One thing to add related to marriage: As it has become the norm for both parents in a household to work, It has also become increasingly necessary to have two adults working to comfortably sustain a household/family. The ruling class seems to have reconfigured the system so that it provides the same benefit for twice the work since the 1970s.

I love this comment and I consider myself conservative. I believe there is more we all agree about than disagree and we can all respectfully come together in conversation about what we want in this country. I believe we want the same end goals, we just have different ideas on how to get there. One of the lessons I learned from the 2016 election is that, this president not being the conventional Republican candidate at all (being formerly registered democrat), challenged the Republican party and made us look at our goals for our country instead of how it has always been done. Many "woke up" then and many more have followed, as democrats have also joined this president. He celebrates and finds his inspiration and strength in the hardworking common man. We find that there are more similarities in us rather than differences. Admittedly, this pres was not my first choice, or even second choice. I didn't know what to expect which made me tentative. But he has proven to have the desire to work with all. I hope more will see the bigger picture together as we preserve this country to be the strong one our founding fathers laid down their lives, giving their all, in establishing this greatest constitutional republic in liberty that the world has ever known. But to be credible, you need to show exactly what it is you're complaining about. If you think someone is lying, post their "lie." Otherwise _you're_ being a hack. Without examples, you're being a parrot for Big Media. When the media constantly tells you someone is a hack, or a liar, you're just head-nodding along, without trying to verify if it's true, or not. You've become another victim ofthe media's propaganda. The media has you parroting its message. But shouldn't you be agrreeing or disagreeing with the facts that Carlson pointed out? Because attacking the person who is pointing out a problem is a logical fallacy. It's called an _ad hominem_ error.
When you go down that road, you'll end up where the media wants you to be. But it's probably not where you think you're going.

Tucker, this is very well said. I have grown up watching all these changes happening and it continues to concern me also. 1961 was not the begining of big government but, it did encourage the downfall of the family.

Couldn't agree more. This is one of the most insightful analyses I've heard among pundits in a very long time. In this particular case, the points he's making echo across Western Europe as well. Watching the Gilets Jaunes over the past 2 months has been both an inspiration and a stunning recognition of just how poor the French people have become as their government has siphoned off every material thing they have to pay for free stuff for migrants, a Quixotic energy policy, and to line the pockets of lawyers and politicians more interested in bringing prosperity to Africa than they were in bringing it to their own lands.

I want my children to be able to decide whether they want to live in Wyoming and raise horses or move to Hollywood and become an actor maybe they will wan to move to Ohio and work in a steel mill. Needless to say I want my children to be able to succeed or fail on their own while never having to interact with the government unless of course that's what they choose to do. Government should have no say in are lives unless we choose to live in governments arms.
People who take welfare should not be allowed to vote. That's what the Swiss do.

Samuel Adam I guess the only two things I disagreed with are that women making more than men is necessarily a problem. I think the main issue is men and women working a full time job and not being able to make ends meet. Plus, I think Tucker should have been more specific when he referenced “socialism”, because yeah, Venezuela type socialism is terrible. But when most of my peers say socialism, what they actually mean is social democracy, the type found in Norway, Germany, Australia, Japan, and Canada.
But overall, I think Carlson is a great host for Fox News, he doesn’t tow the line and actually thinks for himself.
I know a lot of my Republican friends and family feel the same way towards elites and their control of society that I do. The media likes to portray America as irreparably divided, but it isn’t the case.

Samuel Adam I agree. And unlike a lot of other leftists. I get why so many people voted for Trump. I’ve been saying from the beginning that it wasn’t racism or sexism. It was giving a giant middle finger to the establishment, the Bushes, the Clintons, the media, etc.
And Hillary never had a chance since she was way too out of touch.
I think a united populist front would do a lot of good. We work together on that which we agree and go back to debating on the things we don’t.
Mayhzon Hey, I love Germany. I’m half German after all. But socialism is not what their problem is. They’re a capitalist country with strong social welfare and it’s been working pretty well. Germany has higher standards of living than the US, longer life expectancies, higher growth per year, etc. Yes, all of Europe has been experiencing economic problems, but the problems are so much deeper than blaming the welfare state. Blame Merkel’s austerity measures for one thing.
Yes, like opening the EU to more countries than its currency could be fair to. It mad a power grab and the behest of what it originally was marketed as a free tax zone

As a traditionalist conservative with libertarian leanings, I finally feel represented in the media as of viewing this monologue. Not entirely, because I don't think there's a solution. But partially, because Tucker has put his finger on the problem with consumerism.

I don't condemn authoritarian conservatism where it has been necessary to survival (e.g., Prussia, Russia, and Imperial China). But on the Rhine, on the Thames, in Peloponnesia; liberty is more characteristic of our ancestors.
