Calling anti-abortionists "pro-life" is extremely misleading, and should be stopped. Most women who get abortions are also "pro-life", and want to live, and at the right time, might later want to have children. It's like calling someone who overeats "pro-food", implying that someone who eats correctly is "anti-food". Or calling some women, who decide not to have children at all, "anti-life". Most of the terms used in this debate are seriously flawed in their application, and cause erroneous emotional reactions.

How are they so OK with completely ignoring what most people want. There's the now famous clip (thanks to Amber) of Marjorie Taylor Greene being creepy as all hell saying through a mail slot that AOC needs to come out and talk to the people who pay her salary while she herself is currently being investigated for whether she should be allowed to be on the ballot for not doing what the people who pay her salary want and being a party to a violent insurrection. Every person has the right to govern their own body, including their organs and their contents.
If you needed a liver transplant, you could not take part of another's liver, even if that meant you would pass away as a result.
Nobody has permission to use my body without my consent, same rules apply to a fetus. Even of a person is dead, you still cannot take their organs unless they consented to it while they were alive.
Same thing with a pregnancy. If the woman carrying the fetus doesn't consent to be pregnant anymore, she has the right to govern her body and have the fetus removed. The fetus does not get to continue to use the woman's body once she removes consent.
That's it, that's the argument. This isn't about "babies" or religion or adoption. It all boils down to consent and governing one's own body. The right of the pregnant woman supercedes and fetus contained inside her.

@@dontransue9843 to repeat: do you have any idea how many other freedoms aren't codified in specific terms in the Constitution that would be at risk, after this happens? It wouldn't be pretty. Take travel, for instance. "Show your papers" at every state or even county border, since you don't have the right to travel without reporting it to authorities specifically named in the Constitution. 😄
That could be just the beginning. You aren't specifically allowed to choose where your child(ren) attends school in the Constitution. You aren't specifically allowed to purchase items in privacy that the government might be interested in knowing you own, like alcohol. There's the choice of who you marry that the authorities may not agree with, either. Don't like it? Tough, it's not in the Constitution. 😄
Want those states' rights strengthened so some can outlaw bodily autonomy? That means a state would have the right to control how much ammunition you're allowed to purchase, and forget about crossing state lines with it, as well. It doesn't affect your guns, after all, just the ammo. 😄
You may even need to sign papers to be able to even attempt a pregnancy in a state - and if that state wants to be like states that have draconian abortion bans, they can also make it illegal to cross state lines for an "accidental" pregnancy to be "initiated." Or you may not be allowed to access contraception of any kind, even if married.
You may have certain... bedroom activities curtailed and made illegal, even if you are straight, as many things can be considered "sodomy or other unnatural sexual activity." You may even see blatant bigotry and racism used - legally - to keep people out of living in some areas, going to school at some schools, working in some jobs, or even enjoying recreation in some areas.
Think it's impossible for any of these things to happen? Think again. They are _all_ based on the same _nonspecific_ human rights used to make the original Roe vs Wade decision.

Meemaw and Lindsey are probably my favorite of his impressions, along with Mike Lindell. What a depressing day, though.

alito saying the right to privacy is being overturned and specifically referencing cases that determined sodomy could not be criminalized (which relied on that same right to privacy) shows how serious this is. abortion rights being denied is horrible, but it means they’re on the path to allow more rights being taken away from us too.

Unfortunately it's not going to stop abortions. Just like if they outlaw sodomy it will still occur.

The US once again shows that a- it isn't a democracy and b- lying during the confirmation process to the highest court is okay.

It is amazing to me that the people who are making a decision about abortion are people who couldn’t even point out where their sternum or clavicle is located. This is not a legal issue, or shouldn’t be, it is a medical one or a personal one. We should not be confirming religious zealots to any office in the US.

Exactly, I don't think a person needs to be an attorney or studying law to understand the fundamental issues to issues behind this insanity. The Ro settled precedent has always been held up by the (and built upon) the 14th amendment of the constitution. The wording in the draft as of now, while based on flawed arguments, render Ro unconstitutional through wording meant to take down other rights we have assumed ours. Already, those in these many "religious" groups have stated they will go towards marriage equality next, I am pretty sure birth control will also be on the chopping block. Already a child raped by a uncle or father has no choice. Taking down Ro is a slippery slope which can take up back to making school segregation law and passing laws against interracial marriage.

Exactly! Anyone who cannot separate their religion from their work has absolutely no place in government where separation of church & state is codified into the Constitution.

Well you can’t keep religious people out of governing, but we can keep them honest to the governed. They took an oath to be unbiased, they’d betray their own values if they took the position in the first place.

@@spicysmooth2 Actually we can and should expect this of those making decisions.
If we know the basics of our constitution, decision makers can not are only speak to Christianity or any one religion. the constitution of the country for which they serve, is founded separation of church and state. Religious people In general have the right to believe whatever they like, but those entrusted to the bench anywhere, must leave their religious beliefs at the door where they put on their robe. The avoidance of a legal slippery slope is taught in the first year of any law profession, surely we expect the Supreme Court to govern by the foundations of our evolving laws.
If not, we might as well expect to get back to the point where only white men who owned property are considered legal. Any opinion based on religion may set us back to burning suspected witches.
The courts are there to decide matters of law based on precedent in conjunction with valid legal arguments of as related to such law.
A private religious organization or company has a lot of rights pertaining to religious beliefs. But our government can not (according to our constitution and 250 year system ) decide cases in a multicultural diverse non religious based democracy on any aspect of religion.
So the argument about expectations on those making decisions is entirely invalid.

The Supreme Court should be dissolved. It's members should all be charged with perjury and contempt of congress.
