An exquisite piece ! Usually Bloch writes more sumptuously but he is equally great in more restrained and classical music. Thanks for posting !!! This deserves more comments and likes.
This is 'quieter' or at least less overt, than his Concerto Grosso no.1. It is also a very fine piece, as you've said, and I think deserves at least as much listens / performances as the much more popular no. 1.
Is it Bloch or Bach? This work satisfies those who need some of both wrapped in a neat neo-classical package. At least I'm satisfied, much more than I remember being with Howard Hanson's LP years ago, which seemed shrill in sound and impetuous in performance. This one is lovingly articulated and executed, although with perhaps not as fine an ensemble as was the Eastman-Rochester Orchestra. (Is the Concerto Grosso No. 1 with the Amadeus also on YT?)
Musica preziosa che inietta quella pace e concordia di cui abbiamo bisogno, ci può arrivare solo da manifestazioni d'arte.
this is fire
Life is a sweet thing, but always in a delicate balance.Cherish it.
