    I’m starting out learning bass and got the 4 string Yamaha 304
    There’s a graphic of the eq shapes for the 5 way selection. It’s helpful to search google and save it for reference while I’m learning the instrument.
    I’m very happy to have this bass and if you can find it for $379 or less go for it!

    I have a 1992 TRB5P in emerald green and a candy apple red TRBX305. Have had the TRB5P since new. Wonderful instrument but heavy. Love the wider neck. The 305 is so versatile, with the 5 position EQ switching. Also have a Squier 40th Anniversary Precision and a fretless Squier Precision. Both Precisions have that distinctive P-bass sound, but it’s one dimensional. The active Yamahas on the other hand, much higher output and a great selection of tones. They are my go to basses, especially the TRB5P.

    I have the M2 (4 strings) and the TRBX305 5 strings, so I use them both. I really like them both, I prefer the fingerboard of the M2 but I prefer the overall tone of the TRBX305, the M2 sometimes sounds a little bit too closed for my taste, but it is good depending on the genres you play. And the dual knobs of the M2 are pure garbage.
    Thanks for the comparison, it is very helpful!

    My first bass was an entry-level Yamaha 5-string, a BB G5, and it served me well for 15 years. But I always found the neck a little too narrow, i. e. the string spacing too tight at the 43mm nut. 45mm seems to be the sweet-spot for me. That's what my current main bass has, and that Sire as well. And both the Sire and my Clover Apeiron also have rounded fretboard edges. But in this demo, I prefer the Yamaha's sound and its simpler operation.

    Thanks for the mind opener and I say that to say I have the Marcus Miller M7 and the Yamaha 305 and I have not played the 305 very much as I kind of put it to the side and never took the time to notice the active pickup and joy stick configuration features, the simplicity of the electronics overall and how user-friendly Yamaha built them so I have an entirely different appreciation for the 305 now and you are so correct on saying that the M2 is just complicated and less user-friendly and in my opinion more generic sounding than the 305. They are both wonderful instruments, but if I had to score them overall, the M2 would get a 96, and the 305 would get a 98

    If anyone is interested in M2, I recommend to invest a little bit more money for M5 with pickup selectors(single, parallel and serial humbucker) creating wonderful tone versatility. I think this is the best and essential feature of Sire M series.

    • @lacais8069
      @lacais8069 Рік тому +1

    It's a tough video, I'm sure. You are a Nathan East fan, so I'm sure you're torn, but let's face it - SIRE kicks ass.
    EDIT : I don't even see how SIRE is even considered an "entry level" bass. It is as pro as any bass.
    A kid who gets a SIRE today will be able to grow into it and not "need" an upgrade. It's like those Beverly Hills teens who get a Lexus as their 16th birthday present...
