Your one of the only guys saying use a split ring … everything else they say tie direct , I’ve tried both it’s more consistent with direct tie … but to each his own try it out either way
I definitely think everyone has their own way to fish big baits, but I also believe that the fish like a specific action too lol. For instance, the fish here in my bodies of water like the more erratic action on smaller glides. But anything 8” or bigger they react more so to the slow wide glide. That’s why I go snap on this one 👊🏻
Curveball here- I tie direct with a loop knot. Gives the lure the freedom to move, without introducing another point of potential failure (snap).
I haven’t had one bite or follow on mine yet. Fingers crossed

Maybe switch up how your working it, my brother uses this and has never gotten skunked with it
Change your cadence up. Throw up to cover. You will get bit. You will catch some small ones but you will caught more big ones.
