Howdy everyone! As always, here is a comment explaining a BTS learning I had in making this video. This is the longest project I've made to date but somehow... one of the fastest to edit. Before we even started filming, Ken and I really wanted to make sure we stuck a story close to the Hero's Journey (Harmon Circle). If you look closely, a lot of the bits and elements we created were based on that (ex. character in comfortable location, a call to adventure, a refusal to that adventure, a mentor, crossing the threshold, etc.). of course, the story takes a turn as most do, but having this structure made the edit a lot simpler.
Thought I would share, let me know what you all think of this story! Really want to own our corner of the internet with these mini-movies. 'Till next time!

Great story! Your storytelling is getting better and better with each video and that's awesome to see. Question: how did you leverage following a structure to edit faster, were you able to split the video into parts and work on them separately with a clearer sense of the bigger picture/feeling? Or was editing speed the result of having a better idea of the story you wanted to tell? Or both! Curious to learn more as I sit to edit my first video!!!

    • @avaliausd.
      @avaliausd. 9 місяців тому +30

Well, I mean, what do people expect? If you dont want to pursue someone on a dating app, the easy way out is to ghost. Who wouldnt take the easy way out? Especially if there is a chance that the person who you are talking to might go crazy on you if you tell them that you arent interested. (Weve seen plenty of examples of that online.) This is why its better to just date people who are in your circle, not random strangers. Go to church or a social club. I met my wife at my church. Heck, a few of my exes are from my church. I prefer women who go to the same church as me because we already have something very important in common and that's our spiritual beliefs. Its so much easier to find a mate this way than expecting completely strangers to treat you like a friend.

Lol well that doesn't really help that much if literally 100% of the women you've met in the past 15 years were already in relationships. It's great advice for someone who is young, but sadly virtually all of the "good ones" get snatched up in their early-to-mid twenties. After that you're either picking up the scraps that have been rejected by everyone their whole life or you have to hope for someone's partner to die or get divorced, which is obviously an awful thing to hope for. Surely doesn't help that modern society treats finding "the one" as being clingy or some kind of disease, when it's really what everyone throughout history should have done. Instead everyone is just settling, and the divorce numbers show it.

As a 20 yr old woman, I’ve tried dating apps a couple of times. I hate the idea of limiting someone down to a profile that doesn’t fully capture their personality. You can feel out who a person truly is and if you have chemistry when meeting in person. When I have liked someone, it wasn’t because of an immediate physical attraction. It was how comfortable I felt around them and the way they interacted with me that drew me to them. I felt a connection with a guy I work with and asked him out. He told me I was sweet but doesn’t date coworkers. Even at the risk of rejection, go for it! It could be the best decision of your life!

    • @fuzzypanda1684

Love your energy, but it's entirely different for men vs women. As a woman, you have lots of options, especially if you take care of yourself and are decent looking. You can ask out co-workers, guys at the gym, or guys in the grocery store and the worst that will happen is he'll say no. But even if that happens, you'll face no negative consequences and still have lots of new matches and messages waiting for you in your dating apps.
But for guys...we get very few matches and even fewer replies in dating apps, that's why so many men break and start paying for the upgraded plans. And as a man, every time you look at, show interest in, or talk to a girl, you run the very real chance of her reporting you to management or at least spreading the word to other girls. If you manage to evade being pulled into HR or the managers office to be told that you were reported for "making girls uncomfortable", you'll likely start getting ignored and avoided by people in her circle, and girls have surprisingly large circles.
Again, I love your energy and you seem really sweet, but please understand that it's a completely different game for us men, and rejection is the the least of our concerns when approaching a woman.

Nice to hear that you try to look behind the pictures! =D how did you manage online dating? From what i heard is that woman get so many matches they don't even get to really connect with someone online, respectivly they automatically sort people out based on looks/photo. That must have been a lot of work right?
I have to agree with the other two comment, onlie-dating is a very different game for men and woman, i stopped because it's frustrating and messes with your confidence until you hate yourself, once you realize it's not because of you it's usually too late.

The moral of the story is that dating apps incentives it to keep users using their app and convert them into subscribers. Thus, one must delete those apps and meet and interact with the real world to meet others is still the best way. I wiped everything from the dating app and I talk to people in real life which is far better results than an app.

@@goodness_graciousme you waited far too long for a marriage to occur. You always to think what men wants? Most men want young and fertile women and being 35 doesn’t help your case much. You will face a far tough time getting a man to commit and settle down with you unfortunately since so much of your time was wasted. Also, ask yourself this what skills you have that would benefit the men your trying to get? Since you’re youth is no longer something you offer and also can you safely produce healthy children? Do you know how to care for children, clean, and cook? If you have those skills and a pleasant person you might find someone. Stop looking at guys for looks because you’re past the time of choosing best men and now you will have to compromise a lot and bring a lot to the table for you to find someone. Everything aside good luck with your path.

