Was watching another one of your videos the other night, where you mentioned the fatal mistake of the long pause when trying to get a follower to commit. You mentioned giving quick, erratic inputs, instead of pauses, to try to trigger a reaction bite.
I’ve ended up utilizing that same retrieve thought in conventional baits; specifically in retrieving lipless cranks.
I was already having some unexpected success running them high and fast in shallower waters, but after implementing this periodic erratic retrieve my bite percentage has gone up considerably.
I even had one this evening that hit the bait; it spit it after trying to set it, and within a foot from where it threw the bait, I was able to trigger another bite from it, which lead to landing the fish.
I was telling a friend afterwards, it’s one of those time where you sit back and think, “I’m doing it right. I’m causing these reaction bites to be triggered, it’s not just the bait.”

Any tips for Junaluska bro? Seem to be very picky. I fish out of a yak and have only gotten a 4 pounder at best. But have seen GIANTS in bedding season.

Just grab a less desirable color. It will be waaaay cheaper for you, then have one of the many super talented painters get you taken care of. They can copy any paint job out there. Those very desirable color patterns are crazy expensive .
