Great perspective. Generally, it is how we approach mistakes or negative situations that are important in helping maintain a healthy mindset. I say healthy because you can't be positive all the time.
Regarding your example around waiting for a response from a person.
Just remember you can't control others' actions or how, when, or if they will respond.
But, as you said, just accept the outcome, learn from it in some way, and move on.
