Terra and Mars were not really at war with each other (except for the Schism of Mars during the Horus Heresy, when almost all organizations within the Imperium were divided into traitors and loyalists), just when during the Age of Strife the Mechanicus "blindly" sent exploratory fleets across the warp (because the flow of mutant navigators they kept as slaves had almost dried up), some of these fleets flew to their destination and founded new forge worlds. The same happened with Vostroya, the culture of its inhabitants is very connected with the production of technology, for it is an industrial world, plus the Mechanicus forge world is located very close by. The Mechanicus is simply closer "in spirit" to them. During the Heresy, Vostroya did not send guard regiments to the aid of Terra, besieged by traitors, saying that it would be better for all her strength to intensively manufacture weapons for the imperial army. As a result, after the Heresy, the government of the Imperium showed dissatisfaction with them for this offense. As a result, now, in order to earn forgiveness before the Emperor, every firstborn (from an ordinary son or daughter of a worker to a child of a planetary aristocracy) born on the planet was obliged to serve in the regiments of the Vostroyan Firstborn.
It wasn't just space marines that betrayed the Imperium in the Horus heresy large elements of the normal Imperial army, navy and some of the Titan legions turn Traitor too and joined Horus's rebellion, even half of the Mechanicum on Mars went into civil one half aided Horus who would be known as the Dark Mechanicum and other remained Loyal that would called the Adeptus Mechanicus. So when the order was given to any loyalists Imperial worlds for reinforcements they needed it but the Vostroyans didn't provide any.
Who will be next? , I hope the Catachan Jungle Fighters , they had the best soldier you could wish for , btw , The most famous saint is Saint Celestine
My role-play character hated the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Skitarii Regiments. Think Lockheed Martin owning Mars, being an insane religious cult, and having their own independent military. As much as we need a military industry, Adeptus Mechanicus is a super scary concept. Tell me I'm wrong.
So they're an amalgam of Russia culture not just the Slavic parts?
yes
And some polish culture too.
Bricky briefly mentions one of the saints in his Warhammer 40k race explained video, specifically in Sisters of Battle section of the video
Mechanicus actually mostly went to the side of the traitors during the heresy and even mars fell to the traitors. There are many reasons why this was.
