I vote for an awl. It is for poking holes in leather, it would be extremely effective. If you get stopped, simply say you are going to add a hole to a friend's belt later, he lost weight, and he's really cheap.

Here in the UK carrying anything for 'defence' is illegal. If you carried a banana for protection and you said that when interviewed by police you would be classed as 'going equipped' and may face prosecution. Theres 2 options, ignore the rules or carry a baseball bat shaped steering wheel lock etc and NEVER say its for self defense when questioned. Yes, its ridiculous. Criminals carry all sorts of things, but a good citizen is expected to just wander around vulnerable and without defence and leave it to our brilliant emergency services to deal with any threats we encounter. 😂 👍😎
