I been journaling a lot over the past few months and have found it very helpful.
I appreciate you responding to me when I last commented. I did not expect that. I been alone approx. 7 months with my dogs in an old camper trailer. I start every morning by getting out of bed and sitting on the floor petting my dogs while telling them how lucky I feel, I meditate, walk bare foot in the grass everyday, write and cook. I am finding many benefits to this. I very much enjoy and find benefit in your videos. Thank you so much for making these videos.

The Shadow journal is very eye opening. Being critical of yourself and acknowledging that you have certain emotions, is a good way too develop emotional intelligence. Being critical of yourself in a realistic way can guide you to accept yourself for who you are, and show you the space were you need to change.

As you went through the journal ideas, each seemed beneficial. I was relieved when you gave permission to create as many journals as desired. I’m retired and committed to becoming a better me. I’m grateful beyond words to have been spiritually prompted to Google Buddhism and find you. From day one I’ve been devouring your UA-cam messages and learning as much as possible. I’m committed to spend as much time as necessary to apply Buddhist principles in my life and practicing. My appetite for learning, absorbing and internalizing all that you offer is insatiable. I often listen to the same message more than once so that I don't miss anything. Thank you a million times over for devoting time to the growth of others.Everything you do is greatly appreciated and I’m always looking forward to your newest session as I work through the past ones. I’ve been a subscriber for about a month.

Dear Nick. For many years I have had a very unhealthy relationship with food. I’ve used food to ease sadness and promote happiness. I am in the relatively early stages of change but I use a journal to help me. I strive to use food for its intended purpose and as soon as my mind drifts to food as a solution I take out my journal. I write down how I feel and always finish by writing. Use food for its intended purpose. By the time I’ve finished writing the feelings have usually passed. I hope my success continues, Thankyou x

…actually, i find it very helpful to take notes throughout the day as I train to monitor myself & find clear & concise ways to express about thoughts, feelings, ideas, experiences, etc.
      > In my efforts to form the clear & concise ways to journal about very subtle experiences - I find it is helping me to create a more sophisticated mental construct - I am developing discernment & the ability to self reflect - as well as self adjucate w/o sliding into the part where i self recriminate.
Whew! I made this progress in the last few months with intensive study & practice.
      > I am learning from Tich nih Han & you ✨🧡✨🧡✨🙏🏼……..🦙…….
I have a good foundation, bc my father raised me in the tradition - even tho I am a girl child. He taught me all the ways of being & moving as if I were a student monk. .. He began my training as soon as I could walk.
      > I did not keep those trainings - bc I wanted to be an American girl - so I rebelled to the maximum - only to return again & again.
      > This time, I will push through & keep my promise to my father - to always do my best ! By the way, my dad always said . “ do your best, but know you can always do better.. Keep trying ! “

One type of journal that my grandparents used to keep was a journal of good deeds, where they would write down anything of being service/helpful to someone, observing sila, meditation, etc. This way when they go through it, they would feel happy and positive about themselves and will be motivated to do more.
In my country, these journals would be read to a person at their death bed by their loved ones, so that his/her thoughts are focused on all the good they’ve accomplished instead of pain and negativity.
Sadly this practice is dying away. This video made me realise what an amazing practice journaling is. Hope someone will find this helpful.

Thank you so much for this channel! I have been journaling since being stuck at home last year for Covid and what a difference it made! I am staying with it now and looking for new avenues where it can help me in life. Am going to explore both the Shadow Journal and Meditation Journal, to go deeper and weed out the unseen roadblocks that hinder me. I feel like I've plateaued and this is exactly what I needed to break out. Blessings to you!

When the first point was gratitude I became a bit angry like here's advice I've heard a million times. But I kept listening and it is a good point that negatives thinking can become inappropriately dominant. It eventually affects your energy levels and could impact those around you too. I'll pay attention to this.

It's interesting how sometimes life gives you these happy coincidences. So i have been writing a journal for a couple of months and specially today i wrote about my tendency to fall in a pattern of negative thinking. Often times i would sort of catch myself in the act, thinking about situations that has not even happened yet, sort of like a scene from a movie. Then i would just say to myself: "Thats ridicolous!" and thought that if your going think about the future make it atleast a positive one.
Opening youtube, I saw this video and it was perfect. Definitely something i needed. Great video! Hope you have a great day and looking forward for more videos!

Dearest Nick, let me just say that your videos are amazing and I admire your beliefs. You are helped me in SO many ways and I thank you for that. 😊I have ADHD, and all that comes with it. 😊 With that being said, I find that journaling is very helpful to me. It clears and calms my mind. I will be starting a graduate program at the end of June, and plan on having a journal next to me, so I can free flow and get my thoughts out to help me focus as I go through school. I've used journaling to cope and express my anger that grief brought after losing my Dad last year. I've also just practice being grateful.🙏 Great tips and love all the information behind journaling. Thank you and many blessings for keeping this channel going. 😊

I have always had a tendency to judge others quickly and harshly, but it's hard to know how to break this mental habit. Recently I've thought a lot about how I can avoid becoming a bitter person as I get older. I will definitely start doing this type of journaling, thank you very much!

Journaling is just so extremely powerful, we are like the internal concepts of pyramids and shelving begins at one level then filters into the deeper layers, unravelling and unearthing at the core.
So much is exposed and deep realisation dawns about who we are at the surface level and reaching the Ocean bed, the depths of knowingness and acceptance.
Thank you so much for an amazing video, so freeing and insightful, I hope this video will assist many beings.

However they are now directing me towards starting an farming business (not cute), I have a diploma in Analytical Chemistry now i've always envisioned myself doing well in this career path, it has always been in my dreams, waking up to go work in a lab, wearing a white lab coat solving problems.
