    An older, good running chainsaw has something special over a brand new shinny one out the box. Bumps and scratches in some tools really do give them character.

    I can't begin to imagine how many hours of work went into making this video.
    How you managed to get the camera in so close whilst also repairing the saw is nothing less than brilliant.
    You certainly don't do things by halves Tom. Well done.

    • @VintageEngineRepairs
      @VintageEngineRepairs  Рік тому +1

      Thank you! It’s actually just called gasket sheets or oil jointing sheets. I prefer oil jointing sheets honestly.

    5:03 What blue grease/lubricant are you using for seal install?

    • @VintageEngineRepairs
      @VintageEngineRepairs  Рік тому +1

      Hey :) it’s just standard bearing grease! The seals are nitrile so withstand petroleum greases unlike rubber o-rings or rubber seals that require silicone or vegetable based greases / oils.

      I believe that Dirko was from the factory! That’s an original C1Q carb too :) we don’t have ethanol out here so although they may build up varnished fuel, more often than not they’re very clean like this!

    Nice one Tom. That cleaned up very nicely.
    I must say, that looked suspiciously similar to an MS230C I just fixed up for a customer a couple of weeks ago.
    Unfortunitely the 290 is still sitting here, next to his MS391 which has been waiting nearly 5 weeks for a new fuel hose to come in from Stihl🤣🤷‍♂️