That works if luck is on your side and you're someone who thinks that "90% of success is just showing up!". But for some of us, we can go out consistently to events, meetups, parties etc., yet despite having fun, get no interest from girls. I spent 3 years living in SF and went out 3-4 nights a week, but not once did I meet anyone, get a date, or a girlfriend.
And going out with friends can be very risky. If you meet girls who don't like you, they can start talking and pretty soon your friends are avoiding you because you're that guy that girls don't like.
Again, for some guys, just showing up gets them numbers, dates, laid and girlfriends. For other guys, showing up actually makes things worse because you get ostracized from your friend group and actually hurt your reputation.

Dating apps can absolutely lead to depression in men. As a man who spent years on apps, while simultaneously worked to improve myself by hitting the gym, eating clean, taking care of my skin, as well as working on my confidence and charisma, it's been pretty devastating to do so consistently poorly on dating apps.
But where his and my experiences split is in the last part of the video. He went out to an event, met a girl, hit it off and started dating. That has never happened for me, and I spent many years going out to all kinds of events, from improv classes and movie nights, to language exchanges and cultural exhibitions, to wine tasting and bar crawls. While I had fun at all of them, I never met anyone, certainly not on the first one I went to like he did.
But that's the difference luck makes. One person can go out and immediately get results. Meanwhile another person can leave the same event and say: "well, that's the 136th unsuccessful event in a row, but I've got a good feeling about the next one!"

I feel you, brother. You've done the work, you deserve some results. Two things:
      1) Luck can definitely be the factor that tips the scale, but as@sabrinusglaucomys said, you gotta pre condition your environment to "create the highest chance" of luck.
      2) At the chance you haven't done so yet, gather your female & male friends, ask them to give you one last sanity check: is there anything about you, smth you do, or smth in your environment that's still prohibiting / limiting you from successfully connecting?
Hope this can make the difference.

It was more just to meet more people and possibly make friends. I haven’t been able to keep a single one of them, and the reason I think for this is because there just is no personal connection. There is something very raw and fun and just colorful about meeting a new person who you have things in common with in person. Because online we have no obligation to continue a conversation or even start one, we feel much more disconnected from them. Humans need a personal connection, and it’s hard to find something like that if it’s not in person.

This video was so cute 🥰 I been on the apps on and off for 6 months now, I get plenty of matches but can’t seem to find someone on the same page as me, reached a point where I’m noticing people use them as validation and for “fun”
committing to deleting them forever now and just enjoying my time single and hoping to find a connection organically 🙂

I’m glad you deleted the apps, you’re a very attractive lady do is no surprise you get plenty of matches, unfortunately men don’t get matches at all, so imagine how that affects your psyche. Ladies only swipe on chads and not on good average men.

Absolutely phenomenal man! I had a dating app experience recently that left me feeling pretty bummed out about myself so to be honest I felt a slight uneasiness watching this video. However that made the ending so much better when you came to a similar conclusion I did, to delete the apps and look in real life! When creators make videos with an amazing story in mind, that connection with the audience is so much more powerful than videos that only focus on optimizing views. I really hope UA-cam continues in this direction and I'm gonna go ahead and say it, this is one of my favorite channels on UA-cam.

Hey Tejas, the effort you're putting in really shows. he way you cut out and print those graphs, then share them in your videos? That's just awesome. It adds such a unique touch that you don't see everywhere. And your storytelling? Top-notch. Keep doing what you're doing, man.
Your shots are definitely cool and seem to be pulling in the views. But for me, it's the longer videos that really stand out. You pack so much solid content into them. Like this dating video - it's been a topic of conversation between me and my colleague. We were talking about how dating apps are all about making money, but your video was coming to the same thing for us.
I really appreciate these videos. Keep them coming. It might not seem like it's all about the money in the short term, but I believe these long-form videos could really help draw in more subscribers. You're onto something special!

Your able to see past just a couple of pictures and captions.

I've noticed a huge issue with NYC and dating is that a large majority of people you meet are extremely new to the city. They romanticize the concept of finding love in the city and want their life to be like it is in the movies.
My biggest piece of advice to any young person trying to date in NYC, tread lightly and don't take it serious. Have zero expectations and you won't get hurt, because honestly I've lost all expectations and it's helped. Currently been talking to a girl for almost 2 months and I STILL expect to be ghosted or told that "Im not ready for a relationship".

Never went on dating apps. Spent a lot of years single but never looked for a relationship. Met my soul mate & the man of my dreams at the gym. Somewhere I go almost every day. & I couldn’t be happier. Spending time at a place with people that have the same interests as you or getting into some kind of hobby where you spend most of your time…. Even getting out to just be around people CAN help you meet someone organically. People need to spend more time off their phones & out enjoying life. Loved the wholesome plot twist at the end.

    26:31 "if you get invited.."
I think this is a factor in people saying "I found love while I wasn't looking".
The being invited is crucial. If you had gone alone, knowing nothing about upwork fashion, people might have some walls up. You'll have to show a genuine interest in the subject or people might wonder why you are there.
When invited, why you are there is obvious.
