Bless you Fr. Boniface Hicks...Today December 5, 2023 is my anniversary. December 5, 1969 Jesus, sovereignly baptised me with his Holy Spirit. This was totally unexpected and transformational. Thank you for posting this Charismatic Prayer two years ago. Thank you for sharing the scripture about seeking the gift of tongues and the gift of prophecy to help us love God more and better deeper than our thoughts or feelings or words.

Catholic Charismatic movement isn't the same like back in the 1970's ...very sad. Their leaders were overly anxious to placate the RCC hierarchy. Instead of demanding BIBLE REVIVAL and a thorough reformation of the RCC, the Charismatic Renewal became sidelined. How could the Catholic Charismatic Renewal accept the strange statements that have been issued by the Vatican? Now even traditional RC priests are being silenced. Very sad. I cannot condone the LQBTXYZ agenda being supported by a number of RC priests and Cardinals nor accept the abominable Panchamma idol Incan worship that took place at the Vatican Amazon Synod October2019.

Fr Boniface, so well taught. Never heard it explained any better. Listening to you draws me back to my core and base. Always a renewal listening to you. Reminds me of those days living in the Juniorate with you and other brothers and having Charismatic prayer meetings in the Catocombs at St Vincent's. God bless you

Brings back great memories of Brother ‘Panky' [Pancratius Boudreau], the founder of the Catholic Charismatics renewal in Philly. Msgr. Walsh had many stories about him, one among them: “Brother Panky calls it (prayer tongues) Noisy Contemplation.”

I was in the Redemptorist seminary college back in the mid 1970's. Bro.Panky was a Redemptorist brother. During my first three years in their seminary college including my year in novitiate in Wisconsin...ST ALPHONSUS COLLEGE SUFFIELD CT... I couldn't go to a Charismatic prayer meeting.! I felt like 'an adopted child".....so in winter of 1977, I decided to get rides to an Assembly of God church in Springfield MA. I did this secretly! Prior to my entrance to Redemptorist seminary, I was actively involved in the Pentecostal movement...vocational director of the Redemptorist Fathers knew that very well...but when I arrived at their seminary, they must have deemed me "Protestant" "Pentecostal"....so in 1979, I embarked on outdoor evangelistic preaching.

@@michaelciccone2194 I was just ten years old. Before my birthday Mother, as a gift I begged for, bought me a beautiful daily missal. In there I found the Sequence of the Holy Spirit written by Saint Thomas. I fell in love with that prayer and said it every day. After sixty-three years it is still in my daily prayer.
Pentecost came, just a few weeks after my birthday. We came home from Holy Mass Pentecost morning, my heart filled with an inexpressible desire to praise God. My younger Sister had already vacated the bedroom so I was "alone". I felt my soul yearning to sing, so I did. To my surprise I was singing in a totally different language. I knew it wasn't Spanish, because sometimes my Brothers would tune into a Spanish channel on the radio just for fun. I knew in my being that this was a language for Jesus and me alone. I don't know how I knew this, but it was a deep conviction. I didn't know about "charismatics". I don't know if I ever heard about "tongues" as the readings at that time were all in Latin. But the Holy Spirit decided to overwhelm me with His gift. I'm so glad He did! His joy is beyond description!

Hello Fr. Boniface I got a question when you pray in tongues do you understand what you are singing out because some charismatic Catholic keep arguing with me that they dont need to understand

    • @donnahalsted7718
      @donnahalsted7718 7 місяців тому

We really DONT know how to pray. So the Holy Spirit prays through us in groaning we don't understand.
I experienced this the moments before my Dad died. I had always prayed I would be with him at his death. At that moment I was at a Charismatic Confrence! I suddenly began to pray in tongues, I didn't know "for what", but I knew The H.S. needed my prayer in union with His, so I gave it full compliance for a half hour. Over, I looked at the time. It was 7:20 AM.
As I was walking through the hallway an hour or so later I heard an audible voice. "Your Father is dead." Then I knew for whom I had been praying. God removed all knowledge so that I could pray purely for his soul. I was, in actuality, with my Father at his last moment. I did not "get in the way" with a "selfish" prayer, it was a pure prayer of the Holy Spirit.
A few hours later I was called over the intercom to pick up phone # whatever. My husband had called the convention center to get in contact with me. "Are you sitting down?" Wete his first words. I knew what he was calling for.
"I know, Sweetheart. Dad died this morning."
"How did you know I was going to tell you that?"
"My Angel told me. Does anyone know what time it was?"
"The nurse checked on him at 8:00 and found he had shortly passed."
"It was 7:20. We are hundreds of people here. I will enlist their prayers for him."
Other things like this have happened to me. Sometimes God needs us to partner with Him in prayer, but doesn't tell us for WHAT. We don't need to know. We just need to surrender to that prayer. Sometimes, in His Almighty goodness, He let's us know, after the fact, for what it was we prayed. He's just such an amazing God!
So, no, we don't need to know what our tongues are praying. It's enough that GOD DOES!
Unless...we are at a prayer meeting where God has a message for the group. THEN He will give someone the interpretation of the person's "message in tongues". This is a whole different case, and moreover a manifestation of the variety of His gifts.

Catholic Charismatic Renewal movement is biblical you can find it in the Book of Acts and Mama Mary is the leader of the Pentecost movement since Holy Spirit lives in Her and fun facts Mary didnt need Pentecost since upon Annunciation Mary had already received Holy Spirit and She became the spouse of the Holy Spirit but Mama Mary still decided to be with all the disciples during Pentecost out of Love and Humility for Jesus’ disciples and She received the Holy Spirit the second time. What does running out of words when praying but continuing to make sounds that don't have any meaning have to with the gift of tounges that is the gift of speaking in any language?
It might be a form of prayer but it seems utterly unconnected to the gift of tounges.

Not impressed. I'm not trying to be discouraging I'm just saying that what I heard is almost verbatim when I hear in a lot of Protestant churches that I used to go to.
