Thank you for making this video, I’ve struggled with zips in the past using the evil Simplicity instructions and watching this was soo much clearer and my zip actually looks good!!
Pulling my hair out struggling with a zip - and then I found this tutorial! I can’t wait til the morning when I can try putting in my zip again 😂 thanks!
I've been wanting to install a zipper in a lined dress but just couldn't figure out how to do without any mishaps. Your video is super helpful. Will update when I finish the garment. Thank you so very much! Update: Zipper successfully installed! Many thanks!
I just finished installing a zipper in a lined dress for the first time. Boy I wish I had seen this first. The pattern wasn't any help. So I hand basted one side to the dress. Then decided that wouldn't work, took it out, then pinned again, then machine basted, just the dress. So then hand basted the lining, then sewed it all again. What a mess. I don't like the way it looks, but by now, just don't care. Wow! This video just showed how much work I ddnt need to do....lol. This was just a practice dress for my granddaughter. Making her a party dress and didn't want to mess up the good fabric. Thanks bunches
THis is great, but you don't say what you do with the zip at the base of the zip? DO you sew across the bottom, I had a go but the bottom looked a little messy.... Many thanks
You make this look so easy! Feeling confident to try! I am working on a beauty and the beast ballgown for my 3 year old and it is so damn tricky! I would love to see a tutorial like this with a skirt liner option :)
Thank you for this tutorial! I have one question. After you finish sewing on the zip, do you then sew the lining to the rest of the dress, or do you leave that open?
The dress in the video was only bodice lined. The bottom half of the dress was not, but I think if you were lining the entire dress, then yes you would sew the lining to the rest of the dress after you finish the zip.
I am so grateful to you both for making these wonderful tutorial videos. As a newbie sewer i find them really useful. I am going to attempt the self drafted circle skirt in scuba fabric this weekend. You make it look very easy. x
Yes, never sew over pins! Even if it doesn't break, it shaves off tiny amounts which dulls the needle faster, AND can act as a forceful impact on the machine. Always pull pins out as you go along 😊
Hello Stitch Sisters I need help do you have a video how to sew in a lining on a coat or bag out a lining on a coat I have no idea. Hope to hear from you soon happy sewing ladies 😊

Anita Edgecombe oh that's wonderful. Let us know how u get on
thanks for the tutorial..sewing a zip is always a challenge to me.
??? Do you sew across at the bottom of zipper???
Please show us how to make this with a concealed zipper! Thank you!
Thanks, very good tutorial! I've installed lots of zippers, but none in lined garments.
Thank you for showing how to work with the zipper. I am just terrible working with zippers.
It's very unclear what you do at the bottom of the zipper.
You suggest hand basting? Don't mind if I do!
The fabric is gorgeous. What is the dress pattern? Love your tutorials, thank you.
How is it that you didn't break your sewing needle when you sewed over all those pins?
Yes, never sew over pins! Even if it doesn't break, it shaves off tiny amounts which dulls the needle faster, AND can act as a forceful impact on the machine. Always pull pins out as you go along 😊
Right

Ladies,how do you store thread?
That is a zipper foot, right?
Yes it is, try eBay for one
It's a good video, but a lighter fabric and white zipper would've been easier to see.
