“For whom the bell tolls” was in the opening sequence for the movie “Zombieland”
Though that's technically a comedy
It kinda fits, that intro gives you the vibe that some shit is going down
Bro, I’m a 46-year-old man who grew up with gangsta rap and Metallica. I feel like you have brought me back to my childhood (with a lot of your reaction videos) and have made it quite apparent that at some point I would love to shake your hand. I am new to UA-cam and new to reaction videos. Thank you for what you’re doing. I feel like you are Making a musical/racial divide Disappear . For that, I Thank you; Rick-
Amen
What I will say is there is a lot of black folk listening to rock music on here, and a lot of older white males who react to hip hop. I like the reactions of people discovering genres of music they’re not necessarily familiar with, there is something somewhat addictive about watching people learn and discover new music.
same, this has reminded me how much i used to love metallica
Howdy fellow old person. (46 too. LOL).
Lol I found this channel through an eminem reaction, ended up listening to metallica. This is my new favorite youtube channel for sure.
I got lucky during my last show. Hetfield played Unforgiven on our side of the stage. Was awesome live!
Although many Metallica fans would disagree but I think Ride the Lightening is their best album. I got it back in 84 when it was released and was my first TRUE metal record and was in love instantly. Creeping Death, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Fight Fire With Fire, Trapped Under Ice, Fade To Black and Call of Ktulu are songs I could listen to over and over without getting sick of them.
Edmund S
I’ve always said MoP is their best album but RtL is my favorite.
If MoP had the RtL Hetfield vocals, it would be my favorite.
1a and 1b basically.
Ride the lightning was dope
The song RTL too
Edmund S. agreed ride is a great album
Ride the lightning was the song that hooked me on metal. First Metallica song I found on good Ole limewire
If your into instrumentals, then the 3 of Metallica you should do is The Call of Ktulu, Orion, and To Live Is To Die. #Metallica 🔥🔥😎😎
Nathan Caveney Hell Yeah 😎
this need more votes!
Ruben Montenegro you got that right bro 😎
wtf bro? what about master cliff's bass solo anesthesia (pulling teeth)??
Everything in the first 5 albums is gold .
Metallica - Of Wolf and Man. Would love to see a reaction to that song!
Can't go wrong with any songs from the Metallica's black album
Hard to go wrong with anything from their first 5 album's.
Holier Than Thou is pretty bad, and Enter Sandman is way too overplayed; Struggle Within is just boring
Corbin I actually love holier than thou lmao
I have to disagree with you about the black album. In my opinion it's 50 50. Half the songs are good and half the songs are kinda lacking. After that album I stopped listening to them. They cut their hair and started playing what I call corporate rock. Load of shit. Reload of shit. I'll take early Metallica any day.
Eton Bachs lmao I got so depressed when the cut their hair
god damn that Unforgiven song hits my right in the heart everytime.
Not really a metal or Metallica fan (well not since the high school football locker room) but I can appreciate their music. Love when I see people step out of their wheel house and can also appreciate the music regardless of genre.
When I was a young adult I never really cared for them. I’m more a 70s rock girl, with some exceptions like Pat Benetar and Heart.
But now in my 50sr, I really appreciate Metallica’s sound and poetry.
You weren’t just feeling those tunes, you were living them!! Love the energy in your reactions.
Pantera - Cemetery Gates, Walk, Five Minutes Alone, Broken, Mouth For War, Cowboys From Hell
GET READY TO ROCK YOUR FACE OFF! Best guitarist in metal, amazing drummer and the singer is Intensity Incarnate! 🤘
Lynyrd Skynyrd- Free Bird. If you want a religious experience with someone playing a guitar. Insane!!!!
Metallica reminds me of my grandma's basement. One of my uncles lived in the basement and had it sectioned off with blankets for privacy. There were extra beds for us grandkids in the other areas. Every night he would play Metallica. ❤
Kirk Hammett is an ENORMOUS horror movie fan so that has to bleed into their music.
They also did and amazing cover of Bob Seger's Turn the page in which Bob said in an interview he thought it was amazingly done that would be a good double to do both Metalica's version and Bob's just a thought !!
Yes EL ! The Unforgiven song of Metallica shines on down on across my life Bro ! If you have Regrets ! Let them go. Cause you can not control everything that happens throughout your life much of what Metallica is saying ! Going Back looking on life now Bro 3 yrs gone by since !
Intro is some of the best BASS RIFFS I've ever heard! RIP CLIFF.
