Frankly, I don't care what your logo is or what you call your channel, I just love the channel. My wife and I take similar trips, so as much as I enjoyed the solo stuff(I do that also), we both enjoy having Erin in the videos. We have 20 years on you two, so are slowing down a bit and don't do winter trips, so you guys keep us entertained when we cannot be "out there", especially in the winter. THANK YOU, and keep up the good work!
I have watched this episode several times. The editing and shot composition makes one feel as if we are in the story with you. Greatest element of survival... a great travel partner. Thanks again.
The formatting of the videos on the Eyoyo camera is odd so pardon the aspect ratio and glitchy looking edges. The recording quality is low and the camera is extremely difficult to aim (by twisting the wire). However it was a ton of fun to film down there and this is something that I'll work on. FYI, it doesn't record audio...that was added from footage I have of using GoPros underwater.
I LOVE WINTER CAMPING 👍. There is nothing like being at a perfect location with scenery ! Having camp set up 100% and knowing you can enjoy several days/nights with little hard work ahead gives you the precious time to just chill with your lips thinking about the thick sirloin you’re having for dinner ❗️ Potato’s grilled on a fire in a cast iron skillet are MY FAVORITE !! If you’ve planned right you have a rechargeable radio to enjoy you’re fav music ! WISH I WAS THERE ‼️😎
The wind blowing across the lake has got to be cold. My legs ache watching you guys snowshoe through deep snow. I love the solitude and stillness of winter camping. The snow dampens the sounds of life. Nice to see you two living life to it’s fullest. Love you guys!
Dear Erin & Jon, I hope you had a Merry Christmas and wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. I can’t thank you enough for your videos and the joy they bring me. With the past year and all of the negativity associated with it you have made an incredible contribution to my ability to cope with it. I am physically unable to do the things you do and live vicariously through your adventures, I hope you know the happiness you bring to so many of us, keep up the good work, stay healthy and continue to explore. Many thanks!
What a beautiful sight - 'water water every where' snow snow glorious snow. Total peace & serenity. So a truly magnificent sight to behold (@8.07 into video. Gonna sit back & watch you two have fun & share your wonderful surrounds that only Mother Nature will put on display.. thanks 4 sharing & Cheers
The shots with the sun coming through the trees are magnificent. It’s all glorious but there is just something about those that warm my soul. Thank you!
I really enjoy working through your older videos. I cant get enough of your winter camping videos lately and am looking forward to more hot tent videos now that winter is here! Keep them coming!

That was an amazing trip. The scenery was breathtaking. Glad you finally got to your lake.Who cares if the tents a mess, your on vacation. Thanks so much for sharing. It was pretty cool with that underwater camera😘
Another great addition to your adventures! One of the things I appreciate about your videos (and is why I subscribed around 600ish) is because you talk a lot about how being out in nature effects you along with environmental and conservation issues. I get tired of the weather updates and narration of the day to day tasks at camp or tripping. Your videos were/are different! Finally, someone speaking from the heart about what it means to be out in nature! Please don't be offended or upset by this comment. I have thought about not writing it. I feel like this aspect of your adventures is slipping away. I wonder if the pressure of having to publish a video a week (or whatever it is to stay relevant and on top of the UA-cam game) is making it harder to express yourself. Your filmmaking skills are the bomb-diggity! You're content is 100% visually. I can see by the b-roll that you still pay attention to the little things that matter and catch your interest when in the wilderness. This is missing from so many other people's videos. B-roll, b-roll, b-roll! I'm super excited for you and your channel. I just miss your humour and thoughts on your experience while adventuring. This video felt very instructional. But it was great, don't get me wrong... but instructional and a lot of narrating of what you're both doing. It's easier to talk to the camera doing that, I know. Anyway, sorry. Just missing that component of some of your more recent work.
Thank you so much Cobi for putting the time and thought into such a supportive and helpful comment! I really appreciate this feedback so I'm glad you did. I found it really interesting. I think I know exactly why. In earlier videos I was transitioning my career and had some big chunks of time off to trip. I think that allows one to get in a different mental space. Since then, tripping while working full time, getting in what you can, typically doesn't allow for enough time to reach that space. When I take a week+ off I feel like I'm thinking that way again, and I think that comes out in trips like "Leave Behind", Quetico, and the 9-day far north solo, but rarely in the weekend overnighters. But this year might allow for a lot more long trips so that may change soon 😉 Thanks again my friend---value your input!

