What a privilege being able to have such a book and the knowledge to read and understand at that time.

I love this channel, I've been watching it for years but I don't think I've ever left a comment. So here's my one and only comment. This is an easy channel to watch. 👍👍

The only thing rivaling the beauty of the book is David's comment below, lol. I see I have competition for most rabid (read as: enthusiastic, devoted) Smarthistory fan. 👀
I remember some similar texts from the medieval playlist and they're all stunning. The amount of intricacy and craftsmanship involved in their creation was surprising to learn about.
I'm grateful for pioneering minds - then and now - who've dared to dream of worlds beyond our own and tenaciously pursue knowledge.

This book is proof of the process that helped Europe to become great and powerful - people were allowed (mostly) to not just compile but compare and track knowledge over time. That's how science (and mastery of the environment) grow - It's not a perfect process if people and common sense and humanism aren't included - but it is a path to progress and the possibility of a good outcome. (If my library contained a book like this one, I think I might never go outside for fresh air)...