My favorite line from "For Whom The Bell Tolls" is..."take a look to the sky just before you die, it's the last time you will" is pure poetey!!! This entire song is is a masterpiece!!! As is "Fade To Black"!!! My two favorite Metallica songs!!! Thank you for reacting to these awesome songs!!! I hope that you have a wonderful and blessed day my friend!!! 🙂🙂🙂🙂 🐧🐧
You tubers need to take a page from your playbook . Having triple sets of songs is genius . Certainly keeps me listening . Great work sir !!!
You REALLY need to react to metallica Seattle 89 show, young, hungry, boozed up and coked up...can't beat that
silent phantom only Lars was on coke lol
Phantom Lord, Harvester of Sorrow, Halo on Fire, Fade to Black....pretty fkn fun watching you become a Metallica fan, the greatest metal band of all time!
FWTBT plays at the beginning of Zombieland. The actual singing only lasts a couple minutes but the song is over 5 minutes long. That guitar solo in The Unforgiven is SICK! Always been one of my favorites.
ive gained so much respect for you. I'm Canadian, French and Polish. And yes I'm white. I grew up on rock and have gained a deep respect of rap. You are a respectful of artists regardless of their craft.
Never disappoint with your song choices!
You know!
Seriously. Best channel
What you're probably hearing is the fact that a lot of rock and metal songs are in a minor key. If I remember correctly, "For Whom the Bell Tolls" is in Em. Minor keys bring out a feeling of dread and people have been using that particular trick since the Classical days.
LOVE IT! My youth is coming back in waves...
Great reaction ! The lyrics actually refer to the singer labeling the ones who controlled his religious thoughts and actions (his parents, and their church) Unforgiven for not allowing him to express his true self and truly be the human being he was potentially meant to be.
If you know the history of the lead singer, James Hetfield's childhood, then this song becomes even that much more powerful.
Bruh, 2 words
O-Rion....trust me, it'll take you places
Its one word
Jose Gonzalez that reminds me of the dude on to catch a predator who says “2 words dude, role playing chat room” 😂🤦🏻♂️
Orion is one word lol
Orion is a fucking masterpiece
Not surprised you felt like you were in a horror movie. Most of Metallica’s early music was a huge adrenaline dump into the senses. Same feeling as running from danger or kicking someone’s ass. I’m sure war takes that to a whole other level. Thankfully, I’ve never been through that, but thanks and props to those that have or do!
A note for the baseball fan that you seem to be: Enter Sandman was Mariano Rivera's warm-up song when he came into the game. It doesn't get much more badass than that for a closer.
Unforgiven parts 1 and 2 form an absolutely stunning, yet deeply sad story of a person who was abused as a child and as a result struggles to form intimate relationships or trust anyone as an adult and ended up killing someone. "The door cracks open, but there's no sun shining through" Fuck I love music
Love Metallica, that's one of my favorites from them.
You earned my subscription! Keep it up with Metallica!
-Wherever I Many Roam
-Spit Out The Bone
-Fade to Black
-The Day That Never Comes
-No Leaf Clover (with San Francisco Symphony Orchestra)
-and so many more...
The unforgiven is my most favorite Metallica song!!
For whom the bell tolls was the theme song to Zombieland
When I hear For Whom the Bell Tolls i think of the flaming guy in slow motion at the beginning of Zombieland now.
I'd forgotten. And I have the movie,lol.
love that movie
Maybe the greatest opening song to a movie ever!
B Cherry I think of the zombie stripper chasing some guy
I was born the same year the released there first album and I always felt a extra since of attraction to there music help me throughout my years
You have the best metal reactions! Would love to see a Pantera trio of cowboys from hell, walk, and cemetary gates.
Keep up the great work!
good call
Domination in Moscow
Don Keetik he should react to the whole albums. Vulgar Display Of Power and Cowboys From Hell
+1
Me too
On a side note, you're totally me in the car listening to music so excited you don't know WHAT instrument you wanna air play lol. You went from guitar to drums and back so quick! Lol
I love when rock mixes with classical so Metallica with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra is some of my favorite mixes of their music, especially Enter Sandman.
As a 29 year veteran of the US Military and as a combat soldier who participated in God only knows how many firefights I can tell you without a doubt this (For Whom The Bell Tolls) is The Combat Infantrymans Hymn as far as I’m concerned.
3 songs off ...ajfa next?
- Blackened
- ...And Justice for All
- To Live Is To Die (instrumental)
Or Harvester of Sorrow
And Justice for All
The Shortest Straw
@@tomscholtes5082

One of my all time Fav bands!! James is a bad ass guitarist also! Him & Kirk Rock like no others!! Frfr
Metallica Spit out the bone. It's a definite must watch!! Keep up the amazing videos!!
