Fantastic. Awesome stuff. I have 6 of these. Personally I like the neck of the P10, but I keep going back to the V5. I might swap the necks so I get the best of both. You should post this on /r/SireGuitars on Reddit btw. :)
Sire P10 DX because it seems (to my hearing) to always respond to the full spectrum. Others may have their niche, yet with only one to choose, to reach every genre that fellow musicians propose it seems to offer the best service. What do you think David?
First of all this is incredibly helpful and you did an amazing job skipping the BS and demonstrating the differences in the way these basses sound. That being said the V3P sounds DAMN NICE for the price. What a steal.
this video helped me decide to get the V3P. It's a great bass. I replaced the tuners with lighter ones and had some fret work done, but other than that it is great.
The definition of a perfect shootout video!!! No talking, fast transitions for easier comparison and very well detailed titles and chapters. Excellent my bro, you gained a new subscriber
It’s about six months since I purchased a P8. Even listening to this video again, comparing it with other models, I’m really happy with it. It’s hard to believe you can get a bass this nice and a great carrying case for that price.
wow...... this is so extensive.... thank you for the time & effort on this. After listening through, was quite surprised that my favourite overall bass is V3P. Great value.
In May 2018, I made the choice of the SIRE MARCUS MILLER - V3-5 AWH RN V2, and today I still have many wonderful years of practice and enjoyment to experience with it. I adore it :).Thank you for this video !
Thank You! I've been considering getting a Sire bass for a while now but there are no dealers near me. This is the most helpful video I have seen! Great job!
My favorite is the one I have. A V7 5 string second gen Ash/Maple. I changed the electronics to EMG Js and the BTS 2 band tone circuit and I installed a much better Gotoh brass quick release bridge. It's perfect now.
May I ask if thr Gotoh bridge was the same dimension of the original sire bridge? Don’t need to drill a hole for installation? I have the same mod as you except the bridge. Thank you in advance
Great demo! It’s good to hear more playing and less talking to help get straight to business! 💪🏾 They all sound great, but the consumer has to consider the strings as well. Knowing the character of the strings I use will help me to make a better decision on the bass. I have a few V7 basses (1st and 2nd gen standard and vintage),and I got a 5 string V8 back in mid December! I’m playing that the most right now!
V3P sounds great to me and is the cheapest! They are all good - very good. Best value manufacturer of quality bases on the market for me and my second bass will be a Marcus Miller Sire, no dobt at all. Very slick well put together video - thank you very much for your effort here.
Thanks for the effort, i really appreciate it. This is the most helpful video on choosing Sire basses. After watching the video with premium headphones, i've decided to keep up with my 4.5 kg's TRB1005J.
400th and I still remember the 300th and damn even the 200th now that I think about lol. Still rockin David. Thanks for all the inspiration over the years to all of us 🤘
Interesting to hear the strengths and weaknesses in the different styles. That P7 surprised me the most. The V8 initially let me down and wasn’t as exciting as I hoped but it didn’t do anything badly and sat in mix in a very consistent way.
@9:29 and @9:39 If the Sire V7 clear quick attack of the top end G string was combined with the Sire V8 clarity raw sounding low end of the E and A string tone that would be a killer slap sound.
Here's what I'm learning about your content... you can always turn it down... you can always mud it up a bit... but without the ability, your just looking for something...... I just ordered a V3 Mohogany... because the more expensive stuff is lacking in specific area's... You can absolutely THUMP !!! Thank You !!!
Very nice, consistant, playing! Makes it easy to pick up the, sometimes subtle, differencies. Love the balanced and "mature" sound of the V10-DX. But for more high energy /agrressive styles of music I think I prefer the V8. Thanks!
The bass line is amazing! Trying to nail down all the subtilities for a few days now. And I not even started digging in the slap version... 😍 Very found of the V5R sound btw.
It is such a nice comparison!! I have both V5 alder Tobacco Sunburst and P5 alder dakota red. I love them so much, their figure and performance are awesome!!
I am impressed by your consistancy in this video. Some very good skills you have. I'm a V7 - V3 guy. I sold a spendy Fender Jazz bass and bought 2 Sires. They all sound really good, so good on Sire for an ever expanding line of affordable instruments. That D5 does sound really bitchen.
Both pickups: M7, V8 and V7 Vintage Neck pickup: M7, D5, P10, P8, P7 Bridge pickup: M7, V10, P10, P8, P7 The verdict: You need 4 Sire basses. a V7, a V8, an M7 and a P8 fretless
Fantastic comparison, thanks. I'm assuming we only heard the active basses in passive mode, tone and volume fully up? Sire makes amazing basses for the $. My main gigging bass is a V7 vintage ash body/maple neck model. This demo pretty much confirms my overall personal preferences. I don't really like the PJ setup when both PUPSs are engaged and slapped. Never have. And I'm not really digging the M7 tones either. But the beauty of the Sire preamp is you really can dial in a huge variety of sounds. I can get very very close to a P bass with my V7 by dialing in adjustments to the mids in active mode.