1st tree wet. Likely not quite dead/drained. Easy fix though. Just turn it all into kindling, & then dry it out by stacking it on an outdoor coal bed - then bring it indoors, (dont dry indoors as moisture will escape into your tent. Yuk). Deadfalls aren't always drained of sap and moisture. No biggy. More than one way to skin a tree. Just a matter of a calm and measured approach. Nice vid. Keep 'em coming.
Ahhh man, five days winter camping, sooo fortunate! Glad you both had a great trip, it surely was a wonderful spot. I couldn't believe myself that it went so fast! I thought, five days can't be up already. Thanks for sharing. :):)
I wanna test out some camp gear & document it, but I need to get out there by two thirty to do anything & then sit around by myself for several hours in the dark before bed. I'm boggled by the arrangements I'm trying to piece together. Lol
Ahhhhhh to be young and healthy again. I would have done so many things different. Kudos and congrats to you both for making the most of the beautiful country/province we live in. Northern Ontario is a truly special place...you showcase it so well! Many thanks...
Scenery looks so similar where I camp (Colorado), I really enjoy your videos guys. You are positive all the time under hard situations and I think that's important. Thank you! 🍃🌲
Nice! The grate works Great!! If I could make a suggestion about the battery and solar panel. The panel generates electricity even in low light, but not as much. But the battery/charge controller won’t work in low temps. If you keep the battery in the tent and the panel outside you might be able to charge in those conditions. Hope this helps!
Chili and garlic toast for the win! Yes, love it for cool weather camping too. That pudgy lil vole was super cute camp visitor. We usually only get to see chipmunks which are equally adorable and fun to watch.
It is definitely true about locally sourced honey being a cure for allergies! My nephew suffered for years with terrible allergies. A few years ago he and his wife became beekeepers as hobby and within a very short time of consuming their honey (a tablespoon every night) he noticed that he wasn’t having the allergic reactions any more. He looked into it and also read the same thing you did about this benefit. Thanks for sharing your story!
Love this video! From taking safety precautions with the carbon monoxide detector & ensuring the ice was thick enough to walk on, to the new gadgets like the Jackary solar system & the G-Stove, to gourmet snow ice cream & German potatoes. Erin is right about the anti-allergenic properties of honey! Did not know snow fleas existed! A little bit of everything with amazing videography!
Thanks Mom!! Hahah the snow fleas can easily be mistaken for dirty snow unless you look carefully. They seem to appear in the millions out of thin air and then disappear the same way
Even dead wood requires some drying time. Wood is basically a sponge, and holds a certain amount of moisture until it has been cut and stacked. Wood does not dry much in the winter, especially up where you are, because the moisture freezes and stays frozen until the thaw. Sorry if I sound like I'm pontificating, but I have been involved with wood and logging for 45 years. Anyhow, too bad you didn't get any fish.