I have so much respect for you. Thank you for doing such a wide range of music. My husband likes listing to your knowledge and how you see things. Much respect 💗
Pantera domination Moscow 91 ...I would make a exception to a lyric video if I was you and watch that video if you want high energy... .and around 1.6 million people at that festival ...oh and metallica was also at that show helicopters flying around ...crazy stuff
AC/DC headlined that
Yup
Their there too.
Whiskey in the Jar, I think you would really enjoy it. One of my favs from Metallica
React to The Unforgiven 1, 2 and 3!
The last one is solid man...
Saludos desde Argentina!
Unforgiven 3 always gets me
I like 2 the most
To watch you step “outside your box” with open mind and enjoy is a testament of what we should all do.
Great stuff bruh, keep bangin!!!
I grew up in the Bronx in the 80’s-90’s where hip hop was born and grown...but was lucky enough to come from an eclectic family. There is beauty in all music if you just listen.
Powerful shit, my guy.
Damn L, my friend, You are a HEADBANGER. don't let your Chiropractor know! See, Metal/Hard Rock just makes you move. Music is theatre you can't see, only feel.
That's why I listen to rock/metal. The instrumentation gets me. I barely pay attention to the lyrics. I love "For Whom the Bell Tolls" because the riffs and drums feel so heavy. I also love the bass guitar riff in the intro.
Instrumentation in songs usually have hooks for me, the way choruses have hooks for most other people.
You would absolutely LOVE Walk by Pantera and also 5 Minutes Alone by the same band. Sooo great to listen to when you're mad at someone.
Kirk's solo in Unforgiven is my favorite guitar solo of all time.
This song is so mean!!!! Such a badass classic!!! 🤘🤘 The music video gave me nightmares when I was little... Lol!
Watched your reaction to One, War Pig and Master of Puppets. You made the comment how you had the wrong impression of rock, thinking it was just a bunch of people banging their heads. and you half way through the song you were banging your head!!!
Love your reaction videos man and your evolution to rock music.
keep doing what your doing man!!!
I love seeing the journey man! Good on ya! Enter Sandman was the song that made me pick up a guitar! There is a reason why everything this band puts out goes platinum! Glad to see you like this and have an open mind! Keep it going man! Don't stop opening your heart and your mind! Peace
lol, L didn’t know which way to bob his head...loved it.
In case you were unaware, on the intro to For Whom The Bells, the high pitched riff you hear from 8 seconds in is actually a Bass Guitar instead of a Electric Guitar. A lot of people won't pick up on this, since the Bass Guitar usually occupies the lower end of the sound spectrum, but Cliff Burton plays that intro on the higher end for a unique sound.
I spend a lot of time listening to music by myself so it’s pretty cool having you in the room listening. Good stuff bro.
Rap and Rock/Heavy Metal have always had a connection. They are very similar styles.
Hello love your reaction channel.
I grew up listening to Linda Ronstadt singing in Spanish beautifully done. She’d sing the songs her father grew up hearing but she didn’t speak Spanish but you’d never know that. Her execution was flawless.
Also listened to Led Zeppelin to rap. I’m 44 so glad I was exposed to lil of everything.
Thank you for really considering the constructive criticism. I wonder how it feels almost daily to have your mind blown. I wish I could go back and listen to all these songs again for the first time. I'm so jealous.
Appreciation right back at ya friend! Thank you for all your effort bringing peeps together through music. 👊💕🎸🎶✌🏼
Look into Cliff Em All live in Moscow, its sick! Cliff Burton was Metallicas bassist who had unbelievable talent
They do say music is a universal language
when he said "should have kids listen before bed who are scared" I had to lol, and said out loud just wait. sure enough, "maybe don't"
Glad to see you enjoying Metallica. Seen other reaction guys not getting it. It's nice that you are giving it a real chance. And, just because I'm here #GoTexans! LOL! Couldn't resist.
I love Metallica. They have been through hell and back and are still together and still touring.😂
Hey there. Kym from Western Australia here.
AC/DC are Australian if you didn’t know. I grew up with these guys and they still rock.
Could you please review AC/DC, Thunderstruck-Live at River Plate.
You won’t regret it. That crowd is heaving!
Thanks. :)
just a reply to your " thank you for your support" comment, youre good at these videos. I really enjoy watching them. Wish I could meet you personally so I can get some tips on how to do them. Keep up the good work man. youre doing some great music and I love your reactions
I concur with the gentlemen below. Good job on listening instead of giving a opinion every other note. Keep em coming
When Black Sabbath first began what we now call the heavy metal genre, they were partially inspired by seeing people leaving the cinema after watching horror movies (they were also inspired by their dreary, post-war, industrial surroundings). They asked themselves, why is it that people pay to be scared at the movies? Then they decided that they would write music that scares people just like horror movies. This is probably why you get a horror movie vibe when you hear metal.