LOL, they all sound great! Sire's are amazing instruments, and they just keep kicking them out. I bought one of the very first gen V7 sires when they first launched, great bass but its a heavy beast. Nice demo Dave! My question is, now that you've had your hands on all of them, which are your top 2 favorites? :)
Le V10 me tente vraiment. Lorsque mon jeu s'améliorera et que je mériterai de jouer sur une guitare haut de gamme, je m'en offrirai certainement une :).
I went back to the video and found the P10 very appealing in most respects. I own a V7 (bought in July 2015) and an M7 which is probably the best overall bass I’ve ever owned.
Subscribed - this has to be one of the best and most comprehensive bass comparison videos I’ve seen on UA-cam. Amazing work! It’s hard for me to pick a favorite, but I’m very into P Basses right now and that D5 sounds amazing to my ear. I was actually surprised by how good the P10/P7 sounded for slap with the bridge/neck solo’d as well.
I've come back to this video so many times, that V10 is monstrous! Do you remember if you played the basses that are both active/passive in this like the V8, V10, P8, P10 etc in passive mode or active?
There are differences but not enough in the JJ/PJ to justify a new model. My guess is Sire adds different appointments to draw in different customers. You could barely grab 2 years different MIM fenders and get this kind of consistency. Good on Sire but it’s a lot to understand coming to a brand. V7 V8 V10 P10 M7. 🤷🏼♂️
Welcome to my 400th video! :D
Soooo, which one is your favorite?
Fantastic. Awesome stuff. I have 6 of these. Personally I like the neck of the P10, but I keep going back to the V5. I might swap the necks so I get the best of both. You should post this on /r/SireGuitars on Reddit btw. :)
I love the D5 the best I think. All sound good in your hands tho!
P7 all the way!!!
Sire P10 DX !!! Love that tone!
Sire P10 DX because it seems (to my hearing) to always respond to the full spectrum. Others may have their niche, yet with only one to choose, to reach every genre that fellow musicians propose it seems to offer the best service. What do you think David?
No commentary, straight comparisons. Thank you for this video !!!
This is the way
Great bass line btw
First of all this is incredibly helpful and you did an amazing job skipping the BS and demonstrating the differences in the way these basses sound.
That being said the V3P sounds DAMN NICE for the price. What a steal.
Yeah I think anyone would realize what a steal that thing is. I've had the V5 5 string in my sites.
this video helped me decide to get the V3P. It's a great bass. I replaced the tuners with lighter ones and had some fret work done, but other than that it is great.
The d5 is on a league of it's own! Love it!
The definition of a perfect shootout video!!! No talking, fast transitions for easier comparison and very well detailed titles and chapters. Excellent my bro, you gained a new subscriber
My man is on the drums too. Absolute legend for over a decade now
feels like just a few months ago i was super hyped for your 300th video. there was even more basses in that one LOL
Both Sire v10’s are a cut above! Love the progress bars and seamless cuts in this whole video!
Slapped they actually sound quite Warwick thumbish
I actually think the V10 sounds a little too mellow in the high-end for a J-bass, but it’s all personal preference.
@@acegh0st i think you can eq the preamp for that
V7 Vintage gets my vote
This is one of the best comparison videos I`ve ever seen. No BS, very structured, just what counts. Amazing 😀
You sir deserve a medal of some sort for this!!! My goodness that was awesome!! Thanks!!
This is the best Sire comparison video I've seen on UA-cam. Thanks man. For my style I like the P7 and V8
V7 Vintage Swamp. That's the one.
Yes sir
Thank you. This is the video I’ve been waiting for since they announced the new models. It’s exactly what I needed before I buy my new bass.
Sweet! Glad I could help :)
It’s about six months since I purchased a P8. Even listening to this video again, comparing it with other models, I’m really happy with it. It’s hard to believe you can get a bass this nice and a great carrying case for that price.
The V7 Vintage with both pup's on has the most growly slap tone. That one would be my pick.
Man, that V5R Alder is my favorite of the jazz basses. The M7 might have been my favorite of the whole bunch though.
Such a great video review! The V3P is the bargain of the century
I'm actually listening on a laptop but the V3P got my attention !
Me too
The same here, the tone is incredible for the price and holds really well against the more expensive models
wow...... this is so extensive.... thank you for the time & effort on this. After listening through, was quite surprised that my favourite overall bass is V3P. Great value.
Best video on youtube about different sire basses🎉
There so many original aspects to this video! Thumbs up! Subscribed!
The P8 and M7 are amazing for music I play. Keep posting, you are my Bass Hero
M7 owner here

