Very well done cover, great composition, great musicians. A shame it took me two years until I noticed the one video of Charles I didn't watch where he posted the link about this :D I'd like to say something about the mix and overall sound, but I listened on class B headphones, so I have to reevaluate. Anyways, my thought was it sounds really Pop, Radio edit-like. Maybe you wanted to let it sound that way, but that's something that makes me a little tired of listening to. But as I said, maybe I change my mind when using better monitors.

@@jdrichmusic I'm of the opinion that to be a great mixer you need to have a clear understanding of what the music SHOULD sound like. More often than not mixing engineers focus too much on the technical part of the mix - where everything sits, what frequencies are used, how "punchy" that kick drum sounds, etc - and they forget about the song. What vibe is it supposed to give? What needs to shine at X point? What do you want the people to hear? Those are the questions that really matter. And therefore, someone that is familiar with the song and knows what it's all about (like the songwriter, the arranger or the band members) have a different view and a more correct one in my opinion. You did a great job not only technically but also musically - the song gives a great vibe because at every point in time what needs to be heard is there! Cheers. :)
If possible, could you do a cover of ‘Tell Me Something Good’ by Chaka Khan & Rufus? Same instrumentation and with whatever arrangement you think up. No one ever seems to remember that hit song except me. I guess it’s because I’m old. LOL I’m really digging this song more and more and have even downloaded it so I can listen anytime. I’ve also subscribed to this channel and I’ll be looking forward to listening to your catalog and hope for more new originals or covers. Truly an assembly of kick ass musicians. As a lifelong musician, I’m always thrilled when I hear something done superbly and with such an awesome funk style groove. Back in the 1970s, I was the weirdest kid in HS because I loved Zeppelin, Rush, Kansas, and Aerosmith as much as Earth, Wind, & Fire, Funkadelics, Dixie Dregs, and Chicago. I’m shutting up now as I’m sure I’ve typed too much in my few posts, but this is what happens when kick musicians perform and kick song with an excellent arrangement.

All very talented people and that young lady with the big voice is also quite beautiful. And with all respect to everyone who collaborated to make this such a very excellent song. Charles really adds quite a bit of exception spark, yet not overpowering anyone else. My only tiny critique point. I would have liked it more if the drums matched the bass solo instead of just the bass as this such a total group song. Added bit just in case... I first thought it was the same young woman doing all the vocals, but upon three subsequent viewings, it seems the massive backing vocals is done by another beautiful young lady. I’m still not 100% sure, but I wanted to be certain I didn’t leave anyone out from such an excellent collaborative effort. One additional tiny other thing if I were producing/mixing would have done is brought up the drums a bit more. I listened to the song on two different studio monitors and my very true and flat EQ AKG headphones and it’s something I would have done.
