- Every Olympic games has those handful of memorable moments and history-making performances. One of those moments this year in South Korea happened on the ice. And there's someone in our own backyard who knows a thing or two about it.
And before Kimmie's there was Tonya's. BTW, Kimmie never managed to land a succesful 3A in an international competition.
And the one Meissner did at Nationals was under-rotated.
Before Kimmie, there was Midori, Mao, Miki, etc. I love Mirai but y’all gotta stop erasing anyone who isn’t American.
I don’t think they are ignoring Ito, Asada, Ando, and the rest of the other international woman who have landed the jump. It’s an American news piece foucing on an American figure skater of course they are going to make it all about US.

Would have to completely disagree. Midori Ito was the first, best, most athletic, and most consistent. Props to Nagasu, but.. Definitely not the best by any stretch.

Midori Ito's triple axel is definitely the best. check out ladies triple axel compilations on youtube. Midori is always rated #1. Nothing beats Midori's triple axel at Albertville olympics. She did it at 3 minutes and 10 seconds of her long program, unbelievable as Scott Hamilton said doing the commentary on NBC. Midori's albertville triple axel was honored as one of the 30 impossible moments in a compilation of the winter olympic games history.
Nothing beats any of Midori's. The ice coverage alone is almost science fiction. And if you've ever seen her skate live, the speed she took into that jump was a little scary.
Donny Hathaway considering Mirai landed it once you can hardly call it more technically sound. Midori’s was the best. It’s not really debatable.

I'm glad that Kimmie Meissner is training American ice skaters to compete equally with the Russians and Asians with the triple axle and combined it with another triple or if possible, combined with a double axle, but she or he must be committed, comfortable, and well trained like the Russians and the Asians. She or he must have that passion to enjoy competition championships.

Mirai's is a beautiful jump with a much better landing than Harding. Ito's will always be supreme (nobody even comes close for speed, height, reckless abandon, and consistency), but Nagasu's is great combination of elegance, athleticism, and flow. For me, it's the second best.
How can you say her 3as were garbage? The one she landed at nationals wasn't her best at all there is video of her doing ones that are far better.

Steven Valencia - there a videos on you tube called ladies triple axel. watch them. you will see all the women who have completed a triple axel in international competition. 8 in total. Some have ratings. Midori is rated #1. In any rating I have ever seen on the internet on ladies triple axels, Midori is always rated #1.
@@lsrasr158 Well this really is an opinionated issue. There is no objective "best" because everybody has different Criteria. the smallest is probably rika and if you like small Jumps, then here would be the best.

But since the triple axel is probably the most athletic jump in ladies figure skating, the majority of opinions as to who has the best triple axel tend to side with the most athletic one, which is Midori. Hers is the fastest, highest, most reckless, covers the most distance, slowest rotation of any of the others. Midori's are the most breath taking. The triple axel Midori landed at the Albertville olympics was at the 3 minute 10 second mark of a 4 minute program. Who else could have done that? Scott Hamilton marveled at it as he described the last minute of her Albertville skate. There is a video of Midori warming up before her LP at the lalique tournament. Watch it. She does a triple axel triple toe that will leave you speechless. You are correct, it is opinions. But most come to the opinion that Midori's are the best.