Thank you !! I needed this video, V3P sounds beautifull and is the cheapest :3
Yes this is the one thing you tube needed! Thank you for you dedication making this! 👍😃
Uauuuu! Thank you VM. I made my decision, the M7.
My favorite is the one I have. A V7 5 string second gen Ash/Maple. I changed the electronics to EMG Js and the BTS 2 band tone circuit and I installed a much better Gotoh brass quick release bridge. It's perfect now.

Perfect video, straight to it!! Well done sir. And I love that yer slappin' like you're angry at someone (I mean that in a good way, lol)

For J, I think V3P (both pickups)
For P, I think P10 or P8 (both pickups)
Thanks for the video.
That is truly an amazing side-by-side comparison. I can’t even imagine how long it takes to edit.
Thanks for the effort, i really appreciate it. This is the most helpful video on choosing Sire basses.
After watching the video with premium headphones, i've decided to keep up with my 4.5 kg's TRB1005J.
Incredible comparison! M7 and P8 for me. Thank you this is excellent!

Agreed. That P7 punches. You can def hear the power.
wow great job! each bass excels in different ways. For example I didn't care for the V10-DX until you started slapping, then it became my preference
Finally. Been waiting for a video like this
@9:29 and @9:39 If the Sire V7 clear quick attack of the top end G string was combined with the Sire V8 clarity raw sounding low end of the E and A string tone that would be a killer slap sound.

Hyper quali bravo, bon le slap en micro chevalet on peut s'en passer 😆j'aime bien la V3P !
Great video! All of them sound great, but my favourites are the P7 and P8, they have this extra growl.
This is an incredible video. I will download and listen to this clip all day long :)
Thanks so much for this video. That V3P is gnarly. Going to grab a 5 string when they're available.
Happy 400 ! 🥳🎂🥂🍾🎉 And thanks so much for all your videos ❤️🔥
My favorite has to be Colors. I didn’t know about that song or even the band, and now I can’t stop playing it. 🎸❤️
Very nice, consistant, playing! Makes it easy to pick up the, sometimes subtle, differencies. Love the balanced and "mature" sound of the V10-DX. But for more high energy /agrressive styles of music I think I prefer the V8. Thanks!
V3p is just ❤
Best comparison video I have ever seen! I like the swamp ash.
great comparison and perfect play! thanks for your effort
The v7 vintage sounds amazing. Here I was considering the p8.. Idk what to do anymore lol
Awesome playing
Bravo for this effort 👏The P10DX (🥇) and the P8 sound best to me
P10 DX sounds like brown butter.
V3P almost sounds like John Taylor Rio tone. Great deal!
The bass line is amazing! Trying to nail down all the subtilities for a few days now.
And I not even started digging in the slap version... 😍
Very found of the V5R sound btw.
Excellent comparison video. I still have my Gen 1 Sire V7. I tried Gen 2 but didn't keep it.
Thank you for this very nice comparison !
It is such a nice comparison!! I have both V5 alder Tobacco Sunburst and P5 alder dakota red. I love them so much, their figure and performance are awesome!!
VERY HELPFUL! Exactly what I was looking for!
Watched several times overall I prefer P8 , thanks for making this vid.
fantastic video, omg!

Great playing and editing with the stamps!
my top 3 favourites are: M7 / P8 / V10dx
M7 is a great bass, in terms of tone versatility

Thanks! All the active basses were actually in active mode but with all controls set flat, tone & volume fully up.
I like P7 the most. And strangely enough V3P is one of the better ones, considering the price it is hard not to get one!
PS: V10 DX wins the slap
Bass phrase is too cool❤
V7 ash vintage, Sire D5, v7 Swamp Ash, V10-DX.
I instantly started smiling when D5 kicks in. Looks like i'm gonna get a P5 soon.
Dig it, bro !!I own V5R5..epic bass
