I had ACL surgery back in 2010 and have had pain throughout the years. During that time, I’ve gone on many runs, played many sports, and even enlisted in the US Army and completed BCT. Recently, I’ve been getting pain and swelling, yet every doctor visit shows it’s an overuse injury and to RICE but not to worry. It’s becoming super annoying and it’s causing fear since I don’t remember constant pain in the past.
Sir I'm 23 years old and i had my acl avulsion surgey in 2021 . Even after 2 years i had pain in my knee. Some time clicking sound. My operated leg is still thinner as compared to other leg and i cant do lunges
So sorry to hear this Tracy! Recovering from a surgery can definitely be tough! We really hope your mom starts to feel better! In the meantime, performing simple exercises to manage swelling may be able to help. Hi, I have acl surgery past 5 months ... I am 17 and I can bend my knees completely.. Can move and can run quite better than before.... I stopped my exercises.... But sometimes in regular day work I feel pain while bending... Or If I run for some time ... I feel like someone is hamaring my knee
I have had 3 acl replacement surgeries. And also meniscus repair. It’s been over 10 years since my last surgery. My knee hurts when I walk when I sit down. I can’t bend it to 90°. I know I have arthritis. I do not want to have a total knee replacement yet I am only 40 years old. What do you suggest I could do to relieve the pain. My tubular is sore to touch also and has a builder. Assuming burgers or something like that. Your voice should be much appreciated.
Very nice Explanation Sir. I had Acl ligament tare in both my legs. Got surgery for left leg. And did exercise for both legs. Left leg is fine after Surgery. But right leg is little bit weak. But can manage to go work.
Thanks Santhosh Aloor! Sorry to hear you're still suffering from weakness in the right leg. You might always have to maintain more strength in both legs to make sure you don't get worse knee pain as you age. That way you can prevent surgery and other bad problems from happening. Best of luck to you!

Sir , I had acl reconstruction with fibertape internal brace 3 weeks ago and about 1 week ago during my pt I think I did something over and since then I cannot extend my leg fully and Cannot walk with complete stability,, also my knee gets locked and non smooth motion while walking.... The pain is very inner and it feels like my leg will go backwards and the main thing is I am feeling like my knee is not aligned correctly after that incident 1 week ago .. I think I have any shift in my bone which is causing all of this ,, just went through your tibial shift video ,, please tell me what to do I am very much scared
Hi doctor. I had an ACL reconstruction on 2018 and it had been 6 years now. It was weak initially and i did rehab and started hitting gym. It got better gradually and eventually i felt okey. However of late i started to play badminton badminton and now i am having pain. I feel like the pain is in my muscles. Beacuse of the pain it is restricting my mobility of the leg. I cannot do complete squat now. Would you why would that be. Thankyou in advance.
Hi doctor. I had a doubt. I feel pain when I'm going down the stairs every time in the front portion of my knee. While going up the stairs I don't feel any pain. I wanted to ask you, is this normal or expected? Does everyone go through this by any chance?? This is my 4th month after the surgery. I had an ACL and lateral+ medial meniscus tear. How can I reduce this pain? Please respond
I’m almost five months out of surgery and the same thing is happening to me. It started out a knee pain behind the knee cap when I started doing single leg squats and now I’m a couple weeks into them and a couple of days ago my knee started getting that same pain getting up from sitting, bending over to grab something and even walking and I’m starting to get concerned. I’ll talk to my PT this upcoming week but I’m getting concerned because I haven’t had knee pain behind my knee cap at all since surgery so I’m getting nervous.
I am also facing the same issue..does it normal or any problem...how is the feeling now bro..are u ok now...can u please share ur ideas and how to recover...
Hello Dr. David! A quick question I have, I got acl reconsuction with meniscus repair about 3 weeks ago. It seems though everyday I wake up I’m having pain in a different area of the knee. But for the past week I’ve been having a lof of pain in the back of the knee on the top lateral and bottom medial part of my knee. It seems that its right around where the acl connects. Is it normal to have pain in the back of my knee? It is kind of like a burning sensation, even when I’m sitting on the couch doing nothing, not just with activity.

Hi sir, can you please do a video explaining the risks of not opting for an ACL reconstruction in obese women.. And under what circumstances we should go for surgery, I recently had an accident in work site and completely tore my right ACL and there was a lots of instability too so I opted for ACL reconstruction to my right knee in February 2022 and leg was fine but again recently I met with another accident and now completely tore my left ACL too but i don't have any instability just a little bit pain due to swelling and bone marrow edema but i could walk pretty fine and i had full knee extension but i couldn't flex my knee beyond 110° and i cannot hyper extend my leg. Doctor told me to wait and see for a month and if there's no instability then u can go without surgery but I'm severely obese and although I don't have involvement in sports and stuff but I'm a pretty active person i love taking long walks and going for hikes so please explain me what are the risks involved for not opting a surgical repair.
Helloo sir... I m Dr virendra .age 23 yr I had undergone ACL reconstruction in 2018.. My recovery was not as expected .. Sir now i have laxaty, knee pain, can't squat, can't run, i don't have confidence on my knee sir..mri was done 2 times after surgery.. One was on last year... & report says everthing is normal... Adequate ligamentisation has occured... Sir please tell me what could be the reason of all these thing... What should i do..
Sorry to hear that you're still having knee pain Dr. Virendra :-( It's likely that you have a muscle imbalance. Those are often present when there is an ACL tear. Sometimes they can contribute to the tear. Usually the quad muscles are too strong and this leads to over-pressure in the knee joint. It may cause a tibial shift too. You've got to strengthen the glutes properly to balance out the quads. This alleviates the pressure in the knee joint. We talk about this throughout the videos in this playlist: “Knee Pain ACL Injury Help” ua-cam.com/play/PLJVIPiFvv1mY5egV7qX8PHh-kEeL6y1wP.html
I tore both ACLs my right was done with a pettla graft that knee still hurts after two years of surgery the graft is strong but the pettla is very painful. My left was done with a quad graft and that one is about 6 months old and hurts way less. I feel like the surgeon took to much of my pettla. That surgeon manipulated me into that surgery. I had another surgeon do my left knee and look at my right and said he sadly can't do anything. This is a very depressing problem for me it took away everything from me. I can't run no more I can't jump, walking hurts. No arthritis yet but I am debating on seeing a university to see what can be done. I am hoping I can get a partial knee replacement in the future since I know arthritis is coming because there is no way I can make it through another knee surgery because the pain was unbearable and my mother had to take all my firearms it was that bad. Also not to mention I can't have general anesthesia because I am to risky.
I got acl reconstruction done 5 weeks ago and i feel pain at the top of my tibia around where the screw is fixed.. I'm not in constant pain but i get it when I'm exercising.. is it normal??
Hi Sonikapuran, it may be that when you are exercising you are doing it with too much intensity. We would recommend scaling back the intensity and increasing it when you start feeling stronger. We'd love to hear how you are doing as you progress.🙌 Please take care!