I enjoyed that. Really cool trip. I'm praying for snow so I can get out the snowshoes and sled for a trip like this. I like to camp at the same spots or areas I go to and the trip before becomes the next trips prep. The older I get the more work I do for the old guy coming down river the next time. lol.
I'm pretty used to the outdoors but have never done a winter overnight. When I watch any outdoor channel, I always think no problem but not when I watch lost lakes. I think, I could never do that 🤔😅
I'm going through a curious phase of watching snow camping. It's fascinating to watch. I enjoyed seeing your adventure and discoveries. Forests in winter are beautiful. The sound audio recording is really clear and your shots of the scenery are really excellent. Thank you.
Had some time to watch another episode and met Erin on this adventure, your very lovely and very able companion! Nice to "meet" you Erin! Made great work of that first tree. She is spot on about local bee's honey as it introduces your system to the pollen around the area which gives your body a DNA "fingerprint" of the antigens in your area and allows you to develop DNA specific antibodies with perfect efficacy to the pollen in your area. Love the equipment you guys use, esp. that stove with fan, grill and features! Eyoyo, underwater cam! That is a game changer and takes out the guess work of "wonder what's going on down there" jiggle bait 300x. That lake and icefall was a magnificent hike! I love making natural snow ice cream. As always, mad respect to your respect to nature always in all ways!
Jon your videos are very good & when Erin is in them they are very very very good. Well done both of you your hard work definitely shows 👍🎯🇨🇦. Thanks !
I had to put my sweater on to watch this; it's been cold here the last couple of days: 20 degrees ( like -5 for you Canadians, and the rest of the world, lol). I would never willingly go out in that cold and stay the night, but I appreciate the beauty of you two doing it. Thanks, stay well.
Hahaha there's nothing like the simple pleasure of feeling warm and cozy...even when watching it on TV. P.S. In the spirit of diplomacy, I used the American spelling of cozy 😝
Great looking trip. Erin's battleaxe is boss. Surprising how time seems to fly in the winter but you made the most for sure, glad you made it to your secret lake.
Bravo! Certainly on of my favorite Lost Lakes YT Videos!!! The videography is on point. Erin is such a great partner. One of my favorite videos from LL. Kudos on your culinary skills too. Keep up the the great adventures!!
Awesome video as always guys! I've found that going back to just sleeping under a tarp or in a "cold tent" is somewhat liberating after hot tenting...The amount of time and energy spent processing firewood can be so exhausting (I typically go solo for up to 8 days). It's a real trade-off I find. The hot tent is so nice for those really cold nights but man I find it a ton more work. I also realized after watching this that I need a better saw!
The best part about this video is that the partner is not sitting n standing idle n making the man do all the work like I have seen in couple of camping n bushcraft videos, she is doing equal tasks
The ending shot looked like a heal of a foot. Scenery is amazing. I’m freezing here in Florida and I feel like a wimp watching you in blustery cold, peeing outside, weather and I’m originally from Ohio, I know what cold is. 😊
Once again...perfect...you are setting standards ...and following your work I see them...I was inspired to watch "Leave Behind " once again!...you have arrived where you both are integral to your story...your solo trips inspire me so much..the way Erin compliments them make them more heartfelt..and her own perceptive has become an integral part of the story...a request would be a video on the fundamentals and explanations of the rigorous work involved in making such excellent work...many questions here...not a newbie here but your results are spectacular...in a most natural way...I would love to talk about this ...if not publicly...thank you so much for the work/pleasure you so perfectly relate!...and is that not what you do each time you present us with these glimpses of your lives?...thank you both...from the bottom of my wild heart!
Also..... learn to play with your stove. Do it in the summer. Dampers are your friend. Use bbq thermometers and find what dual/damper settings provide hot and fast versus long and low. Chilly-Cheers!
Always great stuff ! ** run some 3/4" PVC pipe over your sleigh's tow ropes , easier to control going down hill , no more heel bumps or side stepping :) I think that the Sculpin was a Log Perch , cool footage Man ! :)
Great trip and thanks for sharing ! Yes, you did carry in a lot of electronics 🤣 For solar recharge of you power bank, I believe it would help if you kept the power bank inside the hot tent when charging and run the line to the solar cells, you would get better results. Honey ( natural and unadulterated) is sooooooo good for you 🍯 🐝👍 Loved the little vole who was visiting with you 😊
Other tubers should take an example of your relaxed, natural narration. Most others blabber incessantly at about 1000 miles an hour never once coming up for air. Very few realize how effective is silence. You guys are far superior in your style.
Finally, a trip where you don't catch lot's of big pike and/or lake trout! I was beginning to think you are The Fish Whisperer. But then again, you do talk to the fish after you catch them, so maybe you are.🙄 Nice video. Fun to watch sitting in my nice warm home.

