Also I found it helpful to order the $35 wiring harness off Amazon rather than make entirely new. It was "almost" right!

Where does the dam exciter wire hook to?

@@soulmedicine to the keyed power side of the ignition switch, so you have 12v+ to it when the key is turned on.

What size diode did you use? I'm getting ready to change my generator to an alternator...getting all the info I can find.

3A - the one I put on in this video actually died a few weeks later. Not sure if it was a defect or undersized, but it started passing current both ways. So I twisted 3 together and put them in the same spot... so far so good. Here are the exact ones I purchased, there may be better ones, I'm not an expert.
