Jim Cornette was trending on social media this past week over a UA-cam thumbnail he used for a video discussing Swerve Strickland. The thumbnail showed Jim Cornette as a gorilla, Swerve himself, and a Q-tip.
Many called it racist and slammed Jim for being insensitive, including wrestlers in the business. Let's talk about it.

See This is what happens when people overreact to things that they see on the internet and buy into it. If someone is actually racist they would’ve said something don’t just believe everything you see on social media.
While I agree that Cornette said nothing racist, I do think the artist knew what he was doing with that drawing.

Cornette has a LOT of other things to criticize him for. This isn't really one of them, but it is a bad thumbnail regardless imo.
Cornette doesn't even do thumbnails, and editing, nor does he run the podcast. He's just the voice behind it. He has said it many times on Twitter and the podcast.
People in mainly America are too quick to pull the race card, sometimes its a necessary thing and is very much needed, but most the time it is just to try and get someone that they do not like, which makes every other instance in which we try to call someone out for "racist behavior" look like nothing. Save the racist callouts for actual moments of racism.

I say it is and it shows the hate and out of touch nature of Cornette
After the NWA fiasco, I would think Jim Corndog would be more conscious of his public image. He's made that mighty joe young reference before, never included a gorilla in the thumbnail until it was Swerve. Even if he's not physically creating the artwork, it's his channel, he ok'd it.
There's been all sorts of shit in the thumbnails, and they're usually taking the piss out of Cornette. In this case, the gorilla is obviously a caricature of Jim. How is that racist?

Honestly if I was Cornette I would've also included Chris Jericho in that video cause I also said that even Chris Jericho got a segment where he celebrated winning a title that no offense to Tazz but isn't really sanctioned/an official AEW belt and technically the least important/relevant belt in this company.
CONTEXT MATTERS, I enjoy listening to Jim and his podcast partner. This thumbnail was entertaining to see, I understand exactly what he meant by what he was saying. In fact, Jim is big upping Swerve why would he be going against him? 😂 People run with, anything because they don't like him.

When you're trying to explain why swerve deserves better than this, and people still can't stop with the baiting. If you're the type of person than only cares about optics, then maybe it does look weird, but Jim content is audio, it's about your ears and Jim is actually insulted and appalled on swerves behalf. Jim saying even mighty Joe young or Cheetah shouldn't have gone 15mins with swerve. It's so obvious. Swerve is over, so keep him over by beating underneath guys in 4-6mins with no difficulties. That's what Jim's saying. It shows how well AEW fans are trained, the idea of a non-competitive squash if so anathema, they see it as racist. I know that's an over simplification, but you get the point.
