I absolutely *love* Gold Bloods even though Eridan is (and always shall be) my favorite. I had created an OC named Eudora Nebulino (amongst many others) that I felt really embodied my personality. I do realize that Eudora's name isn't actually fitting to what a true 'troll name' should entail but I am very fond of her. I'd love to hear you discuss Prospit and Derse. I haven't played Hiveswap but this is definitely helpful !

So, Doom is all about the hardship in life and the potential to transcend it? And those who have it as their Aspect are both fated to suffer and also be badass big damn heroes? That certainly fits the Captors. You don't think that Harry Potter and Hiei are of this Aspect, do you? o.O
It is not really the potential to transcend life, but rather about sacrificing your power to do things in the future, to do something really powerful now. And Harry is very much a Page of Life - weak by himself, and with a lot of Doom in his life, but with the ability to make others help him.
I'd say it's less about the potential to transcend hardship as it is about how the universal experience of hardship is something that can unify and ground people. The power of Doom can, for example, be like the phrase 'we all bleed red'. We all suffer the same way, we all die the same way, we all bleed the same way, so artificial divides are left trivial in the wake of that and as such Doom can, in of itself, be a kind of hopeful force. It is also the understanding that, more often than not, adversity is the thing that shapes our lives and who we are as people. It can be pointless suffering, but it can also be something that challenges you in a way that allows (or forces) you to reach your full potential and learn more about yourself, what you're capable of, and what your limits are. I'd say a lot of friendsim is guided by the doom aspect, hah. Many friendships are formed through bonding via horrible trials, am I right?
