Don't give the nasty people any attention, you do beautiful work and the purpose of art is the perception of the person doing it and how they see it and how they want to do it. I'm 58 years old and always wanted to learn to oil paint and now I'm learning and your videos have helped me more than anyone else's I've watched on line, others have helped but I enjoy yours the most, you have been very encouraging to me. I enjoy your wife's videos as well, I hope she continues with them, I live in Tennessee in the US and love seeing what your part of the world looks like. Keep up the wonderful work you are doing with these videos, your painting and all the encouraging words.
I am glad your painting with oils is going well, lots more tutorials to come 😀 Hopefully get outdoors painting soon and some more videos of France! Thanks for watching and commenting.
It worked extremely well, Robert. I liked your work in the tree to emphasise lighting. These days. any reference will do. From my own point of view, I want to paint what I know and love.
I really liked watching this video Robert. I'm eighty years old and love painting but feel I shall need to hurry up a bit if I am to get even a fraction of the lovely painting expertise that you produce! A great style of paintings. Thank you.
Hi Robert! I’m one of Stuart Davies’ students in his Zoom classes. Absolutely beautiful work!! I really enjoy seeing you work with oils, as that is my preferred medium. You’re very skilled. Your watercolor paintings are also gorgeous!!
That you Robert! Your painting is very inspiring to me. I try to watch everything you put up. I especially appreciate your drawings and you sharing your thoughts as you do.
I love your tips as well as your method and style of painting. I don't have your equipment but thought I would buy calendars with lovely photos and begin to paint using it as a guide to practice all I have learned from you and try to make the image my own. 'Check your values' I have never understood that before, no wonder I was never happy with any of my finished paintings. Thank you so very much.
Thank you for all of the videos that you put out. I am falling behind but will dedicate some time to watching them. I enjoy watching the process that you employ. I look forward to being able to be confident in my color choices and color mixing.
Robert you are one video producing dynamo, which is a great thing for all of us, so thanks for all the hard work there. And I agree with you about AI and it being an endless source of reference material. I'll never understand the reluctance.
Excellent work as always but I think I might have given the sky a more relaxed tone. It is now a bit ’restless’ - at least compared to the photo. What’s that brownish colour you have on the canvas. Ordinary oil colour?
I love that you’re using AI in reverse. Instead of AI recreating a real painting, you’re creating a real painting from AI. Just a funny observation in my mind. Great lessons and painting insights, thanks for all the wonderful videos. Looking forward to more. Cheers
The ideal 'perfection' in the AI image seems dead in contrast to your living, breathing, fresh brushwork. Is that a limitation of AI at the moment? Also, do we as humans crave imperfection or is it that we're just conditioned that way?

It is a game changer when you get your values correct. Good luck 👍

Love dreamy romantic paintings, one of my favorites! ❤
A beautiful painting in a very short time.
Thank you so much 😀
I like the scenery… and the way you painted, thanks for sharing☘️
Thank you so much 😀
Wow that's a brilliant way of testing colours thank you 😊
It is a good learning tool, you soon want need it! Good luck 👍
@@OilPaintingwithRobertMee thank you 😊
Thank you, real pleasure to watch! When did you stop feeling yourself beginner?
Probably after getting to grips with tonal values. However I still have a lot to learn, it is a very long apprenticeship!
Totally live this demo, Robert. Thank you so much. So many teaching points to register, like not going ott on colour. A good one for me to remember😊😊😊
Yes. Too much of a good thing can be an issue with bright colours! Thanks 😊
Interesting approach, using a laminated picture to check color values before applyiing to the painting! I like the 'painterly' affect you've created !
Thanks for watching and commenting. It works well, also just holding up the brush gets you close.
Another fantastic video/painting/ instructions and Thank You for the extra details on the linseed oil! ❤
You are welcome, glad it was helpful 😊
Hi Robert. Great picture of yours. Love the brush work really inspiring. The effects by rolling the brush to layer the paint appeals to me.
It leaves an interesting mark on the canvas, give it a go! Thanks for watching 😀
Thank most valuable for me was learning the brush strokes
It what's sets us all apart. We can all mix the same colour, but we put it down in our own unique way. Thanks for watching 😀
Beautiful painting my friend
Thanks, I appreciate your feedback 😊
Love it. I will have to give it a try.
Good luck 👍
It is brilliant! Thanks! Very inspiring!

I used acrylic white gesso with a touch of burnt umber. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
Very nice
Thanks 😀

Lol. Like most things, everyone will eventually come around to AI...see how it can be useful!
I like yours better than your source photo
Maybe because of the brush marks, I prefer a more painterly look. Thanks for watching 😀
Do you not use any medium other than oil ie to speed up drying time?
For a under painting I sometimes use WN Griffin alkyds oils which are fast drying.
❤
Thanks for watching 😀
It seems your confidence in being able to pull it off is key… that bit takes years of practice for sure
That is what many bad paintings buy you, confidence to handle the materials and paint some better one.. ...hopefully!
What do you use for paint medium
I mostly just use linseed oil. Thanks for watching 😀
What is a "turn about"? Please.
Not sure what you mean?
The ideal 'perfection' in the AI image seems dead in contrast to your living, breathing, fresh brushwork. Is that a limitation of AI at the moment? Also, do we as humans crave imperfection or is it that we're just conditioned that way?
It is all very interesting, the AI images seem to lack something 🤔
