Why mental health should be any different from physical health is beyond me. We need to normalise caring for our mental health. Take care, Aaliyah, and take the space you need!

I started getting panic attacks since july 2020. And even my first panic attack happened out of nowhere. Nothing triggered it, it just happened. And since then I've had multiple panic attacks daily for months. To this day, i don't feel normal. I live in a constant fear that i could stop breathing at any moment. My chest feels so tight all the time. And all this for no apparent reason. I get you Aaliyah. I get you. It's super hard.

Isn't it strange that when everyone would say what do you have to be upset about? You are financially okay, your UA-cam is growing and you have an amazing boyfriend etc etc but your mind goes to a dark place. Like you're upset with yourself with being sad and anxious because you know you have no reason but you are also aware that you are not at fault for going through it.

I couldn't properly, I didn't want to talk to anyone, had constant panic and anxiety attacks. It was hard and you're definitely not alone. Medication definitely helps and one more that's super powerful and helped me (still helps me) is doing Guided meditation. You can find hundreds of guided meditation on UA-cam that help to sooth you. Thank you so much for sharing, Aaliyah! It takes courage to be bold and vocal about personal struggles, and I really respect that. Quite often, I’ve felt prayer/meditation or having a kind of spiritual connection has been helpful in getting me through phases where I feel negative, demotivated or losing hold of things in my life. Positive reinforcement though journaling has also been helpful. I really hope you’re able to get through this soon, and come out stronger. Take care and lots of love

I am a 21 year old male. I have been diagnosed with panic disorder recently as well. My issue started in October,2020 when one day I suffered a panic attack out of nowhere. I couldn’t breathe during the episode which left me even more anxious. For the next 4-5 days I had panic attacks everyday. I’d feel really dizzy, fast heart rate etc. I consulted a physician who informed me that I had anxiety but he did not prescribe any medication. Felt alright for month but still felt dizzy but then, one fine day in November I had another severe panic attack. That is when I sought help from a psychiatrist, who diagnosed me with panic disorder. This panic attack left me with a multitude of physical anxiety symptoms. For the next 4 months, I went throught literal hell. Many sleepless nights, constant scary symptoms and felt really really low. I got so anxious about my health that I was sure that I was dying. However, things got better slowly to the point where I don’t have any physical symptoms now. Here’s what all I did: Started learning guitar to distract myself, took weekly therapy sessions, spent a lot of time with my family, exercised regularly, performed breathing exercises and yoga, avoided all sorts of negativity. One thing that is key if you are going through something like this is to always remember that things do change for good no matter what. Thank you so much for this video. I could relate very well with you. Hope you get better soon !

Hey Aaliyah, just know that you have actually blessed people by making this video. Not just by talking about how we are not the only ones facing mental health issues but also the fact that being a celebrity’s kid or living away from home does not mean that one’s life is perfect.
I am sure there are people who concluded that your life is perfect and they are underprivileged.
With this video, you made it clear that no matter what the background of a person is, mental health is equally important and things can trigger anyone at any given moment.
I wish you all the love and warmth. I hope you recover soon and get back to being the bubbly-cheerful you.
I am going through something similar and not having a boyfriend or a sibling to confide in has made things worse for me.
I wish I had a friend like you who could understand and support me in these tough times. Anyhow, I gotta take care of myself.
I hope Shane and Ida help you out through these times and know that you are one of the strongest teens out there. Living away from home isn’t easy and you are doing that. So be proud of the woman you are becoming and keep going.
    Love you, lil one!❤️
I hope we cross paths at some point in time of life!
    You are adorable😘

The truth is the modern lifestyle or western lifestyle or whatever we may want to call it is entirely based on the premise of anxiety, urgency, pressure - to get work done and fast - removing the structure would threaten the basic foundation of everything we seem to be working for and/or are standing on -
the way "mental health" is treated as a side issue in India is a form of gaslighting - deep down everyone knows that's how work gets done - from the student who only studies when the "pressure" of exams is there - to the employee who feels the "pressure to delivery" etc. we can be hard-pressed to drive this point home - because the argument remains that a lot of the amenities and social infrastructure is based upon the "sacrifices" and efforts of earlier generations -
in spite of mental health issues - deep down, people want things to be good overall - but before that, people want to make sure their own sacrifices didn't go in vain, that they are acknowledged ..
a step in the right direction to resolving mental health issues overall in society is gratitude - gratitude to everyone big or small - for their contributions, their struggles, and their sacrifices..

That's completely true. This realisation has made me become a spiritual person from a hardcore atheist. Their needs to be some philosophy which should guide life.

You will be well soon Aaliyah, and talking about this is not easy so kudos for doing it. Neither is panic disorder. There is this book Panic away and Dare - both helpful, just know it's an anxiety response, also if you hyperventilate again, ask your doctor if breathing into a paper bag or onto your cupped palms for few seconds, would help you or not. Most folks on flights esp are given that if they have one. Check with your doctor though first. Tc
