Rare to find decent audiobooks of Plato’s _Dialogues._ This was well done. Thank you. _Addendum:_ Also, listening to this a second time, I realized that I have often thought that the best readers of audiobooks are those who, at least in part, have a good understanding of the work they are reading. A perfect example of this, I thought, would be the actor, Barnaby Edward’s audiobook reading of Nietzsche’s _Twilight of Idols_ and _The Antichrist;_ both stunning readings that I have listened to innumerable times just for the pure pleasure of them. But here’s the point: while I attributed such excellent reading, in part, to Edward’s training as a Shakespearean actor, I attributed the bulk of the performance’s excellence to what I assumed was Edwards high level of appreciation for and understanding of the works of Nietzsche. But here I am now listening to an audiobook in which I find myself (in a way) being challenged by Socrates regarding my belief; as he suggests here, at least in part, I think, that maybe much of Ion’s success has to do with training, practice and preparation - not understanding or inspiration. And now I find myself musing over this as I continue to listen. As GenZ would say, > poof < mind blown : )
Jowett has the best summaries and analyses and, if you don’t know Greek, translations. Plato is incomplete in English without him. The reader clearly doesn’t know the material or pronunciations but thanks for reading it!