Dude!!! You MUST check out 'For Whom The Bells Tolls' live in Seattle 1989!!!! You will be blown AWAY!!!!
You definitely get it, getting lost in metal songs. Close your eyes and just become lost in the beat, the rhythm, the melody, and the words. It's OK to feel. Open your heart. It's there a rap song that you can lose yourself in? Serious question, i would love to hear. Songs that make your heart move.
Bro go see Metallica Live in Concert they the best Heavy Metal Band in the world 👍 I saw them live in Cape Town South Africa & they was incredible 👍
'For whom the bell tolls' is used in opening credits for film 'Zombieland'!
New subscriber here. Not sure if you have seen it yet or not, but Creeping Death live from Moscow 1991. You will not be disappointed. Almost 1.6 million fans for a good time.
They used to play this as we ran out on the football field every game😂
If you are going through horror movies in your head, then, “For whom the bell tolls,” has served it’s purpose, my man.
Great video.. I love watching others path to discovering the greatness that is Metallica
You should check Metallica - Enter Sandman Live in Moscow 1991 HD. My favourite live performance.:)
Three cheers for these songs, definitely three of my favourites. You rock.
For me it sounds like childhood. Race cars (uncle used to race the dirt track )motorcycles (bio dad was a biker ) big rigs(step dad hauled propane tankers ) and trains cuz the tracks were behind my house and of course it was on the stereo 🤘🏼. I’m a dork 👍🏼
Just for interest sake, that intro of "For whom the bell tolls" was done on a bass guitar by the phenomenal Cliff Burton. Not a lot of people that can get a bass guitar to make that sound. He passed away in the mid 80s. RIP.
I absolutely love your reactions!!! I'm 60 and love all the music you do!!!!!!
You like having the back story to the music you listen to, then you should watch “behind the music “ the things that they (Metallica) went through on the way to stardom is inconceivable. But they pushed through it all and are the reining masters of metal.
at 20:06 "HEH HEYAAH!" LOL Awesome!!
Classic songs I grew up with. Love the channel, keep on going!
Support def given here!! Love your Channel. Thank you!
Oh MAAAAN. You gotta check out the actual music video for The Unforgiven. It's so sad but very symbolic. I remember watching it as a little girl and having nightmares. Lol
Great ones! Next Metallica trio should be from their $5.98 ep. “The Wait” “The Small Hours” and “Crash Course in Brain Surgery”. Covers of songs from bands that inspired Metallica. 🤟🔥🤟
Absolutely love Metallica. As for the correlation between rock songs and horror movies, you maybe be right. Black Sabbath had a song called No More Tears that for some reason I'm almost certain was in a Freddy Krueger movie
Knowing how you like guitars I’ll suggest Orion by Metallica. A great instrumental that will take you on an emotional journey. Then I would suggest Spit Out the Bone. Shows you that in 2016 they could still thrash with the best bands out there. Metallica- the masters of long intros and multiple transitions. Rock On 🤘 🤘🤘
Gahhhh we are on the same music wave this AM, I was just rockin it with the metal version of Adele's Hello. 😍😍 Metallica is a classic that cant be outdone, much like Kiss, Aerosmith, Queen, et al. I loved watching you get into it. Thats a band the air guitars are a MUST for!!
I felt accomplished as a Mom when on the way to FL for a cruise my child, 10/11 at the time, who had his Beatz on started loudly singing Bohemian Rhapsody & Highway To Hell. My Dad was riding shotgun and cut his eyes at me as I grinned and made the fist motion with "yes!" 😂😂
So you're the one I'm chasing in that damn movie . Lol . nice to see reactions from people who aren't metalheads to metal music .
You absolutely must check out “The Unforgiven 2” & “The Unforgiven 3”! Also “The Memory Remains”.
New sub here! I've been a Metallica fan since I was in 8th grade. ...And Justice For All had just released. I've seen them twice in concert - 1992 and last year. They put on a fucking amazing live show. Especially when they play "One". Highly recommend seeing them live even now. I'm not normally a wild person but I utterly transformed both times I saw them live lol. Moving on to your other Metallica reactions. Been enjoying your Queen and Weird Al ones all week.
Every night when I was a kid, my dad would say that part of Enter Sandman to me
Would love to see you at a concert with Metallica!!!!
Getting lost in it is what it's all about brother, that's why we love it so. The reason maybe u feel like u'r in a horror movie situation is that they do use a lot of metal in horror movies. The opening of Zombieland starts with for whom the bell tolls I believe, it's just got such a raw & savage sound that just grips u from start to finish. Rob Zombie would be a great one to dive into, plus his videos are like mini horror movies. Dragula is one of his most popular, Enjoy.
