re-subscribed. The sailing stuff on Athena wasn't my cup of tea, but I'm now looking forward to a few years of work on this new one. I actively dislike catamarans for some reason I can't explain, but I can't wait to see you take this thing apart and then put it back together again.
If you go ahead, another good thing would be to make sure it's jacked up evenly and properly. I'm no expert but the Parlay Revival Vids show this process is VIP. Could be why cupboards are not opening, maybe humidity and moisture but thought I would mention it. Good Luck with the decision, its a big one.
Of the channels I've seen on UA-cam, you are the only one who I believe could be successful on a project like this. Hopefully all of the obstacles can be resolved and the project started. 🙂 Plus you can intersperse sailing and travel videos along with the build videos. Yay!

I was very very slightly worried when I heard mention of you all looking for a project boat months ago. I know content creation is hard but you were able to make very enjoyable balanced vids with both diy and cruising vlogs.
My brain instantly had a massive reset as soon as I saw the Antares. This is a fantastic project and will be a gem after the completion in a few years and we get to go along for the ride. I know you will both be able to handle whatever needs to done on the boat with teamwork. I hope you don't run into yard or immigration issues as the project moves forward.

Keep in mind the reason the cabinets right tight,the boat isn't square! Look for bulkhead damage, put long level on the aft deck p/s in direction. Then see what the deck Bow will show you.
Wood expands and shrink with the amount of water in the wood, and it had and still is wet inside the boat.
*I would recommend getting the biggest dehumidifier Mads can get his hands on, and dry out the entire boat, before working starts*

Have you considered transforming the Antares into a 100% electric power-cat? Lose the rigging, build the roof and extended bimini to take as many solar panels as possible and use second hand Tesla batteries for energy storage for example. There's also kite propulsion systems like the Wingit that can be added to extend range for the windier less sunny lattitudes.

I subscribed to Bryan's channel as well, when he bought this boat. He's a very capable guy with many skills but there were signs that all was not well before his channel stopped. Now he's back, and in his latest video he's moved into a new boat and seems much happier with a return of his original enthusiasm (though tidiness was never his forte). I'm very happy that you've taken over the project, there's a ton of work but I know you're not afraid of that and watching you restore it to its former glory will be fascinating.
We're excited about this opportunity, and I'm very happy that Bryan has found a new boat :) I think this is a classic case of win-win :)

The windows likely cracked because the vessel is torqued. Twisting. You need to level and square the vessel before doing anything. Even the previous repairs may break once you set the geometry to design specs at factory build points in space.

Windows are usually installed incorrectly, contrary to the makers' instructions. Plastic glazing can actually expand/contract by 1/16" per foot, from the cold of night to a hard noon sun. If the mounting does not allow that, the tensions created in the glazing guarantee crazing and cracks to follow in under five years. Sometimes well under.
This is one reason why 3M VHB tape can be a better choice than screws and nuts, especially if you don't know how to throughbolt in a way that allows for expansion.
The vessel appears to have sat for some time with a lot of poorly stowed weight in it that may have distorted the whole vessel. Cracked Windows may be a hint of this problem. Hurricane season is here and that may provide options for a more reasonable project. I know you are very good with any sort of repairs and can fix it but!!! Good luck with all your projects.

Cover the curved glass areas with fiberglass . Only replace flat glass, fiberglass the rest. flat glass panels are cheaper and easier to install
