Not bad man! It’s a real challenge when creating from memory with no reference! Which I think is better showing on your knowledge and the rules of paint in order to create something is the next best thing to painting outdoors! This is better than copying a photograph in my opinion . All photographs are lies. Not good to copy. Great job man. Sometimes going outside and taking a walk you can borrow from nature, especially with the conditions or similar to what you’re planning there are things you can use this helps big time. I, too, have just discovered Payne's Grey and love using it in moody/stormy sky scenes. I live in the desert (more dirt than greenery) where we do not get a lot of dramatic clouds (hot and sunny) so I am forcing myself to paint clouds of all kinds from photos and memory. Trees are another issue. We do not have thick, bushy shrub type trees that grow to massive heights. I really appreciate the work that you put forth. I am learning a lot.

Hello Robert. I am a piano composer who has just taken up painting, starting with acrylic and watercolour and now attempting that daunting move towards oils. I'm certainly in the "beginner" category for now but as somebody who absolutely adores the French impressionists, just as I do the French romantic impressionist/symbolist composers, I aim to throw myself completely into this. I have just returned from a long stay in Paris, where I was able to see up close my favourite works from the likes of Renoir, Monet, Van Gogh, Sisley, Degas, Utrillo, Cezanne, Manet, Pisarro and Matisse. I spent some time in Montmartre, toured the museums, the galleries, took in the sights, traversed up the Seine and even took in a few classical concerts at the Philharmonie de Paris, Église de la Madeleine and Théâtre des Champs-Elysées amongst a whole host of other memorable moments. The visit was completely life changing to me and I am completely filled with renewed creativity usually reserved for my music. I just want to say your channel has by far been the greatest resource for me personally. As a beginner with high ambitions, you have gifted me the confidence to not be afraid of a blank canvas and whilst my output is pretty dismal so far, I am definitely improving and I owe it all to yourself. Thank you for everything you do. Not only are you an excellent tutor, you are a truly brilliant artist in your own right.

It's such a shame AI is replacing works of art for which it's hard to know what is and what isn't real anymore. A soulless printer churns out wonderful looking prints therefore feeding demand for people who soon will also be replaced!

That turned out to be quite beautiful. You did ocean waves, water, clouds, and rocks in one painting! I hope to reach your skill level someday. In the meantime, I can only paint a half hour at a time. Then I have to go think about the pros and cons of what I have done and what I am planning to do. After an hour or two, I go back to the painting, implement the plan, and then go think about it some more. Once I learn from my errors and corrections, I will know what works and what does not. It is a pleasure to watch you paint. Thank you.
