(FYI: I am not disrobing..just going back to visit the states for 5 months..) For those who are on the path of change and transformation, how was the path for you?
It's a mixed bag and I'm grateful. Here's my deal... FWIW; I was plunked into a state of grace after I stumbled into AA in absolute desperation. I soon had a spiritual experience, as opposed to a spiritual awakening as the result of working the 12 steps. It has allowed me to be sober and live in the solution for 37 years. I'd never read Appendix 2 of the Big Book titled Alcoholics Anonymous, so I thought I might be having some sort of psychotic snap. Not being religious at all, it was odd to surrender my will and life to that "higher power" they referred to in the early meetings. Anyway, I felt absolute serenity for the first time in my life. I knew I never had to drink again. I'd determined to not kill myself but to leave my body running so I could do some good for a damn change. I've been trying to be of service since then - however failingly. I've been through some hairy situations, a couple life threatening health issues. Each time I surrendered and accepted. I did the next thing in front of me, kept trying to do only the right thing. And each time -and sometimes it took years - but every time, something I never would have imagined and never could have predicted... happened. Long story, lol. Now the kindest person I've ever come across on this spinning ball of mud, my wife, has cancer. It is hard, the candle has blown out in terms of god consciousness and the daily connection I used to have. I'm stumped. That's what prompted me to find this channel.
My change started when I reached out to you for advice, the response back was just what I needed to make a change and resign from my job where I was unhappy. My life since has been challenging financially but I can’t put a price on the mental well-being and freedom that followed. If possible please keep us updated on your new journey ( we thankfully have your old clips if we need them😉) I thank you and wish you well venerable Nick.
Change is always scary; however, you are a man of courage in so many ways. And you were there for me and gave me courage to change. I have been moved by your words of wisdom. I hope that in the months you travel, learn and see where things are going now, you will continue to be a guide through speaking, writing, and teaching. We need more people of courage like you. I’m Thai, a Buddhist all my life. I enter monk hood for a bit at 21 between my study in the States. But I reached a turning point when I went on the pilgrimage to the 4 holy sites in India, where I start to really understand Lord Buddha’s teaching. Happiness blooms on that trip, and I am still on the path. You don’t have to be a monk to find peace. Anyone can reach enlightenment. Seize the day. 🙏
Whatever you do, wherever you go, in the future, your journey has been meaningful to me and many others. It will be interesting to see where your journey takes you from here. Thank you. I'm still following your journey.
I haven’t seen his videos before this one. I wd really love to check into a monastery for women. I’m a senior and am yearning for that lifestyle. I live in Canada. Any recommendations anyone?

In times of increasing narcissism, falsehood and division , your good-hearted honesty and clarity of thought are so consoling and your awareness in all videos worth considering. I can relate alot of this with when I stopped drinking alcohol 7+months ago.. during this time I am learning alot about myself and the people I surrounded myself with..I have since grown into a better version of me that I didn't know existed for many years..its a remarkable awakening ! Sacred tears, I have called them an ugly cry as well. I have been transformed over 33 years of alcohol recovery. So very grateful that I drank my way in, as I would have never found the life I have. Many of us go through life changing events and profound transformations sooner or later, often unintentionally such as chronic illness in my case. Hello Nick, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being an inspiration to me every single day. Through you, Ive learned that letting go can be so powerful, and im working on it every single day. I have let go of dreaming of material possessions, such as wanting to own a home some day, and I know it may seem to others that I should continue to pursue that but, it was holding me back in so many ways, and it caused constant anxiety and fear within me every single waking moment, and the fact that ive let go of that so called dream has made me feel so much lighter. My dream, is to live every single day with intention, to be free of material possessions, to simply be and exist. If I live in an apartment for the rest of my life, im okay with that, because I will be parted from it in my next life. I have depression and anxiety, but through your teachings I have found that a lot of my mental illnesses have started to break apart. I am truly grateful for your teachings and I honestly truly hope that you continue to teach here on youtube. You would think that at 73 you have learned much but your journey in more than one aspect looked like mine years ago. I couldn’t go to a monastery because I had children to raise and support on my own. As you say, you will be OK. And I was, in spite of my struggles and many ups and downs. Your journey has taught me how to let go and be at peace and know that it’s not so much what we go through but what we make of it. Everything in our lives it’s an opportunity to learn, to grow, even (and especially) the painful moments. Thank you for your inspiration, guidance, and humility. You are blessed. Continue teaching.

Beautifully spoken, Nick. May your return home be warm and your heart and wisdom grow only further, the world needs it. Many of us go through life changing events and profound transformations sooner or later, often unintentionally such as chronic illness in my case. Hello Nick, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being an inspiration to me every single day. Through you, Ive learned that letting go can be so powerful, and im working on it every single day. I have let go of dreaming of material possessions, such as wanting to own a home some day, and I know it may seem to others that I should continue to pursue that but, it was holding me back in so many ways, and it caused constant anxiety and fear within me every single waking moment, and the fact that ive let go of that so called dream has made me feel so much lighter. My dream, is to live every single day with intention, to be free of material possessions, to simply be and exist. If I live in an apartment for the rest of my life, im okay with that, because I will be parted from it in my next life. I have depression and anxiety, but through your teachings I have found that a lot of my mental illnesses have started to break apart. I am truly grateful for your teachings and I honestly truly hope that you continue to teach here on youtube. You would think that at 73 you have learned much but your journey in more than one aspect looked like mine years ago. I couldn’t go to a monastery because I had children to raise and support on my own. As you say, you will be OK. And I was, in spite of my struggles and many ups and downs. Your journey has taught me how to let go and be at peace and know that it’s not so much what we go through but what we make of it. Everything in our lives it’s an opportunity to learn, to grow, even (and especially) the painful moments. Thank you for your inspiration, guidance, and humility. You are blessed. Continue teaching.
