the one thing they completely glossed over in this video is that there are no remote controls, its all programed into the robot. thats how they can move so fast and precisely.
This was actually extremely entertaining. It takes a lot of skill to design the robots, and the fluidity, speed, and precise movements are just really incredible to watch.
I filmed a robot sumo last december here in philippines for a client and it was really fun watching youngs kids making robots and making them fight. But this one is insane! It's so quick and fast! Im still in awe until now. Never knew it could be as fast and powerful
Random negative comment about America on a video that isn't even tangentially related to the USA? Why am I not surprised? Robot war culture may not be developed in the USA, but robotics R&D certainly is. How many countries have the equivalent of a Boston Dynamics? Not many.
Those robots have fucking razor edges on them by standard design in order to inflict damage on their opponents. Ref needs that shit, he might get his knee chopped open.
When i first saw this i couldn't believe it. Like how fast it moves with 100% traction and precision. And it ends up being programmed to do specific moves. And is getting its traction from the magnets dragging it to the metal arena. I thought it was remote controlled and i was like "theres no way thats remote controlled. Millimetres from the white line there ain't no way a person could be that precise" so im here watching.
If you think about it an average robot sumo match last about 5 seconds but that's against themselves. So if the robots ever start rebelling against us we'll pretty much screwed before we can we blink.
Here in indonesia we called it sumo robot, in 2009 my dad and his students broke new record (we called it rekor muri, just like guinnes but only in indonesia) for the biggest sumo robot competition at that time
This would be such a cool anime. Like there is some guy that makes robots and then does robot sumo against other people. Maybe sorta like Pokemon or something.
Yeah… I agree. I’d say that Bandai Namco Filmworks inc.(what Sunrise[the company that made Gundam] is now called) would be a good studio for an anime around Robot Sumo(which *I WANT TO SEE!* That is so cool of an idea)
Sensors to prevent it from exiting the white line, and vacuum to suck it to the floor. Your winner right there. And, a slap arm. It would be funny to sit on the ground, and launch the other robot flying in confusion out of the ring.
But how do they work? Are they radio controlled or is there a predetermined algorithm? What are the robot requirements? Is there a weight limit? I wish the video was slightly more information dense
Their government is so lucky to have such brains where they can just sit back and observe then steal those ideas and implement them in warfare. Can you imagine a fighter jet with this kind of reflex technology?
You do realize the application for this: Light Fast Cheap Deadly All you need are groups of these bots working together and you have some serious shit.

Ragnarok043 I agree they should have made a clear mention of that critical fact.
1:41 he says after flipping the switch he can only watch... seems pretty clear...
It's always been a pet peeve of mine when people refer to remote control machines as 'robots'.
Some of the footage presented here was also from RC. Up to a certain point, you cannot distinguish between the two.
Bencio
That is when I got confused, up until that point I thought that they where remote controlled
Big hero 6 has come full circle. San Frantokyo here we come
Burned Alive true ahha

This is raw anime material right here.

Soon
Some Guy Kai It's gonna happen if you like it or not.
There’s already an anime about mechanical combat competitions called RoboMasters
The next beyblades.
@SUNRISE MORE ROBOTS
Would love to know more about the actual programming behind, this deserves a full fledged documentary
*teleport behind you*

Nani?
Dakine lmao 🤣🤣
Tbh the fact some dude already programmed it to go behind enemy sumo robot and tackle them out this fast is really impressive

Can u send me your video of filming kids in Philippines playing sumo wrestling???
Damn, fully automated and programmed to move on it’s own
I'm a bit disappointed the robots don't scatter salt on the arena before the bout!
fireaza 😂😂😂😂😂😂
That would be a delight to watch. Flicking salt all over
Nice thought, fireaza! Chiyonofuji, rest in peace, you wonderful man. Hai!
Lol
I thought it's rice?
Meanwhile on American robot wars: flamethrower, chainsaw, hammer, axe, spikes ...
Croz Raven I think robot sumo is pretty popular in all over Asia, or Southeast Asia (where I live) at least.
these are autonomous robots..whereas the american one's are RC devices... huge difference...
American robots are not robots and only few of them are amazing.
Random negative comment about America on a video that isn't even tangentially related to the USA? Why am I not surprised?
Robot war culture may not be developed in the USA, but robotics R&D certainly is. How many countries have the equivalent of a Boston Dynamics? Not many.
It's not random. Obviously.
Love how the referee has on full knee pads

Gonzalo Duarte he's related to Lucio from Overwatch according to the lore.

Man...Where in the world did this channel come from? By far one of the most unique channels i've ever seen since I joined UA-cam...12 years ago
3 years later, the channel has come to an end, yet it shall be within our hearts forever
His passion regarding robotics is really for sure second to none. I like this guy a lot!
The dedication of innovative Jpanese people never ceases to amaze.
I freaking love this channel! Always random, and always interesting.
Way better than the American robot battle
Well there are few amazing american "robot" battles.
Fritz Asuro dude have you seen that documentary, Transformers??
Nah this is like beginners for us
The American and British ones have better robo-gore tho
Except battlebots
Dat is good
2 years for 5 seconds.. must be very important.

This is uber cool. However, the real great big story would be the tech and programming behind this. For real.
Seriously, I can't believe I have seen those robot's motors SMOKE. Like what kinda engineering goes into these little buggers it's INSANE XD

I with you. potentially they could move so fast we could hardly see them. we're in trouble
True true
Yeah im just gonna jump onto my couch and wait till it ran out of battery
someone could just program a computer to have a goal to destroy human kind and run 10000000000000 of simulations ....
I'm afraid for my toes lol.
When your society so advance that your kids playing with homemade advance robot
My Highschool teacher in Indonesia taught me how to make it
Edward Widjaja bodo amat bro, pasti lu orang KRI
Bodo amat kok sempet komen 😂😂
lo pasti cinak
Wisnu Andre Gak harus Chinese, lol.. Nowadays more and more public schools in Jakarta (including mine, SMAN 28 JKT) have a robotic club/organization.
Untuk selevel itu mah hardware nya jg bagusan, musti pake dc motor yg high torque+ high rpm di dimensi sekecil itu.
The match lasts as long as my relationship

Going back to Japan just for this.
And Fuji San ofcourse 🤩
From robot sumo to full gundam duel..... Hopefully
Axel Pingol I saw the match and tbh the robots are still far from gundam..... We need gundam
Finally they made an a video on this ICONIC sport
How are they controlled? Is it already pre-programmed or are there remote controls that I am not seeing?
Basketball programming and use of ir sensors, accelerometers etc all calibrated for one goal.
Basketball they're using program called
"omaewa mo sindaeru"
Muhammad Al-Awwabin NANI?!?!?
You'd have to have inhuman reaction speeds to compete at this level with a remote control lol. It's programmed.

Those little Roombas are tough.
Fast action. Felt an adrenaline rush
They should make the robots salute each other and then return to position at the start of each fight.
I for one, welcome our robot Overlords.
So now a sub 3 minute video is a GREAT BIG STORY, thanks a lot internet
This should be in e-sports or at least a sport which is being recognized in the world
But how do they work? Are they radio controlled or is there a predetermined algorithm? What are the robot requirements? Is there a weight limit? I wish the video was slightly more information dense
2:31 that was satisfying

That was awesome and impressive!
Wow that was quick.
Do they go to the replays often? How else can you tell who fell out first?

Jesus Christ they're fast. Imagine trying to fight one of them with a remote controlled version. . You wouldn't stand a chance.
