Anytime I get to watch someone experience LP and fully appreciate just how incredible she is. She does write all the songs on her albums ( with the dream team Mike DelRio and Nate Campany; and Mike produces this and every subsequent album) but she does a handful of covers that are just phenomenal ( Halo- a must see, In The Pines, The Widow, Something, It’s Over).

So glad you rounded back to LP! Gotta echo the others, the live version of this is so fantastic. Even though this version is quite powerful in its own way, the live version just blasts it out of the water - no pun intended.

I saw LP in concerts last year in Wyoming of all places. I rarely go to concerts. She's a great performer. -The Music Fan Man

LP is gloriously kickass. One of the best (killer) singer/songwriters to come along in quite some time; someone in full possession of ability to get to a spectacular place very quickly. A true phenomenon. I don't say that lightly.

When We're High is another favorite of mine but it is a little more "pop/dance". Which is a great thing about her, she doesn't fit into a particular niche of music.

I also wish you reacted to her live. More concentration on her and her voice.

You’re analysis …. Is the best I have ever watched.
I grew up a kid of the music industry huge names , I’m not saying that for personal, but just to let you know I have heard a lot of shtts talk a lot of shttt about what they know about what they’re hearin…
I grew up a child living in House with a major major global music scene. I can’t tell you how much I’ve heard. … people always try and reinvent their interpretations and you I’m gonna turn that year. Interpretations are reinvented. Thank you for speaking truth…

I’m still here. This is one of my favorite songs. I’ll have to echo Silva, I think the live version is better. Honestly Geebz, I don’t think I would have listened to LP if it wasn’t for your first reaction. 😀

The reason this type of music sounds familiar is because it is done in the fashion of a prison work song. It’s something we’ve all heard in movies all our lives and there’s no better demonstration of it than in this song by
James Carter (December 18, 1925 - November 26, 2003) was an American singer. He was born a Mississippi sharecropper and as a young man was several times an inmate of the Mississippi prison system. He was paid $20,000, and credited, for a four-decade-old lead-vocalist performance in a prison work song used in the 2000 film O Brother, Where Art Thou?

I know this is an old video, but I thought you might be interested to know that the "boom" sound effect was actually created with chains that LP and producer Mike Del Rio found in the extremely low-tech studio they recorded this album in. Just good old-fashioned clinkin chains.

A Thai airline flight to Taiwan made me hooked on LP through their in-flight system. I had not heard about her before, but then I realized she is a fantastic singer/song writer I need to explore. This song is an absolute favorite but together with Other People, Thigh Rope was the songs that made it for me since it some how related much to me...I think it is on the same album.

It's interesting to hear your takes, and maybe find points to enlarge my taste of music, but the ones I dig have been already in my list.
Still the surprise was that I found you through Dimash and my mother.
Then about game soundtracks, I like to reserve game soundtracks for the game to present them, but if it really hooks me in few seconds then I might just get the game for the music. Well the game or some trailers can do the service of presenting the music.

If you like this, you would have to listen to Bishop Briggs - River.
    That's powerful.
