It was the frickin alternator. During a drive, somehow it locked up. Blew the belt apart, engine sputtered out; I threw it in neutral and coasted to a stop.

awhiteguy24 i think it's because race class, but mostly because a sequential trans or auto for FWD is too expensive. They usually just swap to a billet trans housing and straight cut gears. Can easily hold less than 1000hp and 800nm torque.
It is when you're up against a car with an auto transmission and you need to do everything you can to keep up with it. It's pretty easy to miss that 15mm gap in the H pattern to get the shifter to move right and into 3rd when you're banging it forwatd.
