    This was so interesting, I would like if you will do some videos together with your husband, because the dialogue between the both of you talking about your experience with your own birds is invaluable!!

    Hallo Kalyn,
    I really love that your husband participated in your video. It brings a kind of brainstorming vibe, and views from different angles.
    You two are awesome, keep up this great work!

    Hi! I just started watching your channel, I'm so impressed! How many beautiful, blissful birds do you have? You have a beautiful place! You were talking about parrots eating vegetables I always make sure my caique eats veggies, I used to always make chop but I started feeding Ozzy (my only bird) freeze dried veggies, from Cristines Chop Shop" What is your thought on that?

    Great video. My friend has a Cape. He is a sweetie. As far as poop, I live with 5 Caiques. They poop about every 10 to 15 minutes and it’s not pretty. That’s the reason we have tile floors in most of the house. I can read their body language and their eyes to know when they are getting annoyed. Watching your video I think if I were choosing between a Grey or a Cape, the Cape would win.☺️

      @ParrotBliss  3 роки тому

      Yes, our Gray's and Caiques are the biggest poopers! Well, after the Mac'Girls!
      I'd pick a Cape too. Less mess more warm-fuzzy love and affection.

    Hi, My girl is 7 years old, they will draw blood with strangers, and lesson learned, they will byte or kill any other bird with you. Other than that I had to choose, cape or African Grey, I chooses cape, easy to care for and the really gentle giant, she's my girl lol, accept if I change appearance then she sleeps in her cage for that night. Usually she sleeps with me.

    I also can't get my grey (25+ years old) to eat nuts. -.- She was on a diet of pigeon feed (cooked) and black sunflower seeds when I got her, in great condition surprisingly. I've put her on a more varied diet but she just won't touch nuts. The previous owners said she sometimes likes peanuts, but "gets tired of them".
    Nice video though, I just recently started looking at the Cape as a possible addition to my future flock. My Meyer's has traumatized me from the Poicephalus, but the Cape seems like a different bird altogether compared to their smaller cousins.

    How do your greys get along with each other? Do you find that greys get along better with other greys, or, do they get along equally with other species?
    I have a 19yo female CAG and am thinking of adding a second parrot.
    Thanks!

      Hi Guy- My AG’s get along famously with other AGs. When it comes to other species…. I’m sure there are people with AGs who’se buddy is another species of parrot. It’s not easy though. When it comes to putting species together, you have to either have them grow up together or play match-maker in the sense that you need to match their species’ characteristics.
      The Bird Gardens of Naples had a friendly AG a month ago, about 5 years old, I believe. Even if you aren’t in Florida, you can get a parrot by ‘meeting’ Keri (who runs it) and the AG online. If I were looking for a friend for my AG, that’s what I would do :) - Otherwise you need to find a parrot that is as “chill” as an AG. You can’t get a parrot that is too loud (since they aren’t) or that is too mate-bonded (like a Conure or a Cockatoo). LMK what you get, Guy. What’s your AG’s name?

      @@ParrotBliss Thank you so much for the great information. My grey is named Ralphie.
      I’m not sure if I’m up for a second grey. I have air purifiers in my house but I’m concerned that a second grey would be too much dust. My house is modest - a little over 1,000-sq-feet.
      I’d love to adopt a Jardine’s, but they’re hard to find. I’ve thought about one of the Asiatic parakeets. I like the poicephalus species, but they’re so small I worry about safety. I had an old Meyer’s years ago and she was very bird aggressive, which seems typical of the species.

    • @ParrotBliss
      @ParrotBliss  2 роки тому +1

      @@guy8646 Yes, the dander is something to consider. It’s too bad the Meyers doesn’t get along with Ralphie. And yes, Jardines are very hard to find. Unfortunately, Ralphie would like another AG best (most likely). Asiatic parrots… mine don’t go anywhere near the AGs. LMK what you do, not an easy decision.

    What you appear to have is an "unCape" parrot, or Grey headed parrot P.. Called UnCape parrot because the real Cape parrot is P. robustus. Indeed P. robustus is the only one found in the Cape region of Southern Africa and is not in the pet trade. The grey headed parrot is commonly available in the pet trade however.
