  • The Kraber is one of the most powerful weapons in Apex Legends, capable of downing an enemy in a single shot; it provides extreme advantage to your team if you can land one.
Because of it's sheer power, many pros are saying that the weapon should be removed from competitive Apex, an opinion I'm not unsympathetic to. However, in this video I wanted to investigate possible alternatives to removing the Kraber.
If you like this kind of video I'll be making more in the future, so make sure to subscribe and stick around. Thank you for watching and have a good one.

I think one of the best ways we could counter this(if it's still an issue) is to add a really strong scope glare to the kraber. As in, when you look at a player who is zoomed in with a kraber, it adds a fairly obvious glint onto the screen like actual scopes do. It would make it obvious you're being threatened by a kraber if you pay attention without being obnoxious and still adding the tension that your ideas would have.

I think in addition you add a much longer wind up before the user can actually fire the Kramer. This would give the enemy enough time to prepare where it wouldn't make the Kraber bad, but it would also allow more skillful players to defend against it.

I never played Apex, or any battle royale for that matter, but with your explanation I immediately understand what's going on. That's already quite good. Now, what if the Kraber had to be shot from a stabilised position as a tradeoff? Picture the player having to unfold and prop up a bipod in a prone position or on a low piece of cover before they can fire. This means that quick corner peaks aren't possible with it and that enemies can spot the set-up which lets them know about the player wielding the Kraber. If it's set up in a defensive position before the enemy group arrives these downsides are minimised as a reward for prior area control. Maybe a set-up Kraber also restricts the player from turning their camera further than a 180° angle, meaning they can be flanked easier.
Side note: It doesn't have to be totally impossible to fire while not set up, but penalties like wild inaccuracy, knockback and/or even self-damage from the blowback would be appropriate.
All of this might restrict the movement too much for such a fast-paced game, but the one-shot capability of this weapon does seem to warrant it.
I also like your idea of letting all players know which weapons are going to drop. That would probably help out the game in general by not just letting players know what they'll be up against but also giving them specific incentive to seek out their favoured gun they now know will spawn soon.
