Unfamiliar with Super Mario Bros 3? Wait, really? No, just no, I'm not even going to humor posting an uncorrupted version, GTFO.
Using a Python script, Brad takes your favorite 8-bit NES games and scrambles the bytes. These are the results.
Alright, so here's volume 3 of Super Mario Bros. 3. This time I use a 32 byte corruption. Honestly, it didn't produce as awesome corruptions as the others, and was a pain to get good ones, but I think it's alright. So I provided you guys a months worth of awesome popular game corruptions. You fuckers better appreciate it! :)
I'll be reverting back to my usual playlist again, continuing where I left off with Hudson's Adventure Island 2, so look out for that next week.

The best part in this series is definitively the ending: Volume 3, Iteration 10. I think you discovered a beta test level!

#8: the enemies got turned into harmless music note blocks, but they stole the end level piece

Iteration 1 reminds me of the Infinite 1-UP Trick from Super Mario Galaxy 2

I accessed it there, but it was well known way before I published this video. Good catch though, as I thought it was just a standard level in World 6.

Yeah that one had a really fun music corruption.
Inspired by your videos, I went and wrote my own program to do corruption, and have been messing with super mario world and you are right, SNES games don't bug out as reliably. The game is much more likely to crash before it does much interesting. I've even has snes9x lock up a few times.
Fun stuff: that ice level in Iteration 10 isn't actually from world 6! It's an unused level which is mapped to the start tile of world 1, probably a leftover from when they were developing the game (so they could quickly get into the level to test it). Normally you can't enter the level since it's a start tile, but if stuff is messed up and you can enter it, there it is.

#8 looks like possibly a debug mode? All sprites replaced with note blocks. But I think the note block isn't a sprite, and sprites and tiles are handled differently, so for that to happen by accident seems really weird.
#10, is that one of the unused levels? I recall that the start tile, if made enterable, leads to an unused level, but I thought it was a different one.
I seriously doubt it. It's more than likely that I corrupted the object handling code to where it all gets set to a broken note block object.
And yes, that is one of the unused levels...