Jon your videos are very good & when Erin is in them they are very very very good. Well done both of you your hard work definitely shows 👍🎯🇨🇦. Thanks !
Thanks a lot Dave! I definitely prefer when Erin's there too, in person and for making vids :)

Yes , I agree, I like her humor and personality. I would love to see more interaction , more film time with her. She’s great too. Peace and joy 😊
What an epic adventure! Wow! Beautiful forest and lakes. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thanks again Cliff!!
Oh my! That toasted croissant with eggs looked amazing!
🤣
Great looking trip. Erin's battleaxe is boss. Surprising how time seems to fly in the winter but you made the most for sure, glad you made it to your secret lake.
Thanks Darren! Damn short days. So glad to have that lake checked off
Absolutely monumental.
Look at that SNOW!
Wishing we had more in VT. Another great trip
Thank Gulgonful! Been a super mild winter so far but usually we all get our dues
Bravo! Certainly on of my favorite Lost Lakes YT Videos!!! The videography is on point. Erin is such a great partner. One of my favorite videos from LL. Kudos on your culinary skills too. Keep up the the great adventures!!
Thanks a lot Michael!!
It's so wonderful, beautiful nature and everything beautiful you've created.
Thank you! 💚
Looked like lots of fun. Thank you for the great entertainment.
Thanks as always for joining Rhonda!!
Love the drone footage. Your testing of products is informative.
Great video, looks like you two had a blast!👍 Stay warm out there!🔥🔥
Awesome job, no problem then life partner with you,
No freeze, no warm,😎
Awesome video as always guys! I've found that going back to just sleeping under a tarp or in a "cold tent" is somewhat liberating after hot tenting...The amount of time and energy spent processing firewood can be so exhausting (I typically go solo for up to 8 days). It's a real trade-off I find. The hot tent is so nice for those really cold nights but man I find it a ton more work. I also realized after watching this that I need a better saw!
Thanks so much Steve & Andrea!! So true...liberating is a great word for it. Soo much work, especially if you're only out for one night
Thanks BL! Hahah gotta love the simple pleasure of staying warm
you guys have total respect for each other , priceless
💕💕
Thank you so much Paul!!! 💚 I like the idea of a "behind the scenes" video--added it to my to-do list!

Secret try pounding on the ice to attract fish. It works in a boat
This was so nice to see.. when two are equally yoked, it is a wonderful thing❤️
Also..... learn to play with your stove. Do it in the summer. Dampers are your friend. Use bbq thermometers and find what dual/damper settings provide hot and fast versus long and low. Chilly-Cheers!
Thanks again Brian! Wanted to get some magnetic thermometers but then realized they won't stick because it's stainless steel
Always great stuff !
** run some 3/4" PVC pipe over your sleigh's tow ropes , easier to control going down hill , no more heel bumps or side stepping :)
I think that the Sculpin was a Log Perch , cool footage Man ! :)
Thanks SturgeonF!! Always wondered about the pipes...gotta try that. Great ID, I think you're right!
Your lady is very productive and funny. Cool video.
Great trip and thanks for sharing ! Yes, you did carry in a lot of electronics 🤣 For solar recharge of you power bank, I believe it would help if you kept the power bank inside the hot tent when charging and run the line to the solar cells, you would get better results. Honey ( natural and unadulterated) is sooooooo good for you 🍯 🐝👍 Loved the little vole who was visiting with you 😊
Thanks Hamish!! Great idea, problem was the tent was in the woods so there was even less sunlight. Otherwise that would be really cool
Other tubers should take an example of your relaxed, natural narration. Most others blabber incessantly at about 1000 miles an hour never once coming up for air. Very few realize how effective is silence. You guys are far superior in your style.
Very much appreciated David! :)
Don't even have to watch, quick thumbs up!
Thanks Ken!!!
Your call on burning with dry wood sounds correct to me! Wet wood in a small fire box could be difficult!
Cribbage! My favorite card game. Nice trip.
It's a good one!
So beautiful; thanks so much for sharing the wilderness with us.
Keren, Terima kasih sudah sharing. Kami seperti merasakan sensasi berkemah ditengah salju yang kalian lakukan! 🇮🇩
Another great video and the smokies looked very tasty,

Awesome filming as per usual. Happy new year. Yes...snow works very well...Like a frozen "wipes". Stay fresh my friends😀
😜😜 Thanks Paul!
Another excellent video to watch. I am looking forward to seeing more on your experiences with the G stove as they winter continues.
Thanks a bunch NE!
Finally, a trip where you don't catch lot's of big pike and/or lake trout! I was beginning to think you are The Fish Whisperer. But then again, you do talk to the fish after you catch them, so maybe you are.🙄 Nice video. Fun to watch sitting in my nice warm home.
Hahaha thanks LW! Love the feeling of being warm and cozy :)
