Family means so much to both of them, but in order for them to pursue their music careers, they would have to leave them a lot and travel and do all these other things. They were torn apart choosing to pursue their music careers or take care of their families
I love the line, "when your father turns to stone, will you take care of me"... I love the thought that the husband is taking care of his family but when he's turned to "stone" (tombstone) she hopes her son can take care of her.

Tyler replies "I will make you queen of everything you see, I'll put you on the map, I'll cure you of disease". So it's about Tyler telling his Mum that when his Dad passes, he will take look after her and take care of everything she needs. It's a very sweet song.

I saw a comment on the music video for this that I liked they said their theory on the video was the son died and this is him as a ghost standing outside his moms house singing about how he’ll protect her, and we all know how Tyler feels about night time, so like you said in the video seems like they can only be up during the day and at night they become paralyzed
