Sermon Notes:
John 16:1-2 NKJV
“These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble.
They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.
John 16:3-4 NKJV
And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me.
But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them.
“And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you.
Philippians 1:29 NKJV
For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake,
1. Produce Compassion
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NKJV
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
“Suffering burns out shallowness.”
2. Teach Obedience
Psalm 119:67 NKJV
Before I was afflicted I went astray,
But now I keep Your word.
Psalm 119:71 NKJV
It is good for me that I have been afflicted,
That I may learn Your statutes.
Psalm 119:92 NKJV
Unless Your law had been my delight,
I would then have perished in my affliction.
3. DESIRE HEAVEN
Philippians 1:22-23 NKJV
But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.
4. ROOTS IN CHRIST
5. Tests and Proves Faith
James 1:2-3 NKJV
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
Matthew 13:5-6 NKJV
Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away.
Matthew 13:20-21 NKJV
But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

Happy New Year Pastor Lon! God bless you. I don’t camp either. Not my cup of tea. Looking forward to another year learning the Bible with you. 🙏🏼
Always good to see and listen to you, Lon!
Ready for the SO WHAT?!!!
Why do you have to be tested a 1000 times to learn if you have true faith ? I know with one trial how my faith is doing . This question is sincere.
