  • The long overdue maintenance video for my 1993 Mitsubishi Delica Turbo-D Van. With more parts on the way for the Chamonix, we can't wait to film more and really get out and explore!
    Thanks for Watching!

Appreciate the comment!! Had not seen another English video on it, and I figured making this video would help others down the line. Easy process, but for a first timer it can be tricky at times. Just make sure to clean everything before starting. 🥂

Absolute legend mate. Loving the video. You are spot on in the fact there are no videos in english for this. I struggled 3 years ago to do the water pump and boy was it a head scratcher with no help and a crap after market manual. I found a step by step pdf which helped. Really glad you made this and ignore those people asking it’s not the correct way. You’re a driveway mechanic like most of us old car owners 😎 just use whatever to get it done 👌.
I dont suppose you have a parts list? The waterpump i put on is now leaking and i want to do the timing belt/seals too whilst im in there. I have the timing belt kit but the other list would be appreciated. Love your commentry too, very honest and reminded me of my swearing fun i had doing this 😂 peace from the UK 🤙

Also, when you say top dead centre, is there a mark for it? I know the importance and on my mx5 there was a little notch that lined up with the pully

Thanks for making this video, I love it! In the middle of doing most of the things you mentioned. Got everything apart, now just waiting for parts. On mine, I think there was a ripple effect of stuff that went wrong. I had battery charging issues and A/C issues. I first bought new batteries, then got a new alternator, but before pulling the alternator, I noticed the harmonic balancer pulley wobbling, and only spinning with the crankshaft at some times. Turns out the outer part of the pulley is bonded with rubber to the inner part, and I guess it is a known issue where these two parts separate. I think maybe this happened when my A/C compressor seized. I pulled off the harmonic balancer pulley with a balancer pulley puller kit instead of the 3 jaw, because that can weaken the pulley. The turbo wastegate actuator is seized and the EGR is not hooked up, so doing the new turbo, new wastegate actuator, egt/boost/coolant temp gauge, and egr delete. Also replacing timing belts, upper and lower radiator hoses, and installing the inline coupling in the upper hose to install the coolant temp sensor. Can't wait to reap the benefits of all these changes!

Hey Chey! Thanks for the comment, I got everything from delica USA. Called them up and emailed over my vin. Timing belt kit and oil seals. You can also use Amayama for parts as well. Delica garage in Australia is also another great spot. Hope that helps.

Excellent! How were you able to ensure everything was TDC before removing parts? Did you make sure the arrows on each pulley lined up with the marks on the block?

Anyone watching this and hoping to learn the proper way to do a timing belt service... don't follow this guys process. The way he pulls the crank pulley parts off can easily damage them, you should never install a seal with a screwdriver, and for the love of Pete don't use a pipe wrench to try to torque your crank bolt. Use the service manual, follow those instructions, and keep your van running well. Disregard these yahoos!

I understand all the points you are making, however in the video I mentioned that these tools were not the ones designed for the job, but would be sufficient. My L300 has zero issues and I have put on lots of Kms on it since the install. We've mentioned many times on the channel if you have watched any of our other videos, that we are not professional mechanics, and that this is how I got the job done with the tools that I had access too in the US which most other people would have access too that would be wanting to do the job. Most other people watching the video found it very informative to see somebody get it done with access to similar tools as theirs, without paying a shop a bunch of money to do it. We're sorry our methods weren't up to your standards, but our main goal is keep as many of these vans on the road as possible. Hope your Delica is treating you well.
      Cheers

I second this. Napa has all the correct tools for rent or purchase for cheap and Mitsubishi has extremely easy to follow service manuals. This was painful to see.

Mangled and Christian, you guys make some valid points, so when can I expect your video's on doing it the "proper way". Really look forward to seeing them.

@@jaredtuks601 give me another 60,000km to replace the belt and we’ll get a video put together. In the meantime, the Mitsubishi service manuals are an excellent resource to consult
